The problem is clear cutting and not replanting- Most of the time it's to free up land for cattle grazing and not for the timber itself. If wood becomes a material that replaces steel and concrete, there will be a huge incentive to keep replanting. Not to mention that the way steel and concrete are manufactured today is so detrimental that it accounts for almost 10-15% of all carbon emissions globally. I think there is a place for a natural material like wood to provide a way forward.
