Fextralife has once again graced us lowly Tarnished with a weapon showcase. Let us gather as much knowledge as we can for a class of weapon we'll never use 🙏
Damn, really?!? Thanks for the info! I had absolutely no idea, despite the long-haft axe being one of my favorite go-to weapons in the game for a long time now 😂… well , I guess that helps explain why I always go back to this axe!
For anyone curious, i'll post the axe's poise modifiers Longhaft Axe 2H: R1, R2, Run R2, Jump R2............ : +4.5 Hyper Armor Poise Bonus (Normal is -10.5) Longhaft Axe 2H: Roll / Run / Backstep / Jump R1 :-6.75 Hyper Armor Poise Bonus (Normal is -18) Longhaft Axe 2H: Charged R2................................. :+49.5 Hyper Armor Poise Bonus (Normal is 19.5) Also worth noting every swing that gives a positive "Hyper Armor Poise Bonus" fully resets your poise bar (you haven't missed it dw, it's not visible). meaning if 2 attacks would break your poise normally, if you swing between hit 1 and 2 you'll only be effected by the poise damage of the 2nd hit.
I gotta say guys I love this series. Bizzarely, I found them both informative, entertaining AND soothingly soporific - I've often fallen asleep lulled into happy dreams with this nerdy video game analysis. I mean that in a good way.
Godrick's Great Axe. First thing I level with stones. It allowed me to do the AoE rune farm so much earlier than expected with it's special ability. Definitely a go to if you want a fast power spike after you acquire this and before acquiring Radahn's swords.
So glad to see the Blessed Dew Talisman and Icon Shield get some love, I use them almost every run and while they aren't great during boss fights they are a great QoL option while exploring and going through normal areas! Would love to see a heavy thrusting weapons or great spears video sometime since they're both weapon classes we haven't really seen before
I loved Godrick's Greataxe on my first quality playthrough. Sure the Bloodhound's Fang and Bolt of Grannsax were my go to weapons. But for either mixing up the gameplay and in places like the Haligtree Godrick's Axe was much better due to it's stationary Ash of War and greater knock back
This is by far my fave weapon class in the game - glad to see it get some love. Godrick’s axe is super strong imo. Works great against NPC invaders and bosses that can be staggered/flung. (Rennala was SO easy with it.) I use it all the time while running around. Also, THANK YOU for giving Butchering Knife the props it deserves. Every game people shit on it, yet every game it is consistently my favorite weapon. It looks great, the self-heal is great, and it does fantastic damage. Easily my favorite weapon out of any weapon in the game.
Been dyin for this one. Hope your holiday was great and relaxing. I'd love to see spears next as i keep finding myself at the end of them on invasions They seem so good.
Finally! Been waiting for this... I'm currently running a badland barbarian/kin of Hoarah Loux build, using the Greataxe and Highlander Axe, along with Roar Medallion and Axe Talisman. Gonna be aiming for Axe of Godfrey and that Elden Lord build soon enough!
Did a greyral start and then went and got the Great Axe from the carriage and was absolutely astonished by the damage. It's an amazing weapon for a strength build start. It's a shame you only get one per playthrough. Though with how early it is, you could probably just have a friend drop you one easily
Fex stays killing it with these weapon breakdowns The Blazing Executioner build actually inspired me to pick elden ring back up Would definitely love to see maybe a great spears video next and maybe a Mohgwyn spear build to go with it? Or colossal swords. Keep up the great work man
I did an Executioner’s Greataxe run. I judge weapons largely by how well they work against the banished knights in Farum Azula and after doing a bunch of strength runs I’ve come to the conclusion that if you’re going to have that much Strength you might as well use a colossal weapon. Colossals can stagger lock the knights whereas they usually find a way to attack when you try to do the same thing with great weapons. Giant Crusher in particular 2-shots the knights since a guard counter breaks their poise and then you riposte them to death.
Late is the hour in which this astrologer chooses to appear...with another weapon showcase! Love to see it. Now lets get that DLC so Fextralife can pump out 6.000 new build videos
Say what you want about Godrick, but him and that axe has style. Finest weapon art when it works, I swear! On a serious note though, I know you mostly cover this stuff in the "build" videos, but it would be cool if you did a weapon video on the catalysts (sacred seals and staffs). They are technically "weapons", so I think it would still fit the theme, and all of their unique effects and scaling being explained as well as how to properly pair them would be an interesting mix on the series!
Thanks for another wonderful video! For your next one, I'm eager to see your takeaways from playing with heavy thrusting weapons. Particularly the dragon king's cragblade.
I was waiting for this. Two Handed Swords and Axes are my go to. I started a Champion char a few days ago and originally wanted to go the Roar route, akin to Godfrey and Hoarah Loux, even calli g my Char Barda Loux. Ended up as Str/Int build since I didn't find any good Axes that I also visually liked. Perhaps once I'm in the Capital and can farm the Gladiator guys Axe I respec. Otherwise it'll be a NG+ run with Godfreys Axe. Thanks for showcasing these weapons. It's always cool to have every info in one place as compact as this. Although spending hours on the wiki has it's charme too. Keep it up
Playing with this weapon type thanks to my odd love of axes in damn near every game I can use one made me realize just how many charged heavies you can get away with. Personally love the base Greataxe, it may not have range, but it does way too much damage for its own good. Also, while it doesn't work on all enemies, and is parryable on npc invaders, anything pancaked from lion's claw can be hit with a followup charged heavy, against grave duelists this leads to a stagger.
Iv been convinced to do a strength great axe build now lol. Would love to see some hammer or spear vids tho. Maybe bows too cuz i love the bow builds u made! Whatever weapon u choose to research, ill tune in
I love this series! Even if I end up not using any of the weapons it's still very enjoyable to watch a breakdown of everything that's available. I hope you're doing spears next.
Thanks for making these videos! I don't even actually play the game but love watching the quality of the content, hoping to see daggers sometime soon !
In defense of War Cry it stacks with the Axe Talisman and the Roar Medallion which you get very early. Then when combined with the Spiked Cracked Tear you get a whopping 26% more Damage on your fully Charged heavies. That's not even taking into account the attack increase War Cry gives in general. I've been using the Greataxe and been 3 hitting bosses. It's pretty insane how powerful it is early to mid game. With it only needing Two Talismans to max out it's potential you get a lot of flexibility on what to add in the late game.
Every time Fextralife uploads, I end up adding 2-3 new builds to my list of future builds, even though I've already done NG+7! So much variety in this amazing game.
Two Omenkiller Cleavers are mindblasting strong and very versatile. Playin' around with mixed status effects...Frost and Fire, bleed and poison etc. Or just pure strength with a spicy incantation. Rips through big enemies. Also the two-handed jump Attack stuns af!!
I have watched all of these videos and I really appreciate them. There is one thing though that I would bring up as a critique. in the title and right at the beginning you bring this "these weapons are the best" energy and then you immediately drop it for nuanced thoughtful dialogue and I think you should keep it going. once the beginning is over you never again talk about the weapon type being the best in the game or why, just why it's good and why its not and that's fine but I love that kind of "this is my favourite thing ever" energy and it would have been a bit more fun if you peppered that energy in throughout the video. either way, I appreciate the hard work and wish you well.
I love that the executioner axe is hard to get…yet I kill a skelly on a hill past Goodrick and get it first try ❤️🙌🏻 Never done a build like this before but I’m excited to try it out since I got the best axe in the game!
I've really enjoyed the crescent axe. Stylish, interesting moveset, and good damage without being op and thus boring. The warped axe maybe should have been an honorable mention. iirc,+12 Heavy infused is stronger than some of the greats. Maybe that changes at max level tho.
I had a great time dual wielding Godfrey's Axe with the Rotten Axe (with Flame of the Redmanes infused) in my good hand. I was able to slink Flame Grant me Strength in there along with Golden Vow. Well over 2000AR, hit like a truck and competently held out against almost all enemy types/bosses.
Really informative and entertaining, even without originally considering an axe run I couldn’t stop watching. I’d love to see heavy thrusting swords, the great epée needs some love!
Damn the Executioners greataxe makes me nostalgic when I used to absolutely demolish the enemies in DS3 with that Lightning bonk from Dragonslayer greataxe
Godrick Axe Ash skill can also be used when you are behind walls to hit your enemies on the ultimate cheese 🧀 the aoe is very big and if you want the maximum Chad axe build combine it with Axe of Godfrey and send your enemies flying, it's extremely tanks and hilariously fun
Yo the next video in this series has got to cover shields! I feel like sheilds get over look in souls games since they’re only useful in the moment and not many think twice how incorporate specific shields into a build.
Just made an exucutioner great axe counter build with flame strike. this build is so crazy lmao especially with the buffs. Fire scorpion, flame grant me strength, golden vow, flame tear and one-handed I'm getting 1543 AR with 99 strength and faith for ng+ build.
Cool. I've been playing a build with Executioner Axe and it's so awesome just breaking guards and 1 shoting most enemies. I found the extra reach over the great Axe dps worth it.
Been on a break from Elden ring for a while but I’m thinking of doing a strength build. I normally go dex but this game has a lot of good strength weapons.

Don't say that! Great axes are awesome! I've used them plenty
I konw every weapons class is amazing
The Blazing Executioners Build is actually really good
Pirate clan would like a word
the meat riding is CRAZY
Longhaft axe also has more poise during attack animations. A similar value to great hammers. This is written in the item's description.
Came here just to say this. It gains insane hyperarmor on it's R2s
Damn, really?!? Thanks for the info! I had absolutely no idea, despite the long-haft axe being one of my favorite go-to weapons in the game for a long time now 😂… well , I guess that helps explain why I always go back to this axe!
Longhaft is great, i'm planning to use it with a greatshield for the dlc
For anyone curious, i'll post the axe's poise modifiers
Longhaft Axe 2H: R1, R2, Run R2, Jump R2............ : +4.5 Hyper Armor Poise Bonus (Normal is -10.5)
Longhaft Axe 2H: Roll / Run / Backstep / Jump R1 :-6.75 Hyper Armor Poise Bonus (Normal is -18)
Longhaft Axe 2H: Charged R2................................. :+49.5 Hyper Armor Poise Bonus (Normal is 19.5)
Also worth noting every swing that gives a positive "Hyper Armor Poise Bonus" fully resets your poise bar (you haven't missed it dw, it's not visible). meaning if 2 attacks would break your poise normally, if you swing between hit 1 and 2 you'll only be effected by the poise damage of the 2nd hit.
The drop rate is so ridiculously low I’ve been farming for 3 hours
I gotta say guys I love this series. Bizzarely, I found them both informative, entertaining AND soothingly soporific - I've often fallen asleep lulled into happy dreams with this nerdy video game analysis. I mean that in a good way.
I thought I was weird coz I always play some of these series before I go to sleep. lol
I've done the same, fallen asleep to these analysis.
I listen to them like a pod cast. Often more than once...
Thanks for all your hard work making these videos! I’d love to see you dig into Great Curved Swords next.
Godrick's Great Axe. First thing I level with stones. It allowed me to do the AoE rune farm so much earlier than expected with it's special ability. Definitely a go to if you want a fast power spike after you acquire this and before acquiring Radahn's swords.

Can you do spears or greatspears next? I'd love to see an analysis on those, even though only a few of them are ever used in game 😅
Yeesss spears/greatspears
I agreeeeee we neeeds it
Really enjoying longhaft axe with warcry/barbaric roar. Just does and absolute ton of damage per hit and often poisebreaks.
This is by far my fave weapon class in the game - glad to see it get some love.
Godrick’s axe is super strong imo. Works great against NPC invaders and bosses that can be staggered/flung. (Rennala was SO easy with it.) I use it all the time while running around.

I lovenyou maxkenseiB
Am I the only one that feels that the Butchering Knife should be a curved Great sword?
A year late reply but no, it's in the proper category
Been dyin for this one. Hope your holiday was great and relaxing. I'd love to see spears next as i keep finding myself at the end of them on invasions They seem so good.
The butchering knife with its heal moveset and look was one of my favorite weapons to do play through with as a lightning dex character

Fex stays killing it with these weapon breakdowns
The Blazing Executioner build actually inspired me to pick elden ring back up

Love it bro keep making cool custom builds too you’re like the only channel doing that now!!!
Say what you want about Godrick, but him and that axe has style. Finest weapon art when it works, I swear! Thanks for another wonderful video! For your next one, I'm eager to see your takeaways from playing with heavy thrusting weapons. Particularly the dragon king's cragblade.
You forgot to mention that the Longhaft Axe has great hyperarmor on its two-handed attacks. It can trade with just about anything.
Love the coverage of my favorite weapon in the game, the Dragonslayer Greataxe!!
These videos are the most informative guides out there for Elden Ring. Can't wait for the spears.
A lot give Godrick’s axe poor reviews but k absolutely love using his axe. Plus the design on his axe is amazing
I've been power stancing crescent moon great axes in the colosseum and I've been having a lot of fun. Flaming strike is my favorite ash to use
Been using it since Fextras last vid and been absolutely loving it
I really like the great axe category. There’s a ton of variety in the category. Thank you for the great vid.
The axe of godrick has been my favorite since my first blind play through on release. First for how beautiful it looks. Then because of how good it is
Great video as always, keep up the good work!
As a fan of this chanell, I wanna ask, will you make a video about the ultra great swords?
Great video, I'll have to try a build with some of these, especially Godricks, I never bothered to pick it up, but I'll at least give it a shot now.
I was waiting for this. Two Handed Swords and Axes are my go to. I vote for spears!
Love these videos. Thank you for these great overviews of various weapons.

Just finished a playthrough with rusted anchor with lion claw aow. It was super fun. I absolutely love bonking enemies with an anchor.
Thanks for all that you do, Fextralife. You guys are always providing top notch information.
Looking forward to your great hammer video! They attack way faster than I thought they would!

Thanks for making these videos! I don't even actually play the game but love watching the quality of the content, hoping to see daggers sometime soon !
Thank you! I've been waiting for this video, great analysis!
As a smaller content creator, your videos are pedagogic. Keep up the great work. Cheers.
I love this series, though I’m more excited about your “all game builds.”
I love your Elden Ring videos, my vote for next weapon class would be great spears!
In defense of War Cry it stacks with the Axe Talisman and the Roar Medallion which you get very early. I have been using Godrick's Greataxe lately. Its awesome in pve but not so much in pvp.
Butchering knife is a greatsword trying its hardest to act like a great axe
Excellent guide series! I can't wait for curved greatswords and spears.
Great for Omenkiller cosplay! And true to the items description “adds vibrant colors to the ongoing mayhem” 🤣
I feel like you're missing an honourable mention for the Pickaxe being powerstanceable with greataxes, so it combos well with the Rusted Anchor.
Would really like to see ‘Heavy Thrusting Swords’ next, only a few of those so would be a quicker video to make one would hope.
The variety of weapons in this category makes it one of my favorites, from an elegant giant knife to a literal anchor
Best Spears would be nice as a next Weaponclass
i need a guide like this for spears. I'm planning to do a shield and spear build.
Keep up the good work, i really love your videos.
Very nice and informative video!
I used the Longhaft Axe in a build once and loved it. Huge range, tons of poise, and it looks bad ass
I would love to see Great Spears and Heavy Thrusting weapons next. Maybe make them into one video considering there are only 4 Heavy Thrusting swords?
Loving these vids, I'd love to see a Fists weapon vid
Thanks Cas. Great video again.
I have watched all of these videos and I really appreciate them. There is one thing though that I would bring up as a critique.
in the title and right at the beginning you bring this "these weapons are the best" energy and then you immediately drop it for nuanced thoughtful dialogue and I think you should keep it going. once the beginning is over you never again talk about the weapon type being the best in the game or why, just why it's good and why its not and that's fine but I love that kind of "this is my favourite thing ever" energy and it would have been a bit more fun if you peppered that energy in throughout the video.

butchering knive is the coolest one, that unique R2 is really good!! 😄
I love that the executioner axe is hard to get…yet I kill a skelly on a hill past Goodrick and get it first try ❤️🙌🏻
Never done a build like this before but I’m excited to try it out since I got the best axe in the game!

The warped axe maybe should have been an honorable mention. iirc,+12 Heavy infused is stronger than some of the greats. Maybe that changes at max level tho.
Duel Wielding Executioner's Greataxe and Crescent Greataxe makes for a very fun playstyle ♥
Love this! Spears next please 🙏
My favorite weapon group hands down! Thanks for the video love!
Nice. Loved using great axe my first playthrough. Shame I never could get executioner axe to drop
“And she’s got a GREAT AXE!” - Al Pacino, at the Game Awards
Well played 😂😂
I had a great time dual wielding Godfrey's Axe with the Rotten Axe (with Flame of the Redmanes infused) in my good hand. I was able to slink Flame Grant me Strength in there along with Golden Vow. Well over 2000AR, hit like a truck and competently held out against almost all enemy types/bosses.
Really informative and entertaining, even without originally considering an axe run I couldn’t stop watching. I’d love to see heavy thrusting swords, the great epée needs some love!
My beloved executioner's greataxe
I love you the moment that skeleton drop you on the beginning of Liurna
Glad to know the crescent axe is OK
Been thinking of using it for a while now.
i wanna see the spears! great videos keep it up.
I would love to see you do videos on hammers and great hammers.
YESSS! I love the large weapons!
Damn the Executioners greataxe makes me nostalgic when I used to absolutely demolish the enemies in DS3 with that Lightning bonk from Dragonslayer greataxe
Curved greatswords or colossal swords would be my vote for next video
Love all of these would like to see Colossal Swords so I can help my Zack/Cloud build
I will start elden ring for the 1st time a couple of days from now. And I really want to use a great axe. I'm especially in love with the godrick one.
Great series, can't wait for a fist/claw/dagger vid lol
I'd like to see spears or halbreds, great vids, love your content and your delivery of material.
Woohoo my great axe ep!
Great videos always 🙏🏿💯. I'm currently doing a faith/quality build with lighting incantation. And the great axes fits well for me
i was waiting on this one
Longhaft Axe absolutely shreds! Wear the Night Cavalry armor and become the Executioner haha
thanks a lot for the vid. i request Colossal swords next
followed up soon by staffs and in short time, crossbows
Just finished the video. Spears next please. But also perhaps a video about ashes of war uses and best weapons for them and the way they scale.
Please do Greathammers! There are some really good midi-bonks out there in Elden Ring.
Thanks for the vid. I forgot that I wanted to try a str/arc build using the omen cleavers
Yo the next video in this series has got to cover shields! I feel like sheilds get over look in souls games since they’re only useful in the moment and not many think twice how incorporate specific shields into a build.
This series is great.
I'm putting my vote in for daggers next!
Just made an exucutioner great axe counter build with flame strike. this build is so crazy lmao especially with the buffs. Fire scorpion, flame grant me strength, golden vow, flame tear and one-handed I'm getting 1543 AR with 99 strength and faith for ng+ build.
I love axes! I have one build with two Omen ones and one with Godricks Axe and i really Like them! The Anker is a Beast too xD
Cool. I've been playing a build with Executioner Axe and it's so awesome just breaking guards and 1 shoting most enemies. I found the extra reach over the great Axe dps worth it.
how long did it take you to get it, ive been trying to farm it for hours
@@Will-ut2qx 45 mins doing runs in the grave yard ... it was lame
do you remember what your discovery was at? @@RevanBC
How about a shields series? I've found so many small shields in the game, but never really thought to use them.
Been on a break from Elden ring for a while but I’m thinking of doing a strength build. I normally go dex but this game has a lot of good strength weapons.
