Waiting for the anti-China/CATL LFP hysteria to calm down, and see where the market/regulations are next year. No use rushing into possible another economic storm when 'everything' is uncertain. What is certain is that Juniper is already on the books regarding design/production, b-b-but I'm also thinking that Juniper could do 48V/drive-by-wire🧐👍Yeah, there could be some hesitation to buy now, but the US market is soft anyway, so let things stand until EV sentiment improves. Not like this will make 2024 inventory numbers skyrocket, which only means a possible price cut to maintain present production/price/performance which is still going to be leading GM/Ford EV delays. Of course Hyundai/KIA and Volvo are not waiting, and could pick up market share. Also waiting for Tesla lithium/battery production to come online in late 2025. Not like there's nothing-to-do or sell, with Cybertruck/Semi/Optimus ramping, and so many other things going on at Tesla.
This is the toughest year for Tesla as they are between waves. If marketing is the only lever then pull the lever. The extending of Model Y is central.
Design changes will be a big part of the update, similar to the 2024 M3. They won't change those without relaunching the vehicle as they did for the M3. Suspension tweaks and a few more cabin changes - including removing the stalks and adding a rear LCD screen.
Tesla model Y Juniper 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I was so happy when rumors said there it was going to be a new car mid year… I’m waiting to buy it and I don’t wanna buy the last “old” model y and maybe after 4-6 months the new one gets out.. 😭😭😭😭
Hello Viking, we are writing to you from Spain, with these delays we are going to decide to buy another brand like Byd or Polestar. The Model and it looks dated. greetings
@@ktms1188 Plenty of electric SUVs on the market now. A lot of them are cheaper than the Y, eg Volvo EX30, and some considerably so, like BYD Atto 3 and Seal U.
@@ktms1188 lol Model Y is crazy outdated. Every single SUV on the market has better specs today, even the ID.4 Pro has. Wtf is 260miles of range in 2024. The interior of the Model y looks 20 years old because it is bland and cheap - just slapping a touchsreen in the middle is not a design and not quality. Only NPCs are buying Teslas at this point.
Model Y is 20k cheaper than last year. Is clear that Tesla prices were a rip off for the quality they had like many said. Now they are well priced. And they have improved many aspect of the cars. They are an intelligent buy now.
if the standard range would have similar range as the current long range, and same price as current standard (maybe an increase of 2-3%) it would become an even better buy for everyone that really wants a crossover in the C-D segment. But what I am really curious, is what will happen with the sales of the model y, when the "next gen" smaller crossover will come out. Because from what I gathered from all over the internet (as believable rumors) it will be a car around the size of the vw id3 (somewhat taller and with a little bit more space in the boot and on the inside) and the price tag of a fully loaded vw polo. So...how in the world would they keep up with demand, if this is true, I don't know
I got a new model Y in December and have no regrets at all. My best car ever. You can’t spend your life waiting for a new model. If you want a model Y now, get the existing model, you will not regret. BTW the suspension is noticeably better than earlier model Y, I think Tesla’s have already improved that aspect
Not agree, Model Y Juniper in the pipeline, wait if you like technology and improved energy efficiency ( and in case you already have a 100% EV right now) 😊
Tesla Fanboys dont want to hear it, but this bla bla is standard for Tesla. Same like the $25k EV since 2018, or 2020, or 2022, or 2024, or 2026 . . . Or their $50k Cybertruck, that wasn't $50k, or $60k, or $70k, but will start at $80k. Lots of talk, no walk.
All new CATL batteries, even if they are being produced now, are in very limited quantities. They are enough to assemble 100-200 cars per month. And it will be like this for another 5 years. And only then, when the volumes grow, Tesla will start installing them.
when model y delivery numbers tumble and stocks too ( cause there will not be a model 2 or decent cybertruck numbers) then juniper will see the light faster than a falcon 9
They are delaying it so that the current Model Y will be sold as plan if not many orders will be changed to refreshed one and that will be a lot of money waste and cost for Tesla. I do think Tesla will not allow producing/selling Model Y refresh before most of the ordered current modell Y are sold
I believe the report is targeting all the prospective buyers who after the New Juniper Model Y as Tesla China just released the new HW4 updated Model Y! Many car influencers told Chinese buyers to Hold and wait for Juniper😂
I've waited for it like I waited for phones. First once never the best. But second learned from the past but still could be better 3th integrated and remodeled with more love and integrity. So I'm waiting Tesla until it comes out. I've waited sins it came and won't fall for the car trap.
My problem is that in the time I wait for the Juniper version next year, I will have read quite a few more of Elon Musk's tweets which push me further and further away from having anything to do with Tesla and Musk.
It doesn't seem cheaper here in Australia Sam! I've been waiting to buy the model y for years and years but now I'm going to look seriously at the Volvo offering
Equates to $54,000 Australian. Would hardly call it cheap. That’s definitely luxury vehicle territory, which is the case for all EV’s despite them being cheaper to build. On top of that, you’re committing to limited range and massive insurance costs.
@@sun-man Why? Seems strange that you are committed to just one drivetrain without looking at all the options? Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them a troll. I've looked long and hard at all of this and still can't make a great argument for an EV at this point.
@@brandonvernet Don't I? Wow. So they're more expensive, don't go as far, devalue quicker and have other compromises as well but it's about the tech you say? I work on total cost of ownership with vehicles which is part of the reason we could easily afford one but choose not to.
I’m disappointed. A whole day has gone past without the Viking announcing a “revolutionary” new battery that will be a “game changer”. Come on Sam, pick up your game.😅
@@robertfonovic3551 Maybe they're not releasing it as they're spending all their time polishing the cybertrucks after they've been outside in the weather or a bird crapped on them?
To milk new Model 3 sales to their maximum potential of course, I bet soon they will change their plans again because lets be honest nobody loves sedans anymore.
I don't understand how Tesla is going to be producing CATL batteries. How does that work, under licence or something? Is this confirmed or just speculation? It sounds unlikely.
If CATL licenses battery tech, i would not expect it to be their latest and greatest. They are likely to keep their best tech in house. More likely the previous generation tech. BYD is also licensing LFP tech to LG, but it is their older 4680 model, not the more advanced blade batteries.
EV's still expensive in UK. Viking needs to qualify his statements when he says EV's are no longer expensive / same cost as ICE etc. The starting price for a Model Y long range in the UK is a few pounds short of £53,000. At todays exchange rate, that is equivalent to $66,500 - & private buyers in the UK do not get any $7,500 federal tax benefit. The Viking has repeatedly stated that the price of the batteries are dropping & as the batteries are such a large percentage of the cost of producing an EV, therefore the cost of EV's will come down. Therefore I feel it is reasonable to assume tht any one deciding to wait for a Juniper Model Y, if it comes in say a years time, should not end up paying significantly more than the price today, & in theory, should end up paying less given the battery cost argument heard hear repeatedly. The only caveat to this is in territories, like the US, where there is a good tax incentive program for EV's, & this could potentially be withdrawn by a government at any time in the next year, then, you might end up paying more.
If this is true, its reallt strange. Why must Tesla reliased Juniper in Europe, US and China at the same time?????? I think tTesla can lose sales on this!
I wonder if it is possible that you made the most damage in these rumors? At least me, I heard that info "don't buy the old model Y, the new one is on its way and it's much better car!" So far only from you. Who knows. You try to promote Tesla, and end up as a factor helping to throw a stick into their gears...
Hey Sam, you are wrong. Here is why: - Tesla will not update tooling at the same time US/EU/China cause that is stupid and expensive (dry ouf of cars) - Tesla only said that updated Y is comming later 2025 in the US (no one said something about EU/China) - Tesla also did the same with the Model 3 why change strategy now? - Tesla sales are well in the US much better that EU/China so no need to rush in the US - Tesla sales in EU/China for new Model 3 are not that great so they need update Y asap - Tesla for now use 0% finance / lease to get rid of "old" Y's but this can't be hold to next year.

Osborn efferct from Model Y towards model 3. I want a model Y but the new version. Tels would have to drop model 3 prices a lot if Juniper comes out now.
I believe the delay is not just directly related to getting LFP batteries in high volume domestically. But also related to moving to 48 volt and its supply chain. The Model Y if it gets the new LFP batteries and 48 volt will be better is every area; ie range, speed of charge and weight reduction.
Tesla have to avoid the "Osborne" effect - an expectation of a newer model depriving cashflow while customers wait for that me model. Sell what you currently make to finance your next model (in secret).

Aren’t they continuously updating the Y anyways? I don’t know why the ‘refresh’ would be such a big change unless it was more body design.
It's just marketing spin. Why waste money on upgrades when it may not equate to increased sales ? Ev sales have tanked, just like Tesla's share price.
Better range, sharper and more modern look, improved interior, improved rims…
This is the toughest year for Tesla as they are between waves. If marketing is the only lever then pull the lever. The extending of Model Y is central.
Design changes will be a big part of the update, similar to the 2024 M3. They won't change those without relaunching the vehicle as they did for the M3. Suspension tweaks and a few more cabin changes - including removing the stalks and adding a rear LCD screen.
I got the impression that the upgrade would include much better batteries. That would be a very significant improvement.
Tesla model Y Juniper 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I was so happy when rumors said there it was going to be a new car mid year… I’m waiting to buy it and I don’t wanna buy the last “old” model y and maybe after 4-6 months the new one gets out.. 😭😭😭😭
Yes, I feel the same way.
Hello Viking, we are writing to you from Spain, with these delays we are going to decide to buy another brand like Byd or Polestar. The Model and it looks dated. greetings
this is going to cost tesla many many sales.
What car are you gonna buy instead? Yeah, there’s a lot of options but none of them will be the new model Y in my humble opinion.
@@ktms1188 Plenty of electric SUVs on the market now. A lot of them are cheaper than the Y, eg Volvo EX30, and some considerably so, like BYD Atto 3 and Seal U.
true@@ktms1188
@@ktms1188 lol Model Y is crazy outdated. Every single SUV on the market has better specs today, even the ID.4 Pro has. Wtf is 260miles of range in 2024. The interior of the Model y looks 20 years old because it is bland and cheap - just slapping a touchsreen in the middle is not a design and not quality. Only NPCs are buying Teslas at this point.
Byd Sea Lion, Byd Song L, Polestar 4, etc... there's plenty of options at the moment. They should release it this year
You can wait all your life for newer versions - there will always be newer versions planned at the time you want to buy a current latest model.
Fortune cookie wisdom
Free FSD swap and 7500 tax credit. I ordered a model y. Selling my OG model 3. No brainer for me.
I’m waiting for an updated Y. It’s outdated currently
Not agree, Model Y Juniper in the pipeline, wait if you like technology and improved energy efficiency ( and in case you already have a 100% EV right now) 😊
Who tf buys the outdated Model Y crap EV at this point? The range is abysmal small, the interior is worse than any chinese car
I test drove the model Y and too much road noises I can wait
Not surprise at all.every time they do such things the share price react badly. Better to wait the right time otherwise backlash again
Model Y should get magnetic suspention like the mach E. If it got drive by wire like the cyber truck and, 48V maybe it could be cheaper to make.
They decided to intergrate the new 48v system in the Model Y refresh.
Probably a good thing. The longer Tesla delay going stalkless on its most popular model the better.
All new CATL batteries, even if they are being produced now, are in very limited quantities. They are enough to assemble 100-200 cars per month. And it will be like this for another 5 years. And only then, when the volumes grow, Tesla will start installing them.
I watched the video with english subtitles. I wonder what that 'Juni perversion' is all about...😳
when model y delivery numbers tumble and stocks too ( cause there will not be a model 2 or decent cybertruck numbers) then juniper will see the light faster than a falcon 9
They are delaying it so that the current Model Y will be sold as plan if not many orders will be changed to refreshed one and that will be a lot of money waste and cost for Tesla. I do think Tesla will not allow producing/selling Model Y refresh before most of the ordered current modell Y are sold
Model Y was introduced much later than the 3 therefore it makes sense that the release of the new model will be later.
Tesla Will loose market to zeekr because of the Old model y is not a good car anymore…. Only in price
Especially with the election coming up.
@@xJI00 Talk to the hand, troll. I'm totally committed to buying an EV.
@@sun-man Why?
Seems strange that you are committed to just one drivetrain without looking at all the options?
Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them a troll.
I've looked long and hard at all of this and still can't make a great argument for an EV at this point.
@@oldbloke204that’s coz ur old and don’t understand new tech
@@brandonvernet Don't I?
Wow.
So they're more expensive, don't go as far, devalue quicker and have other compromises as well but it's about the tech you say?
I work on total cost of ownership with vehicles which is part of the reason we could easily afford one but choose not to.
I’m disappointed. A whole day has gone past without the Viking announcing a “revolutionary” new battery that will be a “game changer”. Come on Sam, pick up your game.😅
Not good
Yes. Good. 😊
Yep, another speak for yourself. We have a BYD Atto 3 mid-size SUV. Don't need another, so ordered a 2024 M3 LR.
Evening mate
Nigh nigh.
I wonder if it is possible that you made the most damage in these rumors? At least me, I heard that info "don't buy the old model Y, the new one is on its way and it's much better car!" So far only from you. Who knows. You try to promote Tesla, and end up as a factor helping to throw a stick into their gears...
BYD Song L wins...
BYD just licensed Blade Battery to Ford and GM suppliers. 8 year license. When will you actually realise the Blade Battery is the best bar none
It is a license just to build the pack. BYD will still supply the structural blade cells.
@@larryevans6739i know
Hey Sam, you are wrong. Here is why:
- Tesla will not update tooling at the same time US/EU/China cause that is stupid and expensive (dry ouf of cars)
- Tesla only said that updated Y is comming later 2025 in the US (no one said something about EU/China)
- Tesla also did the same with the Model 3 why change strategy now?
- Tesla sales are well in the US much better that EU/China so no need to rush in the US
- Tesla sales in EU/China for new Model 3 are not that great so they need update Y asap
- Tesla for now use 0% finance / lease to get rid of "old" Y's but this can't be hold to next year.
If Tesla remove the stalks on Model Y, the sales will not increase in Europe.
@@pauld3327 It may kick out some coustomers, but I think if they will luch the new model Y there will be a lot of customer who will buy. For me its more important that parking works great, for now without the sensors it'S only "okish". I personally wait for the new LMFP batterie I have they feeling this will increased range a lot.
If this is true, Tesla will lose sales to the competition.
Tesla's competition is coming All over them self 😂
Tesla can sell every EV they produce ‼️
Vaporware selling, is getting old .
The Model Y even before the update is better than anything else out there.
Sold my M3 to buy the Updated MY, hmmm now its not coming, i wont wait, sale lost by Tesla !!
I think you may have jumped the gun there. Hard to blames Tesla for your poor judgment.
Sold your M3! When were you expecting the "Juniper" Y to arrive... next week? Was always going to be late this year. Now, even later. Anyway, I feel better as I was wondering whether to get the 2024 M3 OR wait for the new Y. Glad I ordered the M3 LR.
You can wait, it will be way better, but be prepared to pay 2022 prices for this new version. Prices will jump at least $15,000 for the juniper. Also, tesla needs to put this LFP battery into the cybertruck too!
They should introduce the China-version worldwide for the same reason as the Juniper-version.
In a shrinking EV market, it would make no sense to do what you suggest.
Tesla over promises and under (make that fails) to deliver on all. The Y was going to be the last vehicle I’d ever buy. Now options are starting to show up. My patience is done…….and no I don’t want the current Y. M3 sedan, no thanks.
Maybe your next car will now be the second last car you will ever buy? 😂
Agreed. They become a bunch of failed loudmouths and end up delivering average quality and specs for a premium price - A big disappointment!
Osborn efferct from Model Y towards model 3. I want a model Y but the new version. Tels would have to drop model 3 prices a lot if Juniper comes out now.
❤Tesla ⚡️🇺🇸
I believe the delay is not just directly related to getting LFP batteries in high volume domestically. But also related to moving to 48 volt and its supply chain. The Model Y if it gets the new LFP batteries and 48 volt will be better is every area; ie range, speed of charge and weight reduction.
Their will always be a better version of everything. It’s how manufacturers keeps sales going year after year.
Tesla have to avoid the "Osborne" effect - an expectation of a newer model depriving cashflow while customers wait for that me model. Sell what you currently make to finance your next model (in secret).
Nope. EV market is going backwards. So why spend the money now? Simple.
@@robertfonovic3551 And yet the Model Y is best selling car (not just EV) in Europe in 2023. Hardly going backwards, then?
Secrets in the automotive industry are hard (impossible) to keep. And yes, most buyers will wait for the new(er) model. I did, waiting for the Highland before ordering, even though Tesla tried to offer some lame incentives on the outgoing model.
But there's ALWAYS a new model just around the corner.😄
The Rivian R2 and R3 are much more attractive. And you aren't supporting the nut job Elon.
Good! The fewer EVS the better!!
Bed time night
Dream of tesla 💤😍 🌞 🚘💋
There is no official statement from Tesla. So spare us your bullshit.
