Shared a chair lift with KJ Boreal in 98 or 99 on Halloween (which is my bday). Star strucked AF!!! . He asked me how I knew it was him and I said red jacket/black pants & THE STUDDED BELT!. He laughed and said since it’s your bday - come follow me down the hill. NEVER FORGET THAT!!! He F’n DOMINATED those days. RESPECT ✊
It’s cool to meet someone under no pretense and later they become someone you look up to and not only are they insanely dope but also just a nice person. I worked at a climbing gym for 10+ years and Kevin was just a guy who’d come in every so often with his wife nicole and they were notably chill, just super nice people with the cutest baby that would hang out while they climbed. After discovering snowboarding later in life i had a holy shit moment when I put the two together. Hella cool chill guy.
there is nothing more i enjoy than being apart of this community from the ground up. its been weird times but i will be back giving money to this patreon. Thank you for everything everyone involved does
Dude, these are awesome! Im thoroughly enjoying each and every one of these podcasts. Its crazy how relatable things are to these greats. In the end were all human. I really hope that the industry keeps all these guys well taken care of one way or another til the very end because they all deserve it. 💯
This was most Def an early Christmas gift. KJ is really humble and down to earth. I lived in Bend and I had lunch with KJ. I had looked up to him when I was younger, and now I was sitting at a table having an adult beverage with one of my idols. Good conversation and good company.
So stoked my boy just turned me on to the show. I am so stoked to see some of the boys from the grom days! Also KJ, never a dick! Just good dude who I personally am so happy he is doing well! Thanks for the show and wishing all you well!
@thebombhole great interview with one of the legends of snowboarding. As a Veteran so many similarities with that transition. Identity , purpose and sense of belonging. Thanks for sharing KJ!! #keeptruckN👊
1:16:38 Spinning off your toes vs heels!! I remember seeing more of that - frontside spins off the toes but man can't do any more than a 180 off the toes. Is the technique the same basically?? because spinning off your heels feels a little sketch and sloppy.
Kevin's take on Palmer is straight up. Vert ramps, Snowboard, Ski's, Motocross at Sand Pits in South Lake, Bikes, dude was even a gnarly slalom water skier. Palm could possibly be the most talented athlete on the planet. Great interview here.
Yet another epic episode, thanks guys! Maybe you could get Tara Dakides into the booth. Would also be another kick-ass episode, I believe. Or Ian Walsh as big wave surfer and passionate freeride snowboarder, a pretty cool dude with probably a lot of cool stories to tell. Anyways, all the best for 2022, looking forward to hearing from you two again. Keep the stoke alive 😉🤙
Such a rad episode ! So glad yall had kj on. for me personally this is the most impactful episode yet and he somehow pointed out all the things i needed to remember to stay stoked on snowboarding and to keep riding for myself !👊🏼 thank you kevin ! And thank you chris and buds merry Christmas boys
Met him in AK a couple times around 2013 .. he was a lil green around the gills.... So happy to see ya doin better KJ. Awesome epi. Merry Xmas from the beach in Kauai to everyone in internet shredland.
The kookiest thing I ever saw was a pair of Timberland style boots with the BOA. I did like the Vans BOA circa 2007, though. Upper and lower laces, adjust on the fly. I rocked those until they were like a wet sponge.
I'll nvr forget hiking a mini-mailbox w Dakidas and KJ up on a late-late 2000-01 season mammoth day ...I failed to nose press back 1 out, but KJ was stoked for me...I was 22, but KJ's stoke would last a life time, thanks man...KJ would later film Dakidas taking a squat off trail LOLZ!!! LVandPss J
@@307beez Jer and Jp were little bitches back then. Railboarding and jumps were the only cool thing to them. They had snowboarding under their finger. Powder and riding lines were the furthest thing from what they did. They were talented and created an image that lasted years. Made them lots of money too.

KJ was my idol growing up. Met him back when the x games were in crested butte and he was super cool and appreciative. Glad he’s doing good.

Are you kidding me it doesn’t snow in Tahoe anymore?!?!? I still say best snow maybe I’m biased
Soloing is kind of a personal thing, love that
jibber Jeremy and jp were the ones who said we dont do that
How do you know that ?

calling slcjj and jp little bitches is pretty heavy.
Speaking of spinning off your toes. Could you get Travis Parker on the show !
I had the Lamar 153 with the sunset on it.. I think it was the John Cardiel! Yeah, they kind of sucked ha ha.
Wear the climbing harness for the next one!
Dude your life is my life. I live in calaveras worked my ass off my entire life I relate to you sooooo much
being from Austria and hearing KJ talk about the early days, I wonder what KJ thinks about Thommy Brunner.

@The Bomb Hole Oh my God have I got the same life in common with Kevin, or is it just an age thing.....?
I used to get so confused by Kevin Jones and the two Jeremy Jones'.
