    FPT is easily the better experience imo. Love the player base as well. Most opponents I’ve played are super cool and always willing to help ya with tips.

    first person tennis campaign is great. multiplayer is a bit wonky though, but still enjoyable. thanks for comparing these.

    I'm saddened that my career in tennis got thwarted due to a wrist injury. I'd already made the circuit and played for years as an 18 year old I was going to make it.
    Now these games make me happy that I can enjoy the sport without the pain. 😪

    I would love it if you gave a tutorial on how to use the various movement options. I can’t seem to figure out how to use the option where a I pump my fists to move in the right direction. Also, I can’t seem to use just my hands to play (does it not support that?). And where do I go to create my own custom player and assign those skill points ? Is that only in tournament mode or something?

    • @noblesquashy
      @noblesquashy  9 місяців тому

      I don't think I'm good enough with the movement options to be able to put out a good tutorial on it. When you say " I can’t seem to use just my hands to play" I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Like, move yourself around with your hands?
      You are correct, the custom player and skill points are in tournament mode only. At least, of last time I played. You may be able to customize the player, but not the skill points in multi.

      @@noblesquashy Thanks for the response. Good to know about the skill create player. You are correct, it’s only in tournament mode. Maybe I was thinking of the esports version that one must let you assign skill points to the player you create. When I say use just my hands I mean swing the racquet without holding a controller. Maybe it doesn’t support hand tracking in game. I love the game, but find movement hard to do with the joystick. It has an option where it says you can move around the court in game by holding the controller and swinging your arms, but after trying many times it simply does nothing when I choose that option and try it in game. Really weird. And I have hand tracking enabled.

      @@noblesquashy also, I tried the calibration option for the hand and racquet and could not seem to make it work so I just use the default. But would love to fine tune it if it’s possible.

    Nice review. In Pickleball game you can teleport/auto run and move with the joystick or manually run at the same time.

    I'm completely into FPT lately after physics update. Just won my first ever match vs AI in career mode, and it felt very rewarding. Match lasted 40 minutes, and I was exhausted. Switching from Arcade to Simulation made the game much more challenging and fun. Arcade mode only ruins the game imo.

    • @handyman4048
      @handyman4048 9 місяців тому

      I agree with everything you said. I just bought the game today and I find the physics very realistic and the AI VERY challenging. I have yet to beat the trainer lol. My biggest issue is I need a better way to move around the court. The joysticks are just too funky sometimes. And I can’t get the manual running by moving my arms like it says to, to work! It does nothing even when I choose that setting in options.

      @@handyman4048 it moves you to a spot close where the ball will bounce. Same as moving with a joystick, it's just moves you automatic. To avoid any confusion, I'm talking about First Person Tennis.

      @@PredragDrobac Ooh ok thanks! I really want to be able to move my legs and arms to run there but my space is about 8’ x 12’ so can’t use real running only small shuffles. I hope someday they add an option to run in place in the direction you are facing.

    You should give FPT another go. They just updated the physics and I’m really digging it. Each update makes it feel more and more like real tennis.
    Tennis ESports was garbage imho. Severely lacking in content and near impossible to find another player to compete against. Really wanted to like it.
    You mentioned Pickleball, and if you haven’t played in the last few weeks, you should load it back up. They also updated their physics and now it’s starting to come together nicely. I wanted to return Pickleball cuz the physics were terrible I thought. However, Force and I gave it another go and we both had a great time.

      Tennis eSports has been in public development for only about 8 months, while FPT has been in public development for over a year at this point. It makes sense it has less consistent. I think they have a good dev team, but definitely a lot more needs to be done.
      I was lucky enough to get to play v4.0 of FPT on Steam before the Quest release. Mikori has made some leaps and bounds with that version, and I hope he keeps building!

    I think the physics in Esports are much better and very realistic, but FPT is still the clear winner for me. It's just way more fun and easier for anyone to get into, and the physics also do feel pretty good, even if they're not as realistic feeling as Esports. I also just can't get over the scoring system in Esports. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to use table tennis scoring in a tennis game?

      Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I didn't even know it existed. As just an individual, I don't think I can eat the cost of it yet to do the review. 60 bucks for one month of access, and it looks like the 70 buck adapter is highly recommended. In addition to this, the website is saying it isn't compatible with Quest 3 right now. I like the idea, and will keep it in my head, but will likely not review in the near future.
