Many thanks for this. Just to clarify the difference between Becker and Duchenne muscular dystrophy; if you have Beckers, you can usually mobilise after the age of 15 years old. The onset is usually between the ages of 5 and 15, but patients can present even in their 30s. Most patients live into their 30s or 40s.
yeah i DESPISE having this so much, I was actually told that I cannot do sit ups or push ups....that isn't what makes me sad about it obviously, but I just want to be able to run without getting intense pain afterward. (It's like a burning sensation)
I feel your pain :( I can't run again like in my teenage years and it depresses that's this cannot be cured. also can you elobraite more about being told to not do push-ups? I can do push-up,but I'm not sure if it helps my muscles (atleast arms ) to stay function or damage it more. 2 months ago did execcive push-ups (like 30 to 50 per day) and my CPK hit the skies (from 4000 to 20000)
I have BMD and steroids are an option to really help reduce the deterioration in build muscle better. But they must be the steroids that get you high because they didn't want to give them to me at 24. I made a special trip just for a steroid the best breakthrough for bmd. They was treating me like I was a drug dealer or a drug addict even though I have BMD. I also have cardiomyopathy with a defibrillating pacemaker(CLEAR! ZAPPP!!!😲) Implanted. Gastroparesis and acid reflux is the absolute worst of my conditions. Trying to sleep at night and waking up is painful nauseating torture for me every day for a few hours to recover from sickness.

In Becker muscular dystrophy, the mutation occurs in a gene called dystrophin, which is located on the X-chromosome. Dystrophin is important to maintain the integrity of the muscles, so when it is smaller or less abundant than normal, the muscle fibres gradually break down and the muscles slowly become weaker.
