I think its really important that you do. We think dogs only know certain commands but if they are with you a lot, and inside dog, I think they might know the entire language. 😂 Ours stresses and cries if we leave, but, I began saying i.e. we will be back in 3 hours ok! We will be back. I hold up 3 fingers and say in 3 hours. Or however time it will be. I say " look after house while we are out and I will be back ok! - 3 hours" repeat it all a few times. At first it was just 1 hour or 2 and build up. The dog looks at you the whole time as if they get it. I think they know our language because among other times, today the dog went out side to show me where the treat ball was (after I had asked where the ball was) then just looked at it expecting me to go and get it, so I said "No, you pick up the ball in your mouth and bring it inside to me" The dog listened then picked up the ball, brought it almost inside, then tossed the ball at me but it didnt go inside the door 😂 so I repeated it " Pick up the ball ...... etc" Second time the dog brought it inside and tossed it at my legs 😂 Then I put treats in the ball for the dog. The dog just goes for a nap now when I say we are going out and will be back in whatever hours. Its as if its a relief for the dog to have some quiet time at last for some hours. 😅 Dogs are a lot of fun to have around.
My father was always a dog person, in his 90's someone dumped a cat at our house, my dad took him in. He became Kitty Gato... and would hang out with him all day outside doing yard work and gardening. When my father passed away the cat would go into his room and look for my dad, look and run out. One day he finally came in jumped on the bed sniffed around saw he was not there and never went into the room again. The cat is still with us but never to close to anyone of us. My mom was very sad mourning my father's death and would cry for hours upon hours as I sat with her. My nephew gifted her a puppy and she had never been a pet person at all, she finally stopped crying and accepted my father's death and now says my dad sent her the puppy to make her feel better she named the puppy after herself and loves it more than anything in the world. Amazing how they both got pets in their 80's and 90's.
Never, ever say no. Cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, horses, whatever not only do they enrich your life, they make your life whole. Nothing beats having a constructive conversation with my dog. There is nothing better than dog kisses. As for the welcome home, not even family greet you like that. Never ever say no. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Animals teach us so much about love, sacrifice, acceptance, patience, and everything we should have always remembered from childhood. They love us totally, completely and without hesitation.
I found a stray kitten hiding under a parked car. My Mum said, you can feed him then put him back on the street. When he died aged 16 he was so spoilt and so loved my Mum missed him every day for the rest of her life.
I told my daughter and her stepdad if they got a second dog I would never ever take care of him it would be there responsibility. Of course now I cannot live without him and I cry thinking he’s old and I’m gonna be devastated when his time comes! Btw I bought a lowered bed because my dogs back hurts when he jumps and I can’t lift him so I bought a low platform bed so he can sleep with me every night ❤
So lovely. Animals are the love and light givers. We must always realize how precious they are. They make our lives lighter and remind us of what is essential. Fabulous video. A gift Thanks
When I would be getting ready to leave the house on a Saturday or Sunday for a few hours, my pup would pout on my bed. When I would go to say goodbye and tell him I would only be a few hours, he would wrap his paws around my wrist to try and keep me from leaving. When I came home he had knocked all the pillows of the bed and umade it. Cracked me up. I still miss him 4 years later. He made it to 15. I am now ready to get another pup.😎

Growing up, my Dad would tell our shepherd Chrissy not to let anyone in but if he did, not to let them leave until he got home. Chrissy was big but so gentle and loving, and we lived in a rural area so never locked our doors. Well, a workmate of my fathers came over, walked in and called but no one answered. Chrissy came out and looked at him, scaring the crap out of the guy. Chrissy went and laid down in front of the door and the guy couldn’t get out, so he sat for a bit, hoping the dog would go elsewhere. It was nearly 3 hours later before we got home. My mom's husband went full blown rage monster, complete with mass amounts of swearing and F bombs for 2 - 3 weeks post adoption, when my mom and i adopted our dog Fiona almost 6 years ago. He now thinks the sun rises and sets on my pitbull boxer mix's furry white ass. Then again, so do my mom, my husband, and I.
My Dad always said no, but when my sister's guinea pig escaped, he spent every afternoon for months belly down trying to lure it out from the shrub it moved into. With treats. When it finally took food from him, he was super excited. 😂😂 He ended up never catching it because he enjoyed hanging out with it by the shrub.
There is a stray cat who comes over at night, around the same time. Tonight I had to say "I'm sorry. I don't have any food for you". That cat opened his mouth and let out a load of expletives and let me know exactly what he thought. They do understand but they're not always tolerant. He went off to the next house he visits to complain about me.
Yes i knoxw several people who tell there furbabies they will only be an hour ot two and where they are going and what time they willbe back roughly depending on traffic thank you
Dad: Don't you dare let that dog in this house! Also Dad After a trip to the groomer: Don't you dare let that dog out of this house! someone will steal him!
My dad was always against having pets when I was growing up. Then when I went to college my girlfriend and I adopted the sweetest Malamute/Pyrenees mix and my dad fell in love and what do you know, decided he wanted to adopt a dog for himself.
Love these, thank you! My dad always hated cats & said he was allergic to them. When he sneezed he would say “there must be a cat outside.” I like to think he would of ended up loving cats.
Did anyone else ever talk to their dog/cat when leaving to go to the shops and explain that "I'll only be an hour" as if the pet could read the time 😮
Worse, I ask my cat if he wants anything while I am out. He gives me a list. I should stop asking him.😆

Guys they funny, lol
❤❤❤
There is a stray cat who comes over at night, around the same time. Tonight I had to say "I'm sorry. I don't have any food for you". That cat opened his mouth and let out a load of expletives and let me know exactly what he thought. They do understand but they're not always tolerant. He went off to the next house he visits to complain about me.
I'm so glad you included a tortoise.
I never tell my 2 dogs to watch the house while I’m gone!? I never let them on my bed!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes i knoxw several people who tell there furbabies they will only be an hour ot two and where they are going and what time they willbe back roughly depending on traffic thank you
Yeah, I have a budgie , he saved my life , I love my Clyde, ,
Dad: Don't you dare let that dog in this house!
Also Dad After a trip to the groomer: Don't you dare let that dog out of this house! someone will steal him!
These dads always say no because they know as soon as they see it...😍🤩😍🤪
Men don't want hassle or trauma our lives BUT, if it has to be, we will care for and protect it.
