thanks for watching and commenting everyone!
at 5:20 I said "if you don't intend on traveling, get the S" but I meant to say "if you DO plan on traveling get the S" because you can take it on a plane
X = double range = cannot fly
S = standard range = can fly
lmk if you have any more questions!
Can it be taken on luggage? (Opposed to the cabin)
Is there anyway at all to travel on a plane with it?
Sam Sheffer awesome!!!!
Hisham Talha no, 4:45 explains why
Adam Grasso has to be the s model
Such an informative and solid review, enjoy the Mini Sam! #BoostedBoards
Is It not allowed on the airplain? Mini X?
Boosted send me a Board!
Hi Boosted, I really love your product, which is why I am writing this. My recommendation is make it so that when the battery dies and it is used as a regular skateboard that there is not as much resistance. I'm not a designer, but the way I have seen other companies *cough*(LouBoard)*cough* do this is by putting the motors inside the wheels so that there is little to no resistance when kick pushing. Again, I don't know how big your guys' motors are or if it's possible with your design, but I think that would be a great pro, as pointed out in this video. Once again, love your product, I just think that would be another way to improve it.
They obviously know what hub motors are it's just that they will significantly reduce torque and performance for the boosted boards which is why they prefer to keep the belt driven system. If it's such an issue, you can always just pop off the belts entirely and then have a normal, but slightly heavy, skateboard.
Fair enough, but it's just a convenience thing. I'd rather just easily start pushing rather than having to stop to take off the wheels, then the belts and then put the wheels back on. Once again, definitely not a dealbreaker, just for convenience. I appreciate the feedback.
Great overview! As someone who didn’t ride much until I got my Boosted Dual, I can’t imagine being comfortable starting out on the small board. They look awesome though.
I also love the Loaded deck.
I think this is the best video so far that addresses a ton of info about the Boosted Mini and several situations that you have tested and talked about for us to think before we pay for it
Really good review overall!
You’re the man Sam. By far the most compelling review of the mini I have seen. I’ve been riding the Dual+ for 1.5 years now and highly recommend the longer board to newer riders. I’ll be getting the Mini for shorter commutes.
thank you dude appreciate that - the mini is fun! you’ll enjoy
Good summary of the Mini S's functionality.
Can't wait for your Mini X and Stealth reviews.
Thank you for making this video once i heard about the new boards being cheep I started saving up. You arebone of my favorite UA-camrs and I was whaiting for you to make this vidio
you killed this review thanks man, ordered a mini can't wait.
I think the X is better over all for everyone. The onewheel tho' is the best one for filmmakers. Good review
thanks anto - you gonna get one?
Sam Sheffer , i want one so much. I’m going to try and get it for summer (save up a bit), i saw a camera man use it on a small production recently and fell in love with that thing!
I got the mini x. I want to trick it out.
I've wanted to tweet you asking about this vid but here it is! Nice work, dude. Looking forward to your Stealth review.
Dope video, Sam! I was hoping you’d drop one about this board. I’ve been waiting for Boosted to make something like this for years. I just ordered a MiniX. The 10 week wait time is going to be a rough one!
That longcat part might be the best thing ever
:D
lol it was classic
now we need the boosted stealth review asap. I know you got access to one.
Much love to you fro putting this videos out here, all the way from So-Cal!
Nice review, like the spec snippets a lot, comparisons, really nice. Thanks!
do you prefer the mini to the longboard for cruising in the city? The roads can be really uncomfortable
Very Cool video Sam, great information and tight shots bro!! love it! G'day from Melbourne, Australia
The Ruroc Helmet looks beautiful
You should do a budget electric skateboard review, compare the Meepo against similar priced boards.
Another excellent review! Thank you Sam!
Love it! How does it compare to the inboard, or those green electric skateboards Sara Dietchy used?
That helmet is super dope you should leave a Amazon link to it in your descriptions
5:19 'if you don't intend on travelling....the S is good for you" Didn't you mean if you DO intend on travelling, the S is better because the battery is TSA compliant when the X's extended battery isn't.....?
Correct - I misspoke and commented. Gonna pin that!
Thought I read on Boosteds IG that you can put the S battery in the X for travel?
Joe Pfab I emailed them with that question and the batteries are not interchangeable. The X only accepts the extended battery and the S only accepts the regular battery.
Kyler Fear well damn. Guess I’m not traveling with the X after all
that's my big dilemma right now. I want the X, but I may wanna travel so idk.
As an avid long boarder I have always wanted a boosted board. When I saw they had a board for $750 bucks I was ECSTATIC! However, I am a little hesitant because of its size. I love the long feel and craving ability my long board has but I am not willing to put down the money for the long board version. I’ve wanted one for a long time, and I want to know, should I buy the mini? I love in the city of Milwaukee and use my long board every day to get where I need to go
Awesome and very informative review. Plan on getting a mini X in the near future. Question though, where did you purchase that helmet? It looks awesome!
i"ve avoided putting skateboards in my own vlogs (as everyone else seems to be doing) but the X really does make me think of getting one here in Dubai. Interesting.
Hi Sam, I just ordered a boosted mini x. I live in the city and have comutes around 7-10 miles. I was compelled by the price and size of the mini, but I am still in doubt wether it was the right one for me to get. How much more do you feel the uneveness of the ground beneath you on the minis compared to the boosted longboards? And would you believe it to be a harder ride for longer comutes (too hard)?
I really enjoy your videos. Keep it up!
great questions - i think the longboard is definitely a better option for longer commutes. the concavity of the board may make you a bit sore after 20-30 minutes of riding. and the rigidness of the board is def something you'll feel, whereas the longboards have flex that acts as suspension - hope that helps!
Ulli-s have you ridden a skateboard before
I have ridden a normal skateboard for a couple of years and I have tried longboards for about 15 minutes my entire life ;)
Thanks for the answer. I'm still a bit in doubt, if it can serve as a good transportation device for me. I'm more used to the size and of cause the price helps a lot.
Best Boosted mini review, better than Casey Neistat's better than MKD.. , You are definitely right about selecting X over S, I ordered S first but then cancelled and switched it to X, , waiting time for shipping is 12 weeks !!!!
Great video and proper explanation about the board now we just need to get them in South Africa!
Yoooo the voice over audio is on point in this vid
I'm torn between which to buy. I've saved up enough for the Boosted Plus, but the nimbleness and portability of the mini is really appealing living in NYC. Any suggestions?
if you want longer range and wild speeds and a longer board and dont care for the deck size, stealth is the way to go
I suggest the mini x. It is still nimble and almost as fast as the plus. Plus you will save $400
sorry i misread your comment, could have sworn you said you saved up for the stealth. ok, have you ridden a skateboard before? do you own an electric longboard? what are your experiences riding in the city?
no worries, i've been longboarding around the city (mostly bike lanes and the like) for a couple years and i've had one of the cheaper chinese manufactured e-boards for a couple of months now but i'm ready to make an upgrade
Good review! On a daily basis which board do you think you'll use the most?
Can't wait to see some pro manual this thing for a couple miles.
Sam’s review is literally the best!
Best review online thanks 👌🏾 and what’s the name of your helmet it’s dope ?
Have they told you when they are actually shipping? They told me 3 weeks before I got it, now the site says 7-9 weeks.
Solid overview..nice work Sam! Are you thinking of converting to the short board for your daily driver?
Dope video I always love your videos and a huge supporter of what you do! When are you collaborating with Dan mace?!
Figured the Mini S wouldn't cut it. Looking forward to the Mini X and Stealth Reviews and hoping they can hit that 12 Mile sweet spot at full throttle. But by the time they come out and you can get one, it'll be mid-summer in NYC. Lame....
What’s good Sam. Just curious, have you ever tried the Onewheel? What do you think about it? I love mine.
three years ago :) ua-cam.com/video/1ac-x7i9R34/v-deo.html
Sam Sheffer sick man. These portable electric vehicles are so clutch for the city. Hope you haven’t given up on riding a Onewheel every once in awhile! Haha.. I love it so much.
Mine is coming in 7 days! So excited!!! 😆
I Pius slydogstroh jiijzizzxx
Yo! Sam, can you show how that mini looks and works in the boosted backpack?
Sam - great review on the new board. Question - I'm more a longboarder myself and love the original Loaded boosted for it's carving abilities and softer feel riding around rough roads. Would you say the Mini is drastically different in this regard? I love the idea of having a smaller unit that performs similar to the original board but don't want to sacrifice the fun factor of the loaded boards.
Sam, great video. Definitely considering this as a first electric skateboard. What kind of upkeep to boosted boards have? Would I need to replace parts after a while or maintain it?
Hey, buddy! Awesome vid! I was wondering what the distance is between the front and back wheels? Thanks in advance.
I've been trying to not buy a boosted board for 2 years. How do I not buy one now!?
Sam, what kind of incline can you do on the mini. You mentioned its "torquiy" but how much can 1000w motor do on a hill, and how much do you weigh doing the climb. Thanks
Hey Sam, thanks for this review. I’m not sure about get in on a airplane with the boosted board. Is legal or not? Because I see many videos that is ok to do it.
Nice review! Do you have the opportunity to test the hill climbe capabilities. I know you can find grade hill percentage on the website, but would love to see how it works in real life. I live in Norway and there are no level roads here.
About the Mini's flex. The deck is really stiff. I tried it at the event where the Kickflip was done, saw him doing it. Just amazing if you imagine the board weighs 7+ kilos
Anyways the deck felt rigid, no flex at all, so I imagine it would be a bumpy ride out on the streets.
I didn't get to check the mini on open street though
how hard is it to do a quick turn on this thing? on the longboard boosteds you couldn't kick the back up, but now that you can, is it hard to do while moving? are u-turns hard?
if you're comfortable carving and tic-tacking on a regular skateboard you'll be good. the tail / shape of the board comes in handy
Good luck building your skill sir.
Please tell me where to buy one of those helmets, when he detached the front mouth piece i fell in love.
Hey Sam, thanks for the very informative and well presented review. I own an Acton Blink S and with a hard deck, the road vibrations is very tough on my knees and legs. Do you find that the road vibrations are much more severe on the Mini S vs the regular Boosted Long Boards?
i'm used to the original boosted. i'm afraid the mini won't be able to handle bumps and curbs like the longboard can. thoughts?
This is exactly the kind of test I was looking for, thank you ! I'm planning on buying the x version but i've never skated before, do you think the size makes the board more likely to make you fall when you hit what i'd call "road obstacles" like sewers or whatever ?
you're welcome! i think if youve never skated before, a longboard is a better option bc of its large size - skaetboarding is harder than longboarding
Alright, I'm gonna think about it, thanks a lot !
I say go for the short board man. Hands down. In all cases. Electric or not.
Work your skills
Hey just checking what you thought of the stability of the ride compared to the long board?
Is there absolutely no way you could ship an extended range battery? For example if I were to move from LA to NY could you mail it?
What if you've never even skateboarded before and have a limited budget? Is the Mini S a good idea? 🤔
Hey Sam, does that go for just carry on or can you not bring the X on a plane period? I bought one recently and was looking forward to bringing it on trips.
Really need to get a boosted board or Mini S one day.
What do you mean its an unique experience? Can you try to explain it just a lil bit? Hope u can understand because literally no one has a boosted board where I live and the price tag is waaay too high with the standards here in Croatia...
great video sam, really enjoyed it! keep it up man ;)
Thank you man!
this was sick!! thinking about getting the boosted plus
So we cant carry it in a plane? Ether in hand carry or check in baggage?
Would you recommend the Mini S for people who are not experienced skateboarders? I've been working on building a custom motorized mountain board for a while now, but this is even cheaper than all the parts I would need to buy to finish my mountain board. I chose a mountain board cause I was never an experienced skateboarder and was more comfortable on it, similarly to a snowboard. The Mini S at this price is a really attractive offer, I'm just not sure I want to take the risk cause I've never really skateboarded much before
I plan on getting a boosted for my 2.5 mile commute to work in NY. I'm just not sure if I should get the mini or the plus. I have some experience riding regular skateboards and longboards. I can't decide what would be a better option for me though. Any advice?
When you say you cant bring it on a plane do you mean like whatsoever? You couldnt throw this in your suitcase or anything? Or just as a carryon?
I've heard that it feels unstable at top speed due to the short and stiff deck, how was it for you and is it fast enough for that form factor? Great vid by the way
i was good at top speed but ive been skating for 10+ years - i feel like 25MPH would be dangerous
Thanks man
Yea whoever said its unstable is a pussy and needs to learn to ride. I say MAKE IT FASTER!
Hey Sam! Great review! I also live in NYC and have a question about the Boosted Mini. I currently have a long electric skateboard and I will say that the length really helps when traveling at top speeds over the sometimes really uneven and rocky streets of NY. Do you feel like you don't feel as in control with the shorter board at top speeds? I use mine for commuting and just want to know if I am going to be thrown off the board when speeding down Central Park West haha. Thanks Sam!
In terms of the comfortability (smoother, absorbs bumps, etc), is the mini or the long board better?
Great review. I have the V2 extended battery and love it. I’m from PA
You should organized a group ride this summer on a weekend
The mini looks sick but I am still probably going to save up for a traditional boosted. So, with airline travel, I am guessing you can't check the board either? What about the stealth (I know its a full size boosted board but does it have a prohibited battery for airline travel? If so, I may go with a standard v2 board
Want to pickup the Mini X, still rocking the V1!
Forget the skateboard...where can I get that helmet?
I live in Manhattan, NY. How is the shock absorption for long rides, especially thinking of the x for 10 miles. Will the feet feel like jello? Will it be uncomfortable? Thanks!
Sam, I must get a helmet before my boosted board arrives!
How's your Ruroc helmet for hot NYC summer wear?
Where did you get that nice chrome helmet
I really want to get a boosted board, but have never really skated before. Which should I get as a beginner ???
this may be a stupid question, but can you travel with any of the long board boosted's??
So I'm thinking about buying a boosted board and don't which one to choose. It will be my first time on skateboard but I know snowboarding. I would use it as a mean of transport and would like to take it on a plane also. Longboard seems more comfortable but can I take it on a plane? Or only mini s in my main luggage?
So you cant swap extended battery on X for standard just for travel?
Where can I buy that Daft Punkesque helmet? it's so cool!!!
Should I buy this if I can buy a used boosted v2 board for the same price
If you had to choose V2 over mini x, which would you go with?
I’ve never used an electric skateboard before, which one do you recommend?
As a first time boosted or electric longboard buyer who lives in the suburbs would you go with the mini x or the stealth, I’m a high school student with a job and I have the money for the stealth but I wonder if it’s worth it
get the stealth - think you'd be more comfortable on it for those longer rides / commutes
The stealth does look sexy. I got the mini x cause my skills are for shortboards. Thats why i havent gotten an eboard yet.
where to get your helmet as cool as yours?
Awesome comparison and review. Thank you!
with the normal one you can take the airplanes ? can I buy 5 extra batteries and bring them with me in the airplanes ?
Should I get the boosted board mini x or the boosted board stealth. I ride normal skateboards but I’ve never rode a long board but I really want to buy a boosted board. I really not sure which to get.
So Sam can the mini s go on a plane unlike the x?
Nice!! Thank you for the making a awesome & informative video!! Really considering getting one! Btw saw your hat, pubg mobile?
How safe do you feel going max speed? Do you get lots of wobbles?
I deff got to get me one of this, i live in the Bronx but i love shooting in the city and i think this is a perfect way to get around sense looking for parking is a huge headache in midtown..
yea great for sipping around it traffic because it’s so small
this is awesome cause i was thinking on getting one but i couldn't decide on which one i actually wanted, Thank you brother this videos deff help!!
Allot of Vloggers are into Gaming. Has Casey ever played PUBG or Fornight or is he to cool for school with his insane, no time to play, work ethic?
sam i was wondering how to use afirm to pay monthly
Can I get an extra standard range battery and swap it out mid ride/ when out of battery?
So I've been looking at getting a boosted for awhile, which board should I get for travel? Should I go with a long board where I can swap to a standard battery for travel or stick with the mini s?
depends on how much range you want
Will any of the gen 3 board's have swappable batteries?
They all do, however the mini S can only take standard range and the mini X can only take Extended range. The longboards however can take either battery.
R Durai so probably just get a mini s and a spare battery for travel
I wanna know where you got that helmet Sam, i could definitely use some more protection while riding me 2nd gen board.
Ruroc
Sam Sheffer Thanks, great video btw
Dude, what helmet is that? It's badass!
at the end should'a said if you DO plan on traveling, get the S. If u wana add a whatever
