I agree to Alex' introduction. I compared my Reformer 112 (with Celestion Neo 250 Copperback) to my Hughes & Kettner Statesman 412 (4× V30). And the Reformer sounded big, full and very rich. I didn't miss three additional speakers.
The Redback definitely had the widest spread of frequencies and if you’re wanting a 112 that does 412 better than 412’s, that’s what you want. I’d like to hear how it handles a mini-valve head (less than 30w), driven to power tube saturation.
Thanks guys for the speaker comparison and all the work you do…….but if you are trying to do the ‘rock thing’ please please please please throw the fuzz boxes AWAY!!! Valves rule! Plus it would be good to hear everything referenced to a greenback.
Great video as always! The G12 T75 sounds good. I would like to know how it will sound paired with a Creamback M 65 in a uprising. I also like the Redback very much.
I have a few cabs with the various stock drivers, some rewired for different impedance, and then I have others with drivers of different types and impedances, and several different type amplifiers, next I am going to get a couple big switchers, Amp Switcher, and Speaker Switcher, to find the preferred combination with each unit, and match that with the various effects and drive positions of the array for the most favorable output. Hopefully I will get a camera holder or something, and y'all can see if that works. 🎸
No so fast my friend! Have you played a Scumback H75? I love the creambacks but there’s something about the upper end on the scumbacks that are perfection to my ears. I had a redback for a while and it’s only really good if it can be cranked. The Waza 12 that came with my katana artist is also an excellent speaker. Basically a 100w greenback
Alex; @ around 17 minutes into this video, did I see you moving a green-Tolexed Barefaced AMP head out of the way, on the left side of the screen??? Is THIS what your vidz have been teasing us with...😮😊?
The G12T-75 and the G12-65 don't sound the same, but they definitely share a pedigree, evolving from the G12M/H Greenback. For many of us the G12-65 is the Master of Puppets speaker. Many of those early metal bands of the '80s used it, since at some point it was (together with some siblings) the stock speaker in Marshall cabs. The G12T-75 is one the evolutions, but those original ones don't sound like the current production. While the G12-65 are recreations of the older ones, hence including them in the Heritage series. The G12T-75 is part of the Classic series, including revoicings, like it also happens to the G12M Greenback. Many of us love the G12T-75 combined with other speakers, typically V30, in my case G12M Greenback. They add dimension and body to the overall sound, filling many gaps. However, when used alone, they tend to get a bit lost in the mix, since they aren't so much "in your face" as others. Would any Barefaced cab change that perception? It would be really interesting to see!
@@BarefacedAudio Yes, exactly. I try to use speaker names as Celestion writes them, so there would be: - G12-65 (original one). - G12-65 Heritage series (manufactured as close to the old G12-65 as possible). - G12M-65 Creamback (or M Creamback). - G12T-75 (original one). - G12T-75 Classic series (revoiced compared to the original).
I love this. Do it to all the speakers! Have you ever gotten your hands on any Lynchbacks? I'm only 8 minutes through, just had to say that this is bigly a good video topic.
We haven't tried any as they're Legacy, so we're not able to order them at trade price. From what information Google provides, it seems like they were designed to be a hot-rodded version of the Greenback?
@@RossFlow very good according to the owners who use them! From a speaker design standpoint it’s logical that they would because in the lows they’re like a properly designed ported cab, whilst the AVD output improves the audibility in the mids and highs so you can really scoop out the mids without it turning to blurry mush.
I’m trying to find a good stage cab to primarily run backwards. Many venues we play don’t allow forward facing cabs. I also use a Mesa mark VII. Can we get a video comparing the 112 side by side one facing backwards with a real high gain amp? I’ve got a few open back 112’s on my list but this cab has my interest the most. I just can’t really find any real world experience from gigging musicians outside chappers and Dave Simpson. 🫤 If you guys are interested in me featuring it on my channel and doing some vids with lots of gain vs a couple high end 2x12’s, my splawn 412, high gain, etc hit me up. The gigging guys with lunchbox amps need a good full sounding and hard hitting cab that’s easy to grab and go.
@@FastRedPonyCar there’s loads of feedback from gigging musicians across the internet, just not on UA-cam (because much of what you see* on UA-cam is paid content *according to the algorithms). But we can make that video, we’ll add it to the list!

surprised how different they sounded distorted compared to how close they sounded clean. great vid.

i've been really into neo creamback, could do those, given its weight it would also make for a comically light cab
For me the celestion alnico cream 90w ENDED the search its perfect for rock and cleans !

Do these cabs sound good with chugs and high wattage?
