Falling off of Carl's videos for a couple of months and coming back now, it's amazing how troll levels have somehow changed completely yet have stayed exactly the same.
Before watching this, I immediately Re-watched Thwomp Suc, and the way he reuses trolls, and remixes others, is like someone trying to remake Thwomp Suc from memory. It's great.
was gonna say that bearware was being super benevolent with all these cute trolls, and then it was just softlock after softlock lmao. bearwares still got it
The "speedrun" montage just being nothing but deaths to that music is just perfect lol. Also in that room with the vine that couldnt be reached I wonder if you could get up there by spinning off the thwomp that shows up later. Could even trap it in with the other hidden block.
@@GolfinhoVoador No, I was just jokingly impersonating them with the purpose of making a joke, I apologize if it was misleading The editor is called Dave, and he usually posts comments under Carl's videos, he also posts videos in his own channel (IIRC his username is "Dave the lizard")
Lol I just realized we included the clear check of Geeksmas from CP2, not the upload from the start... oops. If people want I can still upload that one too at the end of another vid.
I was surprised at all the softlocks until I realized that they were training you for running through the entire level without checkpoints. I'm curious how it was uploaded, though. That key seems unobtainable from the other checkpoints due to the one-way at the very beginning. I can only assume that there were time-specific dev routes.
Definitely more dev routes with the red coin entity shenanigans. There were probably out-of-frame ways to obtain a red coin which would also trigger the opening of the exit with the entity limit change. The key ironically wasn't the key - picking up the red coin in the key door room was. So if there's a dev way of obtaining one of the other red coins you'd reach the same end result.
@@Jukantos I'm pretty sure it's just because he reloaded the ending, rather than having to have collected that red coin; it's pretty easy to make a contraption that triggers a p switch after a certain number of loads; the dev route probably involves reloading the room using the pipes
I think that's the reason I thought it was kind of meh. It punishes you for exploring so why would you want to engage with its trolls if they're just going to kill or softlock you (often in kind of boring ways too)?
The beauty of the troll at 7:37 is that in SMW style you can see the semisolid extending behind the one-way gate, so we feel even dumber when we fall for it.
That laugh after he went into the first key door I can smell the tears all the way to my city 😂💔 Man I salute you for such endurance good fucking job Carl 👌😂
Finally caught your stream live for the first time last night. It was a lot of fun and people really love you a lot after being continuously scammed by predictions ❤
Bearware always impresses me with how much detail he gives his negative space. I hope to design levels with that much attention to my own negative space
I'm trying so hard to stay calm here...but @43:25 like Right after I stopped laughing about the fake key door: Iwas yelling at my screen like "Carl what are you doing... CARL WHAT ARE YOU DOING??? CARL STOP BEING PAVLOVIAN AND LOOK AT WHAT YOUR DOING!!!!" *12 seconds later* Carl: WHAT AM I DOING??? Perfect. 10/10 would recommend
Idea I just had for a troll level: It would be a level with contraptions which would normally be considered anti softlock mechanisms but instead of dying at the end you go back to your last check point. While in these areas it triggers a mechanism which makes the main like more difficult/longer to complete such that using the checkpoint locks that contraption in place. It would be even better if the way it changed the main course was similar to the antisoftlock i.e. if the softlock involved riding wigglers, it would add a wiggler that could kill you in the main path. Then it would end with a CP0 where the player has to take a key all the way through the main path at the difficulty of thier own making.
Bearware and SenatorBus: This level should only be played by Geek because it's such garbage. Carl: Hey, I'd like to play your level! *cue coffin dance music*
I was thinking, "I wonder if you get True Ending if you take the key from the beginning of the level all the way to the end of the level" I guess, in a way, I was right.
Carl being confused at the start after killing the second Thomp is just too on brand. How he didn't think "Don't kill the Thomp" until doing it by accident I'll never understand. Carl just...not staying in the box to avoid the feather is great. The confusion over what to do. Great. Eigh, too many real soft locks.
