For all 27 EU countries the trade with the other members of the EU 27 is larger than the trade with UK. The integrated of the common market is more important than a trade deal with the UK. For the EU any arrangement with the UK compromising the common market would be worse than no deal.
So the EU is not making it hard it just defends itself.

You can also see that looking at the map in the video which showed the influence of a no deal on the economy of different regions.
For Ireland the situation is more complicated, because a lot of trade of Ireland with EU-mainland is transported through the UK.

They can change their routes, but it takes time. Every country does most trade with it's nearest neighbors. Maybe the UK now forgot they are an Island and pretty much dependent on their direct neighbors. The alternatives aren't very lucrative at all within a few years.

You didn't count in the weather. Often the route between Ireland and France is terrorized by really bad weather at sea and because of that boats cannot go. Really bad weather in that area for which the coasts of Northern Spain and Eastern France are also famous. That harms the continuity. Furthermore there is the multi-track channel tunnel between Calais and Dover which can transport a lot of goods as well.
Yes, they are preparing for routes around British waters, but the weather is a big problem and you cannot increase the volume of a harbor within 2-3 years. The second Maasvlakte in Rotterdam took decades to complete. The EU now decided on a direct power line between the EU and Ireland. Also part of the no-deal Brexit preparations.

Beautiful comment on changes to voter franchise. About it coming in the vote after next. That's genius, fair, difficult to argue against.

A Remain result in a second referendum means we're back where we started? No it does not. That's a sleight of hand in the logic!

Sorry Prof, turn out in the 2017 election was up but not very much - 68.7% compared to 66.1%
in 2015. Turnout levels in the UK are usually in the 60s whereas
across most of W Europe turnouts in the mid 70s to low 80s are
    commonplace.
We need a change to our electoral system - that's a key thing you missed.
