Another brilliantly produced video brother! Your use of the Panfish Magnet kit to target fish was perfectly executed! Combined with your ultralight setup it is a panfish slaying unit! Great catches, those Bluegill and Crappie had beautiful colors to them! Yes sir!!! Those Crappie couldn't get enough of those baits! That was so much fun to watch Chris! Those Red Breasted Sunfish are excellent fighters for their size! Thanks for sharing!
Great topic for a panfish fishing video. Excellent job of explaining and demonstrating by starting out with a Slab Bluegill at 3:50. That was a very beautiful Crappie at 5:11. That was a great-looking spot by that fallen tree! I really enjoyed going along on the Crappie excursion with you. Thanks Chris!
Slaying them bluegills and crappie on the Panfish Magnets. Great job showing how the hooks are longer on the Panfish Magnet jig heads. Them panfish really fight hard on the ultra light. It's so much fun! Tight lines Chris!
That’s awesome! I see a lot of folks that love to fish them under a float. Time-tested method of fishing, for sure. Do you have a particular go-to color? What type of fish do you target?
Yes sir those kits are definitely something to have in the arsenal, I keep one of those and the trout magnet kit in my bag at all times no matter the species I’m targeting. Man they was giving that little rod a work out lol.. I’m thinking of targeting some pan fish this summer myself plus I been kicking around the idea of targeting panfish on the fly rod. Always great presentation and day on the creek brother!
Yep, I seen these panfish kits at Walmart's too. A nice little well put together kits they are. Also they fit perfectly well right in your fishing backpack. Nicely well done with the catching and releasing the fish back in the water.
Thank you so much for watching, Shawn! Yes.. the kits are fantastic and the perfect size. I always keep the containers and refill them with Trout Magnet grubs, jig heads, and split shot sinkers.
I caught my two PBs (LM Bass and Catfish) on a Panfish Magnet rig. Unfortunately, they increased the price on the kit, and I discovered the joys of the beetle spin with a curly tail grub. Never looked back.
@@pistolcreek My neighborhood ponds are always muddy, less than a foot visibility and they both work great, I also always tip them with a crappie nibble.
Love this video and your others that I’m just now discovering! I’m someone coming back to fishing after an extended break and used to only want to catch bass…but am now loving targeting panfish. I have one of these kits on the way and will give a whirl this weekend with the 6-year old who is also now hooked on catching sunfish. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for watching! Welcome to the fun side of fishing.😄 Panfish are SO much fun. Easy to catch in a variety of ways and usually much more accessible than trophy bass. I’ll take catching a dozen scrappy little bluegill over one 3lb bass all day long.😁 The real ingredient that made me fall in love with this type of fishing is using ultralight spinning gear. It’s a game changer as it provides much more sensitivity and enjoyment. Doesn’t require an expensive setup, but there is lots to choose from out there. An ultralight rod and some 2lb line is just flat out fun. Good luck to you and I love hearing that you are passing the joy of fishing on to your son. He’ll carry the memories with him all his life. Stay safe and hope you catch a bunch of slab panfish!🙏🐟
@@pistolcreek picked up a cheap Lew’s ultralight combo from Dick’s today along with a Panfish Magnet kit…hit a local park pond on my lunch hour and got 3 green sunfish. Loving the ultralight gear, but definitely gonna need to get a little better casting out those tiny 1/64 jig heads! 😀
@@Goodfelladh That’s awesome! Light line is the key. Try either 2lb test Trout SOS or 2lb Test Berkley Vanish. Both make casting much better. If it’s windy, stick the trout magnet on a 1/32oz, or add a small split shot, or even a small float to help. You will catch everything that swims on the Panfish Magnet.
@@pistolcreek thought I’d check back in to report that me and the 6 year old took the Panfish Magnet kit and caught so many bluegill and green sunfish we stopped counting. Nothing of any great size but you’re right, on the ultralight setup it doesn’t matter - just fun to catch with the 2lb test. Great times for all - I think he’s now hooked and I’ll have a fishing buddy going forward (now just need to teach him to unhook the fish…). Thanks again!
Good eye! You are spot on. I just got that rod a few days ago from my pal, Mike. This was the first trip I made with it. Really enjoying it so far and plan to do a lot more fishing with it soon.
I have seen those. Actually bought a pack in the Monkey Milk color. Just gotta figure out a way to make myself fish something besides a trout or crappie magnet.😂 I’m hooked on these lures. Hard to switch over, when the fish keep biting them. Are the itty bitty good for bluegill? I know folks like them for crappie.
Thank you! I just tie the panfish magnet directly to my main line using a Palomar knot. Thin diameter line is key to getting good casting distance. Something in either 2 or 4lb is great. I have been using the Trout SOS line lately and really like it. You can get over 300 yards for under $6. Great for panfishing.
Thank you so much! The boat is a Pond Prowler 8 from Bass Pro Shops. I have a few videos up on this channel going over the boat setup if you are interested. Appreciate you watching.
Thank you so much for watching! I don’t think I was using a sinker here, but I sometimes will on windy days or in a bit of current. A split shot works great. More often, I just use a heavier jig head like a 1/32oz.
The rod used in this video is an Ace Hawk Double L Ultralight. It’s a pretty fun rod. If you are looking to pick up a nice ultralight rod for under $100, I highly recommend the Daiwa Presso 2-piece, The Bass Pro Shops Micro Lite, The TCB Rod from Leland’s Lures, or the Magic L from Handing Fishing. Any of these are great rods for panfish action. I usually like the 6’ or 5’6 size rods, myself. Good luck and hope you catch a bunch of nice panfish!
@@pistolcreek I have a few of them spooled with 2lb mono. I don't have a lot of time on the water using them yet but I hope to change that this year. I really like the folding handle. Be sure to get some Trout Magnet EyeHole Jigs!! Under Crappie Magnet Eye Hole, then select size to 1/64. I ordered mine last night!
Brother… you know I had to. I ordered some last week and am planning to try them out very soon!

My favorite lure. Catches everything from sunfish to bass and catfish. Its my go to when nothing else is working.
