The Police LIVE - Rehearsel improvisation (1980)

- Just a catchy and funky snippet of an improvisation from some place between Tokyo and Bombay, at their 1980 'Regatta de Blanc' and 'Zenyatta Mondatta' tours. If you know exactly where, feel free to react.
Doing so many gigs, The Police had little need to actually rehearse anything, so this soundcheck improvisation presents a relaxed side of the group that few have ever heard, where they essentially entertain themselves. Enjoy!
I love this!!! Hi from Easter Island Chile
537 - meraviglioso video sui THE POLICE - ciao da VALERIO !!!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sting rarely sung during sound check. Saving his voice for show
Another Gem. x
Footage from Police Around The World. I played this everyday after school.
Canary in a coalmine bassline; superb!
Der Bass 🤟🤟🤟
Taken from Police around the world realease. Greetings from CHILE
Cool. Hadn't seen this before.
Wow! New for me! Great bass.
Oh how I love this thank you so much for sharing ❤
I ever love this rehearsal version of Canary in a Coalmine, since the days I put my beta hifi tape into the first betamax hifi equipment arrived in Peru at a famous international fair in Lima, it sounded fantastic and the audience that surrounded the Sony Equipment were shoked by the sound and obviously by The Police performance in «Police Around the World».'that tremolo fretless bass shocked me the same as the polyrithmic sound. I bet Sting used an envelope pedal for his Ibanez bass.
Sting at his peak
(Hongkongers will understand.)
🎶😃Yeah-Yeah 🔥 😎 🙌 💪 😉 👌
Si-Si 😉!

Always loved this bit of magic in a bottle. Should be remastered and released in Blu-Ray
They are planning on doing that, this year, did you know?
They are. It gets released next month. My copy (+ accompanying CD) is already on order. 🙂
Love that bass!!
Yesh 😝🎶👍🎉
👀🤗🎶🎵🥁☑️
I have the 4 strings fretless version but I can emulate this 8 strings with an Electro-Harmonix Pod octaver (one octave higher).
It sounds almost the same as this extract.
The sound of Ibanez Musician Fretless bass is the best tone I remember from Sting. 💪🏻👍🏻
This 8 strings version is a BEAST!!!
This is from Canary in a Coalmine
This BECAME Canary in a Coalmine later that same year.
Cool 'Canary' jam thanks !
Sounds like it's about to break into 'Voices' any second (albeit different key).
Could be the Hong Kong disco they played on the 1980 Regatta world tour.
@1:20 "Hey Jeff, there's a sandwich in my kick. Is it yours? Come see."
How did Sting get his bass tone? What kind of gear and pedals was he using?
I think is an envelope pedal and using his Ibanez fretless bass. Regards from Peru.
@@josemengal5339 8 string fretless!
@@franktreppiedi2208 really? I need to see it on pics or the new restored movie «Police Around the World» but I strongly think Sting used an envelope pedal too. 🎵🎼✌
The thing that to this day that annoyed me about the live sets is that they were always pretty much the same from about 79 onwards. So many amazing songs they could have played but didn't. It's even the same with Sting these days, the same old set lists. Look at Pearl Jam for example, different set lists nearly all the time and they've also been know to just decide to do a song when playing a gig.
Canary in a coalmine....i wonder why they rehears it and never played it live...
Not one of the greater Police miracles, in my (humble) opinion...
@@fyycmaybe...but i like it..a kind of ska tune that could do good live
Almost sounds like a phaser or flange pedal on the bass. Maybe chorus?
MXR Phase 90, the orange one. 👍🏻
