Gautier Capuçon and Nathan Chan | Barrière Cello Sonata for Two Cellos
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 лис 2015
- The last movement from Jean Baptiste Barrière's Cello Sonata in G Major featuring Gautier Capuçon and Nathan Chan.
I had the great pleasure of participating in Gautier Capuçon's "Classe d'Excellence du Violoncelle" in Paris, France in association with Foundation Louis Vuitton this past year. It was a once in a lifetime experience to be able to work with Mr. Capuçon and it represents a pivotal moment in my life where I learned to think for myself as a musician and an artist.
Be sure to check out www.fondationlouisvuitton.fr/e... for more information!
Special thanks to the wonderful folks at culturebox.francetvinfo.fr for the amazing footage of this concert!

I like how you can hear Mr. Capucon say "Ready?" at the beginning xD this is so great!
It's so god damn impressive how EFFORTLESS they make it look. Sign of a master.
Can I just say how awesome it is to see and hear two male cellists playing together, making actual music together without egos ruining it? Brilliant players, brilliant performance... Bravo!!
I Love how they are both enjoying the piece so much 😊
MY TWO FAVORITE CELLISTS PLAYING TOGETHER!!!!!!!
love how much fun they have ☀️🥳
This is about as good an example as one could wish for of the meaning of the words "con brio". Bravi!
Why is the cello so mellow? 🎼🎶🎵🌄
Glad to see you're still around! Such an honor playing with such a world class cellist, congratulations! :D

Wow that is pretty quick. Who was Barriere? I have never heard of this Sonata. Is it standard cello rep?
Vikram Lothe Barrière was a French composer from the 18th century. He wrote a lot of sonatas and duets for cello. Unfortunately, he is totally unknown today. He became famous thanks of Bruno Cocset who recorded all his work for cello.
Vikram Lothe
Makes you wonder how many amazing works have been lost over the ages
He was a viola da gambist who switched to cello and became a great virtuoso player (as you can tell from the writing in his sonatas). Unfortunately he died young. There are 4 books, with 6 sonatas each written in the 1730’s-1740’s. They are all on imslp, go check them out!!
It’s cool to see how he transferred some viola da gamba bow techniques on to the cello.
Brian Grimm's Cello Zone dudee, that sounds like fun
