  • In this video I recap Aljamain Sterling beating Henry Cejudo. I was very impressed with the fact that Aljamain won despite taking Cejudo's back in the grappling exchanges. I also talk about Belal Muhammad beating Gilbert Burns & some other fights on the UFC 288 Card.

For a debutant, who decently fought to the end and almost subbed such a highly touted prospect.... and almost subbed him a couple times... that was quite impressive, really. If Evloev had gone up against a higher ranked, more experienced guy who elite BJJ, he likely would have been subbed, if caught in those moves that the less skilled debutant Lopes was able to get him in... And, likewise, if Lopes had debuted against another newcomer, with less skills than Evloev, Lopes likely would have been very impressive, to say the least...

I'm completely puzzled why people are so high on Evloev. I understand, he's an undefeated prospect, both in 17 mma fights and in his 7 UFC fights. But Diego Lopes was a debutant at the UFC, and Lopes was NOT touted as a killer on the ground like other undefeated UFC prospects (Khamzat, Bo, Shavkat, Tatsuro Taira et al).
And Diego ALMOST subbed him 2-3 times in the mat. If he had fought someone, say, ranked a bit higher than he was and that someone had elite BJJ, Evloev would have been in real trouble.

I like that your analysis, I just think you are way to ego centered in always referring or going back to the fact that you were right, and when you are wrong, you do everything in your power to defend yourself without owning up to it.

burns pulled out his arm in the first round, which i probably worse than slipping on a banana peel. and it was still a competitive fight.
burns made a mistake rushing into another fight so soon. they said they were gonna give colby the next title fight no matter what, so he could have waited a few months without missing his chance. he honestly probably could have just waited and got the next title shot after colby.

Yes but he’s still right there , he’s in Dana’s good graces , and Colby and Leon are stallers , ufc will give them their do but their going push them to fight or get out . Colby going fight one more big fight and he’s done . Leon their hoping Colby gets him out . Than we can get a champ that will fight twice a year . If you have mega numbers they’ll let you sit like Islam khabib khazmat even Izzy , Izzy type is all us fans and the ufc is what they want .

I’m not saying aljo lost. He won by split decision. I’m simply stating why people don’t like aljo. So just understand that. Aljo won by split decision. It went to the judges and they gave it to him. Aljo is the champ. His grappling is the best in his weight class. His striking is the worst. Simple. His style is boring.
The following are facts and you can’t argue against them. But if you like, you can address them.
    1) aljo has huge size and reach advantage.
Cejudo had to charge in to close distance and aljo couldn’t drop him one time. 2) aljo abuses that knee to the mat. Nobody has perfected that the way he has. Disgusting champ. 3) you know you on your knees way too much when your corner tells you, “I don’t want you on all fours anymore” 4) you know it’s bad when current and ex ufc fighters had cejudo 3-2. 5) you know it’s real bad when New York boos you and you from Jersey. A lot of fans thought cejudo won that 3-2. 6) Aljo yelled to cejudo, “let’s do it” and pointed at the middle like he max Holloway and than ran away!!!
