here goes again.. I willing to spend $300 to buy this as a "Must buy".. Then my girlfriend is gona be upset at me. hopefully she will not break up with me.. BECAUSE THIS TOY IS AWESOME!!.. I think my jaw dropped 15 mins of your video.
Well, thanks :-/ The extra time was just doing work I'd already done a second time, and it was probably better the first time, since the second I couldn't spend the same amount of time. But... good enough!
awesome video as always, Bruno! Though I think one part you should emphasize is that this is a Soul of Chogokin release. Rant ahead, bear with me. Its NOT a Power Ranger release, neither is it a Bandai of America release. I read through the comments and I am having a headache with people asking or saying if this will be at ToysRUS, why is it so expensive, is this the new legacy, some new line, etc. THIS IS NOT A NEW LINE! The Soul of Chogokin series is an ongoing line of premium diecast collector toys compromising of spaceships, real robots and super robots. The GX-72 Daizyujin (the number designation should inform you that there are other releases before this) is their first release of a Super Sentai Robo. They have also release or are releasing Golion aka Voltron in the States under this line. On another note, love the stop animation and effects, really smooth and professional. Love the comparisons as well.
Actually, this SOC Megazord is a Power Ranger release. The box is an has the official Power Rangers logo and aside from the slip cover for the SOC GX 71 Voltron release, this GX-72 Megazord is the first release in the SOC line to feature a box printed in English! I don't have too many SOC toys because of the prices but I just got SOC GX-72 and it is AMAZING! You can see all the work that has gone into this toy. Because of this, like the SOC 71, I can easily see the price of the GX -72 go up. I still have love for my Legacy Megazord though.
Big fan of the soul of chogokin and also a big fan of the original megazord...highly recommended to everyone..i got one and this is an awesome figure! nice review as well bud!
that is so freaking amazing! like, a hundred times more impressive than I expected, and I had high expectations! thanks for the review and sorry about your editing having to be redone!!
Late to the party, but i just stumbled upon your channel after a renewed interest in MMPR. I love how much extra effort and flair you put into your videos. You have tons of both style AND substance. Great reviews dude! No-brainer, instant subscribe.
@@Audiablo Thanks! We have hundreds of videos on this channel featuring stop motion & VFX. It's what we work on every day. Downside being the time involved, so the better videos do take several months to complete. The next animated video is Beast Morphers, which we're hoping to have up this week.
I ordered mine earlier in the week from Amazon and it arrived today. I happened to stumble on it at a discounted price so I saved $50 on the original price. When I got the Megazord together, it looked very impressive. With all the extra parts and paint details they put into this set, I would call this the definitive version of the original Power Rangers Megazord. It may be a little on the expensive for some, but it's well worth the money and I'm glad I got one. It's one of the jewels of my collection.
I went with the Legacy myself even after getting my favorite Super Robot of all time from SOC (GaoGaiGar) and being blown away...the simple fact is that I have seen so many reviews of this thing where the metal tarnishes incredibly easy...and I liked the look of the Legacy Dragonzord so much better. I love how the Legacy pieces pay complete tribute to the vintage brick while having classy updates. The SOC stuff is just a little too high end for me. Hell, the GGG is probably the figure that impressed me the most of all, but I still prefer the 1997 DX version. Great video though, amazing stop motion work!
@@thegamewin100 well you are right and wrong yes that did happen once or twice but tyrannosaurus was really the only one of the original 5 that fought by himself quite a lot
That's always the case in all Sentai/PR, you rarely get them using the individual mechs to fight monsters. I think Kiramager might be the most involved all the mechs have been in a long time
Thank you for making this. It's super informative, & really fun to watch. The stop-motion animation is a VERY nice touch. I grabbed the Legacy Megazord shortly after it released (to replace my looong-lost '93 Original), but the SoC revision just looks SO much better to me. Now, even Legacy model looks "causal" by comparison.
Though i have read various articles about the (back then) upcoming release of this version of the Megazord, it wasn't until this review that i got to see it in all its glory! The stop-motion intro was fantastic on it's own! The tail articulation on the T-Rex reminds me (and i think everyone can agree) of the Legacy Dragonzord's tail. The folding feature on the Triceratops is such an incredible added feature. ^_^ Personally, i don't think there is no other version of Megazord/Daizyujin than this, this is the ULTIMATE version, every bit of articulation or paint detail is there! My mouth dropped several times during this review! I want to thank you for making such an awesomely outstanding video, even if you had to go through editing Hell to do it! That's like saying you hate to say it, but this palace is a little nicer than this one bedroom apartment. ;) Huge difference between a $49 and $300 price point. Legacy Meg was fine, but this thing is ridiculously fancy. Probably overkill for someone who isn't a big fan, but for people who are, it's incredible!

Legacy Zord will still have a place in my heart but the Soul of Chogokin will be on my top shelf next to my other MMPR Legacy Toys. now im waiting on the Red PR Movie Helmet & see how that compares to my other Ranger Helmets
here goes again.. I willing to spend $300 to buy this as a "Must buy".. Then my girlfriend is gona be upset at me. hopefully she will not break up with me.. BECAUSE THIS TOY IS AWESOME!!.. I think my jaw dropped 15 mins of your video.
Thanks! If you've got literally any editing software, you've got it! In my early days it was a VHS camera and I'd edit with two VCRs connected to each other. These days... whatever you're using to leave the comment might have free sufficient software already installed. Popular programs include iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere... stop motion is just lots of pictures. Take lots of photos, import them to your timeline. (I'm a Mac person but PC has its own editing software too).
Now THIS is what the Legacy Megazord should have been. Or at the very least had more articulation. I don't get why these toy companies don't make their premium Megazord with just a bit more possibility. People want to do more than just move the arms up and down.
Lincoln Beckett-Scott I think it would be due to the development cost. Yes, we as collectors wouldn't mind the price range and probably in fact prefer it for more posebility, but the main target for these toys are 5-10 year olds. I think they're trying to keep the toys relatively reasonable. As for the Legacy line... you've got me there. I don't understand if the legacy line is aimed at collectors why they wouldn't try harder to give us more posebility than just arm rotations :/
I mean, they do. That's what Chogokin is for. The reason Bandai initially stopped doing it was to cut costs to themselves and the consumer. Chogokin became a premium kind of line. That being said I agree they should keep making these quality level of collector's items ALONGSIDE the Legacy Line.
Every point of articulation and every handpainted item makes the price go up. At some point there is a ceiling that a consumer is willing to pay and the company knows they will make back. If they know the demand is high enough for these premium priced items they'll gladly make more. 300 dollars sounds right for a product like this but I personally can't justify myself spending that much for it.
Each new point of articulation is now a separate mold which hikes up the price. Now personally I think Bandai needs to make things easier on getting these guys. Like purchasing online is much easier for consumers then going to every Toysrus or Target in the area. But the first Legacy megazord I think was just a case of "Would this product even sale". First they did the original all plastic. It was successful and then they made one with more metal diecast parts. Now making a 3rd version could be a hard sale at the moment. Next they made Dragonzord and did some pretty damn fine work with that one. Tigerzord is pretty impressive compared to the original. I wish they'd did more with the legs. Thunder Megazord was a lot of work and I think we start to see some limitations as it's still got some parts to be desired. Their Zord builder parts are a double edged sword. Ninja Megazord is awesome but again tiny little issues(Falcon Zord connection) plague it. Then you start to see why this thing is 300 bucks. I'm hoping future figures are a tad bit easier as the design in general is pretty similar. Now paint job wise I sorta feel they could do a little like the Gundam models. Do just enough for display but then hardcore folk can come in and take it further. Articulation and Joints are really something they need to work on though. Shogun would be very impressive if it had articulation.
That was actually some of the appeal, at least to me, back then. I saw the show and said, "I can teach myself how to do this!" It was easy to figure how a lot of things were done, but even so, it worked very well on the show and was a lot of fun to watch. I loved the fact that it wasn't all super fancy CG. That just doesn't do it for me like PR did.
MMPRtoys it was the same for me. It was like those old Godzilla movies and ultra man. It was funny to see them fight the monster in those balsa wood sets. Even now in newer seasons, the fact they still resort to people in suits to be the megazords is fun to see.
Bruno that was an awesome video those zords look Morphinominal I have to get this I love how the zords are 100% accurate to the show and man the Tyrannosaurus looks fantastic
Getting Soul of chogokin megazord and dragonzord for $300 has got to be one of the best deals I ever found... This video proves how awesome this version is! Awesome stop motion animation!!
thanks for the review Bruno. I really appreciate your hard work. It's a great toy.For some reason it just drives me up the wall that the hands are black. They did so many things right, but Daizyuzin just had those honking metal fists! (or weird human hands with a sparkly silver glove). It's a beautiful piece though. A must for a lighted detolf display cabinet.
I think they went more from the design illustrations by PLEX for the coloration (Tsuyoshi Nonaka and Daishi Kato were both in charge fo this figure, after all), where the hands were the same dark grey as the Mammoth head.
Good job Bruno. I had passed on this because I didn't need a $300.00 Megazord. But thanks to you I was proven wrong and got it on Bigbadtoystore. Thank you for your hard work.
You were finally able to get this finished? I'm glad to see that. I've been seeing your rants on FB about how the video file wasn't cooperating with you.
It fought with me until the end! I was up late last night trying to get it done. The export was going to be so long I let it go overnight and got up early today, only to find half the video hadn't exported! I've been a professional editor for almost 20 years. No project has ever given me this much trouble. It must be cursed! Hopefully it'll at least do okay now that it's here?
Brilliant review as always Bruno! This thing is incredibly tempting but 300 is just too much for me. Leave it to Tamashii to make a definitive version where BOA never could, though. Totally what Legacy Megazord wished it couldve been.
Legacy Megazord was a $29 version that they re-released with nicer paint and die-cast metal (bringing it to $49), but it was just kind of a cool thing for MMPR fans for an anniversary. At the time I don't think Bandai intended to do a whole big thing, but I guess the sales were good. Bandai can't make a $300 Megazord and sell it at TRU. They have more restrictions from retailers. However, Dragonzord & Titanus can stand next to this new thing and not look out of place at all, which is great. Thunder Megazord was $100 less (and it's a bit bigger) but many fans didn't want to pay that much. This is certainly a you-get-what-you-pay-for kinda deal.
Yeah dont get me wrong im content with my 2010 megazord next to legacy dragonzord, legacy thunder etc lol but its great that a "premium" alternative is available now for those who always wanted one.
At last a well-articulated Megazord. I would like to know why both Sentai toys and Power Rangers, to this day are still such blocks. Why do not they take notes of Transformers toys? They also have combiners, which both separated and combined have good joints, while the Megazords to this day can hopefully lift their knees ...
Transformers have they’re issues they have bad qc and really bad join tolerances also they break so easily and like you said they do have separate robot modes but that makes the alt and combine mode suffer
AMAZING toy and that stop motion animation is OUTSTANDING! Love that box art! I can't wait for mine to arrive. Also thanks for the comparison shots. Sad about the wheels not rolling though but everything else is incredible! Thanks again for your hard work with this video! Well done again!
300 OR SO DOLLARS!!! I want it, but I can't have it, but I must have it, but I can't afford it, but I must afford it, but I want to afford to want to need to have it to buy it to have it AHHHHH!!!!
I got mine a few days ago, and yes, this is the Megazord that you need to own if you love the show. And yes it isn't a kid's toy, and yes it is expensive. But my goodness it's amazing
Another Great Video Bruno. You always do the BEST motion capture videos for Power Rangers toys. By the way are the T-Rex teeth very sharp too? I love that the mouth cannons are molded and not a sticker this time and love the tail too😊
this video makes me cry of joy especially because the music but its just beautiful how tokusatsu and power rangers changed my life and im only a teenager
MMPRtoys do you think they'll release a Soul Of Chogokin MMPR Dragon Zord & Titanus Zord that is compatible for Ultrazord combining with this Megazord in the future?
Awesome Megazord, but the release timing is wrong. And the price is too high and not practical. I already spent a fortune to get the mmpr Legacy Ultrazord, and I am content with what I have, so this is a pass for me.
What do you mean the release time is wrong? The right time is set by the company, which thinks it's now. :) The price is fine for the people this is aimed it. It's not going to be a mass release at Toys R Us. This is for the very serious collectors that want a crazy fancy thing, and this is it. People paid $300+ for the $49 version when it went out of production. Fans have the money. This is actually worth the price.
Wrong timing as in, I wish this was release before legacy Megazord. Before people had spent a fortune on getting the legacy Megazord. I would get this if they didn't release the legacy Megazord back then. Yeah this is only for the die hard fans.
I have a pre-order for this and i'm having second thoughts. While this megazord is great in comparison to its other versions, in comparison to other soul of chogokins, it's a step down. The lack of functional wheels and accessories are a concern, especially since the voltron that came out a few months ago had so much going for it. The video doesn't deserve a thumbs down, but the product as is doesn't quite justify the price tag.
I'm too young for MMPR myself (I was a Wild Force - Dino Thunder kid), but I remember my parents got an original megazord once in a car boot sale. Aside from the Mastadon's head being missing, it was great! I think I might have also have gotten a Lightspeed Resuce one as well, IIRC.
Some of the stop motion in this video is professional quality. It's really impressive.

Thank you so much for doing this and all your hard work. This is with out a doubt he best megazord design ever made. This is a must!
That animation looks better than the actual tv footage lol!
Truthfully one could redo many of the effects from the show if not splice together a ton of the footage much better.

Well of course, the picture quality.
Everytime you do your short laugh I have to laugh out as well. It really is contageous :D
That Megazord is amazing!

You are the only UA-camr that reviewed this in less than 20 minutes
Bruno that was an awesome video those zords look Morphinominal I have to get this I love how the zords are 100% accurate to the show and man the Tyrannosaurus looks fantastic
I always just assumed longer, more show accurate arms for the T-Rex couldn't be possible for the Megazord transformation... but they made it happen!
i love Power Rangers, and i love how meticulous you are with the reviews. 1 of my favorite subscriptions.
An awesome expensive thing. I must save up and buy this :D
Jmaster99 Hey isn't the the yugioh 5ds legendary dragon mark !!? :-D
Yes. Yes it XD
Jmaster99 Hay do you play yugioh !?
:-)
Jmaster99 you got less than 6 weeks till release date!!!
Yes I do :D
Bandai should pay you for this review because I (and I think many others here) decided to buy it because of this awesome review!
Getting Soul of chogokin megazord and dragonzord for $300 has got to be one of the best deals I ever found... This video proves how awesome this version is! Awesome stop motion animation!!
thanks for taking the extra time to edit this. PS...im sooooo jealous right now
thanks for the review Bruno.
Hmm... they got the hands right on the giant vinyl figure.... wonder why they didn't do it here?
I think they went more from the design illustrations by PLEX for the
coloration (Tsuyoshi Nonaka and Daishi Kato were both in charge fo this
figure, after all), where the hands were the same dark grey as the
Mammoth head.
Excellent video. I watched it 4 years late but it is fantastic. Impressive special effects and funny jokes. Great job.
Damn it Bruno you're making me want to spend money!! Lol.
This is some of best animation I have seen from you guys! This deserves a thumbs up and share from everyone 👍
what's your secret for stop-animation this great.
Good job Bruno. I had passed on this because I didn't need a $300.00 Megazord. But thanks to you I was proven wrong and got it on Bigbadtoystore. Thank you for your hard work.
Amazing review and figure!!! Thank you for all your hard work and keep it up brother...
Been waiting for this one man. Great video yet again.
It came out looking good. In the end, that's the goal right?
What would you rather get first the thunder megazord or the ninja megazord and falcon megazord
WOW! Your stop motion is sick!
megazord with joints?? OH YES!!!
Well that's the best intro I've ever seen. Job well done!
I'm shedding tears in its beauty!!!!!!!!!!
Me to
I was concerned ( as I mentioned on your Facebook ) this makes me feel better already. Thanks Bruno!
This is Masterpiece quality. I approve.
Bruno, well said. I agree 100%
I love the animation you all do.
Awesome, simply awesome!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🙌🏽
thanks for the hard work for us, bruno!
The bee monster can be called bee sting
AMAZING toy and that stop motion animation is OUTSTANDING! Love that box art! I can't wait for mine to arrive. Also thanks for the comparison shots. Sad about the wheels not rolling though but everything else is incredible! Thanks again for your hard work with this video! Well done again!
300 OR SO DOLLARS!!! I want it, but I can't have it, but I must have it, but I can't afford it, but I must afford it, but I want to afford to want to need to have it to buy it to have it AHHHHH!!!!
Cool
I got mine a few days ago, and yes, this is the Megazord that you need to own if you love the show. And yes it isn't a kid's toy, and yes it is expensive. But my goodness it's amazing
It does look like an irresistible buy.
This set is PERFECT for stop motion.
“You don’t want to see mastodon butt do you” creepy people
Yes
Another Great Video Bruno. You always do the BEST motion capture videos for Power Rangers toys. By the way are the T-Rex teeth very sharp too? I love that the mouth cannons are molded and not a sticker this time and love the tail too😊
Oh man...SOC Dragonzord is coming isn't it...
*1 year later* ok guys, it’s been about six months since dragon zord, so say hello to the DZ soul of chogokin Titanus!
that intro was awesome!! I'd love to see a behind the scenes or tutorial
Best. Megazord. Ever. Made.
Terrific video! I’ve got the different art box, the usual Soul of Chogokin black color. I don’t regret this purchase.
IT.....IS.....PERFECT!!!!!
I was at the tamashii nations world tour in NYC and I saw the soc megazord and I was blown away at how articulated the soc megazord was
burno im in love with that zord
Me too!
I always though videos like this, and the Thunder Megazord got a lot of views. You always entertain while going over everything
I love the stop motion animation!
this video makes me cry of joy especially because the music but its just beautiful how tokusatsu and power rangers changed my life and im only a teenager
MASTERPIECE DINO MEGAZORD!
"MASTERPIECE COLLECTION" would be a suitable name for this line.
MMPRtoys it already has a name, it's part of the "soul of chogokin" line, not sure why the reviewer never mentioned it once.
MMPRtoys do you think they'll release a Soul Of Chogokin MMPR Dragon Zord & Titanus Zord that is compatible for Ultrazord combining with this Megazord in the future?
i hope they make Goldar and Divatox evil zords and a King mondo figure with moving gears
How long did the StopMotion segments take to make?, they where so somooth, professional quality
I THINK I NEED THAT
The first realistic moving Megazord. Awesome.
I need this in my collection lol
I saw these at NYCC 2016. Absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to get mine :D
it's so beautiful! *weeps*
Great review, kept me interested all the way. Others I've seen were too boring. Keep up the good work.
MMPRtoys Completely agree. this is phenomenal and definitely worth the price.
Rain Chang it's two different lines. this isn't part of the legacy line.
THIS THING LOOKS GREAT!!!!
Wish I had the cash.
Love your videos, Bruno
This is the best!!!
