Ppl be hating on this guy cos he tryed his best to prevent the shooting of big and the fact puff didn't care about big LA eventhough he was hurt and couldn't walk properly. So there was a reason why gene was going at puff the whole time cos puff is living bigs life. Correct me if I'm wrong. I know puff opened many doors for people but he robbed them too.
Rest in love to two of the greatest, Black Rob & Craig Mack. And for Junior Mafia to be signed to capital records is a low blow to Biggie and disrespectful. Biggie should have been his group’s owner and spread the wealth with his team. Rest in love Biggie Smalls
It wasn't a low blow at all... Big learned the business, and his move went over a lot of heads. I always knew who everyone was signed to, but never put thought into why Big didn't have them on Bad Boy.
Biggie dissed Craig Mack on his own song. The whole second half of Biggie's verse on Flava is directed at Craig. Pretty cold actually. Reminds me of when Prodigy dissed Keith Murray immediately after his verse on I Shot Ya.
I tell ppl all the time Ready to Die didn't just take off as ppl allude to it. Honestly he had a remix for every single they put out.I remember it like yesterday. Once Warning and big poppa dropped then once One more chance came out ppl were upset cause it wasn't the album version. By the time Pac was out on bail Big was at platinum or 1.5 by 96 if that. The remixes, features Big was on and singles helped that album.
R.I.P Craig Mack. This has to be facts. When Big took his artists to Undeas, I though then Big was just trying to start his own thing then just like Pac was doing with Makaveli Records.
Out of all folk who come with stories of entertainers, nobody does it better than Gene because he had hands on with these folks. And for the most I believe him.
It just looks bad because Diddy and big started getting famous then big he got killed and diddy got rich while bad boy fell apart. That’s why people are saying Diddy got big killed, Plus it was a little suspect that 2Pac got robbed in the lobby of the recording studio in New York. Tupac blamed bad boy for setting him up which started the east west beef
He made it seem as BIG was robbing Puff for his groups, but to me it does NOT seem that way. BIG started understanding the game and learning about what he did with his rights, just became a boss in his own right. There's no harm or foul for doing that. He was still doing the work he needed for Bad Boy. While still being a boss elsewhere. Only a person real envious, or a snake would see that as robbing them. This is especially if it wasn't contractual between them that BIG could not do that. It is sad that the talented BIG became a sacrificial lamb for someone else's fame and fortune.. Rest in Power
He never said that. He said that Biggie was writing his daughter's name on the publishing recordings(he didn't mention his daughter here but in several other videos he says it was his daughter's name). So, Puffy couldn't make money off the publishing. Biggie realized that Puffy was stealing money from him and that his publishing/marketing was worth way more than his physical album sales were. Gene just talks sometimes and strings sentences together. It sounded like he was saying that Biggie was robbing Puff by taking his groups to another label but it's how he strung the sentences together. Biggie never even signed any of his groups to Bad Boy records at all to begin with.
gene is wrong with his timeline. the interview was done in the Netherlands in 96. in 96 biggie was hotter than craig. also, in the craig mack documentary, it was said that he was supposed to be on "warning" singing the other part of biggie's verse but he declined
True, Big was hotter than Craig Mack by 96, but the Flava in Ya Ear Remix dropped on July 26, 1994. Craig Mack was definitely hotter than Big in 94. Ready to Die dropped on September 13, 1994, and Big being on the Flava in Ya Ear Remix helped create buzz for the release of Ready to Die, but that still wasn't enough. Gene is right about Ready to Die not really moving any units at the top of its release. It really didn't gain any real traction until the summer 95 with the release of the One More Chance Remix (July 6, 1995). Once that joint dropped people started rushing out to pick up that single along with the album. That single alone moved millions of units. He dropped other singles before the One More Chance Remix, but that is the single that really set the tone for Ready to Die album sales, and is his biggest single to date. I was in the Navy at the time, so I kept track of all these dates because I was always buying music.
@@chrisstyles9429 I'm glad you said it. Craig Mack is definitely the reason people even noticed big he had 3 hit singles before big had 1. Craig's crew said there wasn't any real beef with Big....they may have been a lil animosity because Big's from the hood in Brooklyn, and Craig's a Long Island kid...Long Island kids were stereotyped as being way less hood, and generally well off in comparison.
Yupp!! Lil do people know if your black from Long Island you most like are from the 4 or 5 hood towns that LI has! And a lot of rappers came from these towns! Hempstead, wydanch, Brentwood/CI, bellport! Look it up a lot rappers are from those towns
@@Melted220 Yup, I believe it. Wasn't K-Solo also supposed to be from one of them towns (Suffolk County?). And Rakim rhymed about being a "stick up kid" on his 1st album, he from Li too
The irony is, Craig may have had a harder life than Big at times....he was adopted, and was homeless B4 becoming a roadie for EPMD (Brentwood LI)

One thing I can say about Gene. His stories dont change. I been watching his content for a long time and he always says the same shit no matter who's asking.
That’s how you know he always telling the truth
Not only that, he adds more detail to his stories also
Thats facts, only a few men that have solid info about this situation is this man 💯, Rest in paradise kings and Queens..
Puffy was dead wrong for telling Craig to change his manager, his manager saw through Puffy’s bullshit and wasn’t about to let him rob his artist
@@donrome3835 no he was right and Craig was going to death row for the exposer but wasn’t gonna work
@@torymason5143 i mean even if he did go to Death Row, Suge wouldve ripped him off too
Rest in love to two of the greatest, Black Rob & Craig Mack. And for Junior Mafia to be signed to capital records is a low blow to Biggie and disrespectful. Biggie should have been his group’s owner and spread the wealth with his team. Rest in love Biggie Smalls
Big formed his label afterwards with Un Rivera, called Undeas... Kim was signed to this label, and it was distributed by Big Beat/Atlantic
Yep 💯
Yup big had a habit of doing that tbh. I'm surprised more people ain't call him out for that
He did the same with Lox, Method Man, Ma$e, and Jay-Z. He didn't play on the mic. If you listen close, he takes the style of whoever is on the track.
He sure did

It was gonna be Craig Mack and Run DMC performing at 662 the night Pac was killed
RIPower Mack and Big
I tell ppl all the time Ready to Die didn't just take off as ppl allude to it. Honestly he had a remix for every single they put out.I remember it like yesterday. Once Warning and big poppa dropped then once One more chance came out ppl were upset cause it wasn't the album version. By the time Pac was out on bail Big was at platinum or 1.5 by 96 if that. The remixes, features Big was on and singles helped that album.
Craig Mack was the one yelling East Coast at the 1995 Source Awards

R.I.P Craig Mack. This has to be facts. When Big took his artists to Undeas, I though then Big was just trying to start his own thing then just like Pac was doing with Makaveli Records.
Out of all folk who come with stories of entertainers, nobody does it better than Gene
because he had hands on with these folks. And for the most I believe him.
That verse Craig Mack spit on the Boyz II Men Vibin remix. Too fire.
Much Love to Gene!!
I wanna believe Puffy isn't a snake, but he has a helluva lot of ppl who know him saying he is.

Can’t deny the man for making history in the music industry still!!..
Bit** fu**puff daddy'
It just looks bad because Diddy and big started getting famous then big he got killed and diddy got rich while bad boy fell apart. That’s why people are saying Diddy got big killed, Plus it was a little suspect that 2Pac got robbed in the lobby of the recording studio in New York. Tupac blamed bad boy for setting him up which started the east west beef
Yeah, especially with Al B sure, Jr. and Christopher Williams underneath his desk and between his legs
RIP MY FRIEND AND DAUGHTERS GOD FATHER CRAIG MACK - DIGEM
Flavor In Ya Ear was pure dope

True
@@minatodroger7890 it's sad that these young people have no idea how much of an influence Craig Mack was on the success of bad boy 🤦
gene is wrong with his timeline. the interview was done in the Netherlands in 96. in 96 biggie was hotter than craig.
also, in the craig mack documentary, it was said that he was supposed to be on "warning" singing the other part of biggie's verse but he declined
And Everybody think "juicy" is what set it off for big and "ready to die" just came out the gate swinging. The only falsehood is that RTD wasn't selling. It was delayed & had huge buzz. Project Funk The World & RTD dropped like a week apart. Craig's album was the one that was tanking & didn't receive the major push because I don't think Puff knew how to market him. Big had the panache that Craig didn't. To be clear, Flavor in Your Ear, put Bad Boy on the map. Puff is the devil.
RTD sold less than 50k albums it's first week. IT wasn't selling until the Remixes came out.
Gene stay dropping the real. Salute to this brotha.
Ready to die came out after the Craig Mack song. 2 months after to be exact because I was in 7th grade and went to buy it. Gene's timeline was wrong on that one. Biggie's ready to die was an album everyone in the hood wanted. But The Super Cat with Biggie "Dolly My Baby" was the song that broke the scale in the northeast for biggie in my opinion. The remix was cool but basement parties from Brooklyn to Boston down to philly and DC
Yep, flava in ya ear remix was definitely out before Ready to Die
Go back and google the album sales. RTD first 2 months sales were basic at best compared to any album for that time period.
