In my top 10. Very photogenic coaster and the helix is SICK!!!
My 11 yr old's 2nd real roller coaster experience and she loved it. Great intro coaster for a genuine experience.
Hey Taylor, many people that go to SFOG don't realize that there is an airport literally next to the park (across Interstate 20). That's why Goliath is exactly 200ft tall, even Acrophobia; those two rides are probably in the park's highest elevation points. Skyscreamer is 242ft tall and it's because it's in a lower elevation point in the park.
Overall, SFOG has a height restriction.
However, I personally think SFOG should have a second hyper coaster, maybe a launched Intamin hyper that should focus on speed and turns, not just airtime.
Nicolas Lara I recently rode Goliath and acrophobia and they were both pretty good, I got yeeted on acro because the announcer said drop about 5 times before it dropped
Definitely favorite hyper coaster I've been on. Airtime is really solid and the helix is fantastic. Also love how you can see Downtown Atlanta from the top of the ride
I would love a(n updated) ranking of B&M Hypers.
“It really is that staple attraction” *shows Georgia Scorcher* -Taylor 2017
Goliath is in the background towering over scorcher
The color scheme of this coaster actually looked really bold and popped in 2006 when it opened. Now it looks so faded and drab. I wish Six Flags was better about maintenance. It is a great ride, I never liked the park but when I lived in Atlanta it was something to do and Goliath was a bright spot.
One of only two B&M hypers without a MCBR! It doesn't get enough credit for that imo, the airtime gets stronger as the ride progresses. The helix is awesome, the hammerhead turn is fast, and it's generally a really awesome ride.
Fidel Camuze what's the other one, I can't think of it
Goliath at La Ronde.
Didn't know if the counted, it is only like 170 ft
Of course it counts. It's big and it has no inversions and airtime, and it's the same model.
Technically, Goliath at La Ronde is a mega coaster. Megas need to be 150 feet. To be a hyper, it needs to be 200 feet in either height or drop. Now just because a ride might fall short of the hyper status, the status doesn't really matter. That doesn't make it a worse ride. My favorite coaster I've ridden is 179 ft in height with a 171 ft drop.
When I rode Goliath at SFOG, I didn't realize it didn't have a MCBR. That's definitely very noteworthy.
Coming from my home park I still find this thing amazing every time. In the back I once had a black out on the helix. The helix is a grey out anywhere like you said though. I love the layout. It's definitely one of the best B&M hyper layouts. I know it's an unpopular opinion but I do personally like the color scheme for this ride. It gives stronger airtime that most of the other B&M hypers in my opinion. It currently places as my #3 of 68 rollercoasters.
I like the Colors to and I think it is the only Goliath that has an appropriate name. Because it’s massive and those colors make it look more intimidating
This is at my home park and I’ve ridden it tons of times, and that helix still makes me grey out. It’s amazing
I rode this this first season it opened in 2006. I remember the fresh-ass paint job. One of the best rides ever.
Six Flags Over Georgia is on my bucket list BIG time.
That helix makes me grey out every single time. By far the most intense hyper B&M has made. It's amazing how they pack so much airtime and intensity into one of their shortest rides.
Do you mean in duration or height?
"Not anything mind blowing"
**Gets a nine**
Estop I love Taylor's reviews, even though I don't agree with everything he says, but this here boggles the mind. That's like me giving Behemoth a 9 because it blows my mind each time, but then say 'it blew my mind, but it's layout is too similar to Nitro and Silver Star, and that didn't impress me at all."
corkscrewfoley Can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not...?
Estop Agreeing with you.
Estop Have you ridden it? It deserves a nine.
Dooble no you say that cause u haven’t ridden it. You just go off of what Taylor says cuz you don’t wanna get told off.
My favorite coaster. Lightning rod is my 2.
Pet Paradise You like this more than Lightning Rod?????
Medmac2112 that’s his opinion
Six Flags Over Georgia really is a nice and quite solid park. I look forward to revisiting. Honestly think it doesn't get enough credit. The worst thing it's faced is not really getting enough expansion over time in the coaster area. But them fixing up "Ninja" into "Blue Hawk" well I think it was a great move. Now Georgia Cyclone will be "Twisted Cyclone" and despite merit in length complaints will be good for the park. I say do a little work on Georgia Scorcher (floorless trains, paint job) and heck add a free spin (yeah call me gp I don't care I like them). Least the park doesn't demolish the classics like so many others do, or else Mindbender wouldn't still be standing, nor would Ninja. They have a good amount of flat rides as well. I'd say for Goliath in particular, not my favorite, but definitely higher end liking of a B&M hyper.
C Rizzy He isn’t saying that Mindbender should be demolished, he is saying he is glad that it isn’t getting demolished. There are a lot of parks that take out classic rides.
Convert one of the last 7 standing coasters, in the world, to a floorless? No.
I need them to GCI American scream machine.
@@DirectorBird That retracking would be great
@@DirectorBird YESS
Some ideas:
Best hyper coasters?
Best arrow coasters?
Best parking lot coasters?
Best b&ms?
Best looping coasters?(coasters focused on inversions)
he did most of those ideas
The Noob Yeah, but years ago.
Im 12 and when i rode my first roller coaster (big roller coaster not kids), goliath, I loved it, I had a chance to go last year but my foot was broken so I I couldn’t go
Forgot to mention no MCBR
that is true! You are absolutely right, that's definitely a plus in my book!
Do you prefer Diamondback or Goliath?
Coaster Studios, I think this Goliath is the only B&M hyper coaster without a mid- course brake run.
Mr. NoRide Also Goliath at La Ronde (even though it technically isn’t a hyper coaster)
Medmac yeah, that is true.
I like the color scheme... When it’s fresh painted!
Ayyy putting my home park SFOG on the map! Goliath and Mindbender are my faves. 😍
Yes, those are my 2 favorites too.
Twisted Cyclone is now better than both.
Mr. NoRide that’s an opinion
This is better than Diamondback. You didn't mention this ride doesn't have a breakrun. It goes all the way til the end without slowing down which should get it some brownie points.
I keep hearing people say they gray out on the helix but it's never happened to me haha... Guess I'm lucky
Thank you!!..
I nearly blacked out on the helix.
Its funny to say that SFOG rmc is worst then a B&M wow im shock. I actually state at the hotel beside this park and the track was fr like 20 feet away from my window n the park closed at 12 in the moring that day so i went to my hotel at around 9 to get sleep bc i was going to SFOT the next day witch is better then SFOG and i swear the people on goliath was screaming so lound to where i slept in the car like that show how intese the ride is
Love this ride when I got off wanted to ride it again
This is my home park and, bias aside, Goliath is actually one of my favorite B&M hypers. Pro tip: if you push up slightly on the clamshell during the safety check, you'll never get stapled. The staff is pretty good about letting people get some extra air.
Gemstar 382 Even bigger pro tip don’t use the clamshell at all so u can get the most airtime outside of the coaster and if u manage to live I recommend going to Kin da ka and not using any safety in their and hope for a rollback
@@VicenzoV P.S the lap bar cant come up, so you have to be real skinny to fly out.
Riding this at night is 10 times better
That goes for all coasters lol
You will not be disappointed.... I PROMISE
This ride seriously does look epic. Especially that helix
Great ride, Hideous color. Repaint that thing to look nice please!
I was surprised he didn't mention that this thing has ZERO trim brakes!!!
It does have a trim though, in the dip right after the helix.
@@triple7marc I found that out later
Goliath is the reason I go on things like i305. Such a fun ride!
he likes it then hates it then loves it
You should do a series where you talk about what order to do stuff in the park, or what to run to when the park, for people who are visiting a new park.
You know that the 175 ft drop is actually on the airtime hill after the first drop?
I love this coaster. Back row will really rip you through the hills
I prefer this to Twisted Cyclone, Ride both in the Back and Front.
This ride has been one that I always wanted to ride because of the great looking airtime and helix
I like how this ride is original and isn’t just airtime hills like some hypers
You should do your top 5 or 10
B & M hyper coasters or regular B & M coasters
I like twisted cyclone better
this is like probably the 2nd best hyper in the US in my opinion, behind mako
I prefer this to Mako
Yeah this is better than mako in my opinion
@@inlinechris ill level w u its 100% got a better layout. the only thing mako has that i wish goliath did is a speed hill but it makes up for it and then some with the helix and bunny hills towards the end. i went back to sfog recently and gave goliath another spin and when u go in knowing about the less than stellar upkeep its a lot less jarring and honestly nowadays i might prefer goliath over mako
Interested to hear your thoughts on Shambhala this summer
This is a great roller coaster in my opinion and fits SFOG very well. It’s really good for young people who may be wanting to try a larger coaster but are still scared to make the bold move. The drop isn’t crazy huge but 175 feet is a perfect drop. Lots of airtime. Smooth ride. It’s simply a fun ride that fits the park well as their “big coaster”.
That toilet bowl helix looks awesome .... Great Review as always Coaster Studios ...
This thing looked a lot better when the paint job was fresh.
raging bull is similar but you dissed on it and liked this one
The only Goliath that’s actually deserved the name Goliath
The helix is so insane
Looks like a pretty cool ride!!
Do a Wild Eagle at Dollywood review!!
Goliath vs Nitro vs Diamondback vs Intrim- my bad Intimidator which one..?
First three are all about equal for me. Intimidator is pretty mediocre and the part after the MCBR is a complete waste.
I love it. I visited six flags over Georgia for my first time last year. The Goliath was my favorite coaster there. I rode it twice. Everything else I only rowed once. I put it in the top 8 coaster I rode. I put it in the top 5 coaster I rowed not counting the coasters at my home park Six Flags Great America. I was surprised on how much airtime it had. I couldn't believe that it went over 2 or 3 other coasters heads. It was the first coaster I saw as we came in the park because like you said it goes over the parking lot entry. I got family that lives 20 min away from Six Flags Georgia so I probably go back there again.
Row row row your coaster, gently down the stream.
1:50 Should I bring my rattle detector when I ride?
Is it just me or does Taylor hate every color scheme that isn't blue-greenish? :P
it's just you
This a great Hyper Coaster
Nice review
Is it technically a hyper if the drop is only 175 ft?
Yes. It is a Hyper. So are the “Gigas.” They’re all Hypers according to every official source.
Wow cool I wanna go to six s flags and ride this Roller coaster Maybe one day tho 😮😊😍❤️😘😮👍
I have 1 question, is the helix on this more intense than the helix on nitro?
yes
I think the reasoning for Goliath helix being more intense than the one on Nitro is that it is a downward spiral as opposed to Nitro's upward spiral. So on Goliath's helix you gain speed and on Nitro you lose speed.
I finally got to ride this and honestly my mind was blown this ride was crazy fun. At least in the back row I got are on pretty much every Hill and drop and yes it was floater but it was sustained I mean I got a good 2 3 seconds on a lot of these Hills and some of it was pretty strong floater the layout was good and the Helix was awesome it was so great to feel force on a B&M again in fact that whole thing was nuts because you got some pretty good are over the hill and then get kind of thrown to the side and right into this intense helix. I did get a little bit of greying out there was also no mid-course break run. I'm not kidding when I say this but I actually had to think long and hard if I liked this some more than Twisted Colossus at the very least they rival each other in my book this was such a sick ride
I did this one in 2016 3 times in the back. This ride is my measuring stick on airtime now. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of floater AT before I rode this but it changed everything. Got stapled every time but it was still extreme AT. It even trumps some drop towers AT !!!
That the same thing that happened when I went to Goliath and I made a review of the coaster and the park itself.
I did it last year. Fun ride. I was only able to ride it once cause it was closed for most of the day I was there. Brief pop up airtime. The inversions are cool but it gets kinda slow for the last 2/3rds of the ride.
EDIT: I am going to Cedar Point in September for Steel Vengeance so...we'll see.
What does greying-out mean? (Sorry if I sound like a member of the GP :))
its when your vision goes fuzzy due to high g-force.
B&M hypers are my favorite coaster model, so I was psyched to ride this when I visited last summer. I liked that it traveled outside the park, and the airtime was good. Unfortunately, I rode it just a few days after riding Fury for the first time, and the 200-foot hypers now seem a bit ordinary, but that's not Goliath's fault. Definitely my favorite coaster at SFOG.
That is my favorite coaster
whats a greyout
when your vision goes fuzzy and for a short time you cannot see because of the intense positive G forces
Hmm... Gee Pee?
Why do you hate the color orange so much
There’s a difference between a bold and bright orange and a drab and ugly orange. This coaster is the latter because it hasn’t been painted since 2006.
I personally like the color scheme, and for some reason I really like the look of stadium style trains on Diamondback and Intimidator (I think Behemoth and Shambhala too)
It's a really fun coaster i like it a lot.
I only got on it twice on my trip. The second half I found it to have a significant rattle. Maybe I had bad rides? It wasn’t that bad and I still really like the ride
Now which Goliath is your favorite Goliath? Mine is the one at Six Flags
That’s stupid. The one at Six Flags is obviously better.
How does this classify as a hyper?
It's 200ft
It's classified as a hyper if it's height is 200 ft or it's drop is 200 ft (or both). Apollo's Chariot is 170 ft tall, but since the drop is 210, it's a hyper. Goliath's drop is under 200, but since the height is 200, it's a hyper.
Hell yeah a new review!
this coaster is my 2nd favorite Xcelerator Is My 1st
This is definitely one of the best b&m hypers
Other picks for best b&m hypers?
Can y'all tell me how u feel that first drop what the feeling is
Not better than behemoth?
Wow a hyper called Goliath that isn’t a b&m knock off
I remember the first time I rode this it was crazy haha
I think it looks good but just not great.... because of the theming, not so large height, and the colors 😬😬
He sounded a bit unenthused to be giving it a 9-rating. I'd give it an 8 overall for the floaters. Nothing special, just a solid B&M hyper.
But it is special lol
i rode this yesterday and ive only been to six flags 3 times before and that was my 4th im pretty shure XD
Why doesn’t anyone call b and m hypers mega coasters?
Because they are hyper models and Goliath is a hyper anyways because it’s 200 feet tall
Because B&M doesn’t make Mega coasters. That’s Intamin.
I see no trims on the airtime hills. Now that's a big time plus in my book. Hate the fact that trim brakes are on some airtime hills on B&M Hypers and Gigas...since I've rode both Intimidator and Fury 325 at Carowinds...makes the floater airtime a little less with the trims...I so wanna ride this anyway.
For some reason I didn't get as good airtime on Goliath as I did on other hyperspace like Mako and nitro, and I found Goliath to be only one with rattle
The rattle killed this ride for me
“ B i g A i r “
My only issue is the first drop isn't as big as the other hypers. Besides that, the overall layout is my all-time favorite of the B&M hypers. Very fun ride.
So what? It's the only B&M Hyper whose second drop is bigger than its first. It's awesome. Even if the relatively shallow drops (59º) don't necessarily give as much airtime than another B&M Hyper would (Diamondback, 74º), its borderline ejector hills, intensity, and unique layout make up for it.
You completely missed my point. If that's the only thing I have to complain about, then they did a kickass job with this ride. Don't be that person.
Right... I know... I was validating your point. Sorry for offending you.
Front or back on Goliath?
Montu review coming?
soon
goliath has always been my 2nd favorite B&M hyper coaster I like mako better, but goliath is still a pretty cool ride, I really hate the paint job though with the paint job, i totally agree with you.
The second drop is larger than the first one right??
Yes, but only by 5 feet (170, 175)
Is this better than diamondback, cause I've been on diamondback but not this
I’ve ridden Every b&m hypercoaster in america except for Apollo’s Chariot, which I’ll be riding it in around 2 Weeks. P.S. when will the next time You’ll Be at KD or BGW?
This on does look pretty good, but most B&M hypers are boring and static. The basic out and back layout where its just constant airtime hills, and a helix or two at the end is featured on almost every one. I think B&M should try another twister layout like raging bull but make it a bit shorter and not as sluggish.
I did find Raging Bull to be a bit sluggish. I felt very underwhelmed, except the night ride was pretty good. I'm not as big on the twisting hypers, but I understand that some people might prefer them. Titan was my first hyper, which I thought was good, although I still prefer the more typical hypers. Titan is a twisting hyper, not made by B&M, and it's double helix has been very forceful. I would grey out every time on it.
I agree, a night ride on raging bull is incredible. And I've always wanted to go on titan or goliath, they look fast and very forceful
Is a Behemoth review coming soon?
guess it depends on your definition of 'soon.' Within a few days? No. Within a few weeks? Yeah, I'd say so.
Did u like this better than intimidator
Caleb Reese did you mean to say intrimidator🤣
Long Island Coasters lol 😂
Also its reliability is not good. It's lift chain constantly breaks down and trains get stuck at the top of the hill
