@@futasupastah I don't know, I'm no ballet expert. It just always seems to me like a very jerky thing. I never quite understood why a fairy would move like this. Maybe it's because it's a toy fairy - I don't quite recall if that's stated in the plot. A wind-up toy might move like this. Or maybe a wooden toy or doll just come to life, as in Coppelia. I admire that this dancer can make it look graceful while still being jerky! 😀
It does look awkward to me. I’ve watched every major valet company in the world do this variation. The way that Balanchine has choreographed it looks simplistic and awkward. The movements don’t look pure or precise. It’s still beautiful. But to me, it is less inspiring.
LOVELY!!!!! Just LOVELY!!!!!!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the dance of the Sugarplum Fairy due to the fact that it is almost all done on point, and I am ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED with point!!!!!!!!!! I cannot dance a single step, and know very little about this BEAUTIFUL art, but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE point work!!!!!!!!!!! Julie Gill, Glasgow, Scotland.
the english translation of what you wrote says that you called it "konpeito dance", i think thats wonderful 💫💫 i love seeing how the words of specific themes are translated, when equivalents dont really exist between two languages
I'm in awe of any dancer who can make this awkward variation look graceful and natural.
Why is it awkward?

Эта хореография намного больше подходит к музыке, чем традиционная.
А мне кажется, что она немного резковата в движениях! Но точенная!

Не очень красивая вариация. А девочка - молодец!
I hate to say this, but… The Royal Ballet’s choreography is 100,000 times better than this. …Although I can really appreciate Balanchine!
Жалкое подобие балета. Для колхоза, коим есть территория, оккупированная у индейцев сгодится
