    For me, I want the Juniper version. Buying the existing version would need additional price reduction. I was anticipating the Model Y purchase during the northern hemisphere summer 2024. However, adding an adjustable air suspension (like Model X) as an extra cost option would make the deal now. We need more ground clearance for some primitive roads in Mexico.

      There wont be air suspension on model Y, but suspension overall will be much better! I have MYP 2023 and drove my friends M3 Highland, suspension so much better, car is more comfortable and quieter!

    Why would you buy now? The current MY will lose so much value once the Juniper is out. And then you're either stuck with the old version or (maybe even worse) you will sell the old MY and lose a lot of money. Either way: At the moment it will cost you a fortune just to drive the current MY for 1 year. And Imo the car is too outdated and not exciting enought to justify that.

    Tesla's usually late because they're setting too ambitious goals. But usually do get there - prod FSD excepted. But delaying Juniper so as not to upset mainly the US/NA market - their biggest seller by far the Y - is such a mistake. For a few more sales due to the US grants on home grown EVs&batteries, the majority will consider delaying knowing with the Highland what the Model Y will soon be - i.e. much better.

    There is no point in introducing a revised Model Y that doesn't have a) 800V charging and b) fast charging in excess of a 400 kW (peak) charging rate.
    Introducing anything less would just be introducing an obsolete product. Vehicles being introduced in China right now already have those features, e.g. the Zeekr 007, and specs like that will soon be the norm.

    • @bullshitbingo2259

      Yeah, the thing is, Tesla is far behind in technology adaptation. Anither point is the infrasteucture. They do not even have 800V chargers, so there is no point for Tesla to change their mass produced vehicles over to 800V. Tesla's infrastructure is holding it back - comical.

    • @chris27gea58
      @chris27gea58 3 місяці тому

      @@bullshitbingo2259 The limiting factor is Tesla's EV motors and electrical architecture. The v4 Supercharger has a peak voltage of a bit under 1000V and peak power of 615 kW. That charger will support 6C - 8C charging for EV batteries of average size making 10 minute recharges very impactful (even if a full 0% - 100% recharge takes a bit longer than that).
      Additionally, Tesla needs to do the chemistry and cell science to make the cells for such fast charging batteries. Currently, Tesla isn't even close.

    Waiting for the anti-China/CATL LFP hysteria to calm down, and see where the market/regulations are next year. No use rushing into possible another economic storm when 'everything' is uncertain. What is certain is that Juniper is already on the books regarding design/production, b-b-but I'm also thinking that Juniper could do 48V/drive-by-wire🧐👍Yeah, there could be some hesitation to buy now, but the US market is soft anyway, so let things stand until EV sentiment improves. Not like this will make 2024 inventory numbers skyrocket, which only means a possible price cut to maintain present production/price/performance which is still going to be leading GM/Ford EV delays. Of course Hyundai/KIA and Volvo are not waiting, and could pick up market share. Also waiting for Tesla lithium/battery production to come online in late 2025. Not like there's nothing-to-do or sell, with Cybertruck/Semi/Optimus ramping, and so many other things going on at Tesla.

But what I am really curious, is what will happen with the sales of the model y, when the "next gen" smaller crossover will come out. Because from what I gathered from all over the internet (as believable rumors) it will be a car around the size of the vw id3 (somewhat taller and with a little bit more space in the boot and on the inside) and the price tag of a fully loaded vw polo. • @TheLDunn1

    EV's still expensive in UK. Viking needs to qualify his statements when he says EV's are no longer expensive / same cost as ICE etc.
    The starting price for a Model Y long range in the UK is a few pounds short of £53,000. At todays exchange rate, that is equivalent to $66,500 - & private buyers in the UK do not get any $7,500 federal tax benefit.
    The Viking has repeatedly stated that the price of the batteries are dropping & as the batteries are such a large percentage of the cost of producing an EV, therefore the cost of EV's will come down. Therefore I feel it is reasonable to assume tht any one deciding to wait for a Juniper Model Y, if it comes in say a years time, should not end up paying significantly more than the price today, & in theory, should end up paying less given the battery cost argument heard hear repeatedly. The only caveat to this is in territories, like the US, where there is a good tax incentive program for EV's, & this could potentially be withdrawn by a government at any time in the next year, then, you might end up paying more.
