Wow. Okay, so, this ex the first flourish I ever tried to learn several months ago...and the last. Until now. After trying to learn it from 3 or 4 other tutorials, I gave up, thinking I should probably start with something simpler, but I put the cards down for a while, promising myself I'd come back to it. Well, IIIIIIIII'M BAAAAAAACK!!!😂
It must be because of your video, maybe something different in the way you described each step, or something. Whatever the reason, I've got a LOT of practicing to do, as I'm very methodical with it here at first. I realizing that in order to speed up my cardistry skills, I'll have to do it the same way as learning something new on guitar; to speed up, start slow. Thanks, man!!

To be honest, there are a lot of hateful comments here but out of all the tutorial videos I have watched for this flourish this one has helped me the most.

Thanks! I watched 4 different videos and couldnt understand the move untill I got into yours. 3 hours of practice, and now I can do the Sybil cut with slow speed without dropping the cards!

Jay, you are awesome man. I am somewhat new to magic and your videos do help me alot. Thanks. It's funny though how this is easier to me than the charlier cut. I guess my hands are too small. You're awesome and deserve so many more subs and likes.

I've been watching your videos, and I think they're good as a starting point. Although, at this moment I think it might be better to flip them upside-down. With a false-cut so complicated as this one, I honestly think it would be better to do it from a point-of-view position.

  • @letype7398

Well, it's a nice little cut, but it's not a sybil cut.
it's a variation on "five face of sybil" wich is not "sybil" either. Chris Kenner should be upset by the number of people teaching a "sybil cut" that's not the right one.
the name are close, but the cut dont look at all the same. The Original "sybil cut" the right one end with a Kalush cut (from Bill Kalush).
Otherwise the video is well done !

Can any one tell me what I might be doing wrong? I can get pretty far into the cut, but I can't seem to get my thumb and ring finger around to reach for that middle packet, the cards I have between my left index and right thumb are blocking me :( I have small hands but I hear that shouldn't be an issue. I have tried in an elevated mechanics and a relaxed one, but the issue is that packet. Tried several tutorials and no one seems to be giving extra tips for that move...

uzoma nwosu I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't do the research behind this flourish to give you that answer. If you have information regarding the invention of this flourish and perhaps a page for the man/woman behind it let me know for sure!

I seen many videos teaching this cut and no one has attributed it to anyone specifically. Thanks to your question, I've looked it up and a simple google searched lead to learning that the Sybil Cut was originally performed by Chris Kenner. Via Wikipedia.

Greg Jay It's in his book "Totally Out of Control" from Kaufman and Greenberg press. It's a worthwhile purchase if you don't have it already. Some of the material is on Theory 11. But there are some gems that you could pull out on your magic friends if they aren't well read. :-)
