I don't think it's so much as her cold as it is she's grown older and has been hurt from losing her husband so unexpectedly. Life has been hard for Cassie from the jump; moreso since Jake was murdered. I think it makes her a little more reserved and protective of herself and her heart.
Oh I agree with you on that, but now she is supposed to have moved on, she agreed to marry him after all. She is supposed to be oh so in love with Sam, but there's something missing! So frustrating, because they have so much chemistry, and the writers don't know how to handle it!

I am new to the whole Good Witch movies/series scene. I an hooked. I have binge watched all of the original 7 movies, and Seasons 1-5 more than once. The original Good Witch movie, was cool when Cassie walked down the stairs and right into Jake's heart. Cassie was not far behind---love at first sight. My favorite scenes were when Jake came over and they ended up having dinner in. Cassie was stunning that night. The rest is history!
Completely agree. She was one of those ladies for me that was beautiful no matter what. Then I saw her in The Good Witch series, and was shocked with all the work she's had done. Her top lip no longer works properly, and her forehead has no expression. It's a real shame that she's pandered to Hollywood's beauty "standards".

Watched Episode 9 again and there were so many funny moments in this. I think Catherine and James have a great friendship. Catherine said James is not the "touchy-feely" type, but with two people in love, approaching marriage, there should be more touching, hugging, and real kisses. With the chemistry between James and Catherine, why aren't the writers insisting on this? They should use this magic to the utmost. That last scene with them kissing is almost painful to watch. Trying to kiss without touching! I love these two together and I love Good Witch, but what is up with this? Hoping for Season 5!

I've recently just got into the series and having been binge watching it for the past week. I'm currently up to the middle of season 3. I had been wondering briefly about why the characters haven't been physically expressing more affection, but I don't think it's really necessary for the characters to do so, as that's not who there characters are. One of the great parts about the chemistry of the relationship between Cassie and Sam is that they are built upon this great friendship (two single parents each with a child) where they can easily connect and express their problems to each other. It's a solid and deep bond between them. It's very different from light "crush" romantic relationship between Cassie and Jake. That relationship was built on pretty much nothing more than love at first sight, and honestly didn't seem as solid. The character of Jake fell into an "over-protective" type that started to talk less and just basically give a kiss and hug and run. The lacking in actual conversation about a issue outside out just saying "I love you, I trust you, It'll all work out" etc from Jake was getting repetitive and boring. Jake was like this whirlwind fling. On the flip side, this long steady road approach with Sam to actually build between the two adults is quite nice and refreshing to see on TV where the main lead couple finds there own natural balance to be together in their own time, not just forced together just because to make fans happy. The "tease" is what makes the road enjoyable and interesting to watch.

I love the Hallmark Channels approach to movies, I know they are in love and dont really need to see them constantly touching each other or kissing. If you need to see that, rent a dirty movie. I am not religious or uptight, I just like to watch shows that pander to voyourism. The earlier NCIS was also a good show that focused on character rather than private issues. 😊💕

I can't help but wonder though if she really gets along with James Denton, see how quickly she changes subject when the interviewer asks how it is to work with him, she talks about Bailee right away. Because other TV couples usually promote their show together, if you go to Hallmarks twitter/facebook accounts, you can see for exemple Josie Biset and Jack Wagner promote their movies together, she and James did it during the first season, now it's weird how they are never available at the same time. Wonder if maybe Mrs Denton is against it?! I don't know I find this strange, plus James is always "almost" in the background in the promo photos, like he is just there, it was different with Chris Potter, they usually held each other, like a normal couple, in love. Not to mention that the displays of affection in the series are really scarce! Even if there was a slight improvement this season. I don't know, they don't seem as invested in their roles as they were in their previous roles! Cassie really comes across as cold in the series, she was lovely when she was with Jake, with Sam, they are like best buds or something, I'm having (still) a hard time believing they are in love! Anyway just my feelings about these past two seasons, I have been a bit disappointed and from what I read on social media, I'm not the only one. Hope they can find a more natural way of playing their roles if there's a season 5, because I REALLY LOVE THEM TOGETHER!

I will add that James does not do social media, and he likes to keep his life quiet and private, whereas Catherine is pretty open :-) Some of the other fans and I have noticed he seems to have lost weight in the last year and are concerned he may have some health issues going on. He looks unwell. I have no doubt that CB and JD get along really well, especially from what I've seen in the behind the scenes clips and interviews they have done. Season 4 has been a wash for me. The show got new writers, and something is seriously lacking. I can't put my finger on it, but it's there. Except for the season opener, it's been lackluster at best. I almost quit watching because of the way they dragged out the Nick and Grace feud (Grace is my least favorite character...she comes across as very selfish and immature at times). And I felt so bad for Cassie when they went to the lakehouse and everyone abandoned her. I know Hallmark is ultra conservative, which is why they keep the PDA low, but this season has been very disappointing. No passionate kisses, no hugs, NOTHING! And the storylines have been very inconsistent between S3 and S4. In S3, Cassie was hurt when Sam's sister told her he never wanted to remarry. Of course, he proposes to her in the S3 finale. Now, in S4, she acts like she's not in a hurry to get married, and they basically went most of this season with her not wanting to set a date. Wha???? Doesn't make sense! They really need to work on consistency from season to season. I love the show and have been a fan since the first movie. Hopefully it will improve. I miss the feel of S1 and S2.

I know Hallmark is ultraconservative, that's why I don't watch their movies except for Good Witch, because it was different, the movies were more daring, and Cassie was intriguing and sweet, the PDA were more natural in the movies, she used to reach out to Jake, kiss him, hold him, but in the series they changed her too much, she's not as appealing and caring as she used to be, the relationship was better written, it was sweet and magical, it's so different with Sam, thats a shame because I like her more with James Denton. Absolutely agree about the movies. They have certainly toned down the "witchy" vibes. Her wardrobe was more intriguing and daring vs now. I think Hallmark was afraid of losing Christian viewers who don't like the mysticism and new-age stuff (which to me made Cassie far more interesting!). Hallmark caters to the ultra conservative, Christian crowd, and I feel like Good Witch has lost some of its charm and mystery when it was changed to a tv series.
