In terms of gameplay AX is by far the best than A9 or A8, and I play or played all 3 for a significant amount of time. The thing that makes AX so much better mainly due to the archetypes, not only do these archetypes allow for much diverse car list than any other Asphalt game even though it has around 60ish cars, all cars behave significantly different than each other, almost as if you are playing a different kind of game in every archetype. In A9 there is only one way to play the game, sure some cars are slightly different than each other in a8 or a9, but regardless of what you choose, you are forced to drive a certain way, forced to take a certain path, and this becomes a flaw in the MP system, all cars essentially the same, especially if you are using a king, there may be more variety in the lower ranks but like mentioned before, you must play the same way to succeed. In AX, archetypes allows for a variety of ways to go fast, every archetype has its strengths and weaknesses, and every single archetype goes fast in a certain way, different from each other. A buggy for instance ultizes ramps and air time to the fullest since it can gain an insane amount of airspeed, allowing for different routes and shortcuts sometimes exclusive to that one archetype, on the other hand, you can use a truck to go all in throughout the entire map, constantly using maximum boost and refilling it with knockdowns and obstacles. Depending on the map, one archetype is better than the other, creating a better balance since one car does not dominate all of the tracks and allows diversity of gameplay and cars to be used. As a result, AX MP is much more interesting and fun, you are not always following the exact path of your opponent and you must use to most of your car's strengths. Since people are on different paths, knockdowns are less frequent, also due to some archetypes being harder to knock down. AX had some big issues during it's life, but the gameplay design was the best we are probably going to ever see from GL. Such a shame it died so quickly because of horrible business practices
There's an glitch on Asphalt Xtreme's rain that happens on the PC version, that is shown on the video, so the effect looks worse than on mobile, and makes the game look a little bit off. And in comparison with the Asphalt 9 rain effect it makes the game look worse.

Asphalt Xtreme is far superior, as for example here: 1:38 the cars in AX don't go blue or any other color with those stupid unrealistic special effects, besides, Asphalt Xtreme is the best game when it comes to, not graphics, but the vehicle attachment to the track, in any other Aslpalt game, the car feels ridiculous, it's like its inserted onto the map itself, there's no realistic track attraction, friction or anything, it just feels like the car is floating there like 20-years-ago-games.

A9 looks like Overdrive w/ better car models + widescreen support but otherwise don't get me wrong i'd personally enjoy both game (AX in particular) for what they're are

Asphalt 9- graphic Asphalt Xtreme- everything that A9 lacks. Dont get me wrong but i prefer ax probably because of all of the crazy tracks, wide wariety of cars and their arhetypes ( for example buggies are fast and nimble and on the other side we have slow trucks that are hard to wreck.)
