A perfect hammer charge not doing any damage hurts my soul. Literally the only use for green skin gobbo wolf riders I can think of is shattering broken units a job done by _literally_ anything with a speed above fast (for a dwarf)
Holy shit that's definitely the first time across hundreds of videos I've ever seen anyone say anything to indicate playing Ya Boi Raid for more than whatever must be mandated in the boilerplate contract. They should give you more money.
I've never really used cavalry as something to break enemy melee infantry crowds, especially not ones with charge defense. Cavalry imo is meant to be used to go around the back and get rid of ranged infantry units before flank or rear charging the rest of the melee. Doing this with mournfang riders has turned what would normally be defeats into victories.
I think the main problem with the cavalery is that they send hitted units to sky, they fly to back line and they have to deal with fresh units afterwards.
Ok so I played a skarsnick campaign (to be fair it was on like, normal difficulty so idk if it'd work on higher difficulties) but a squig eith night goblin rider doomstack under Skarsnick is amazing. I've seen them kill dragons in seconds it's like an army of land piranhas.
just started recently with warhammer, so i am quite new to dommstacks and such.... did someone tried out a Luminarium Doom Stack? Before i played, a youtuber i followed said in his imperial playtrhough they go just "Pew" and thats it. tested it, and was surprised, how well they can focus down commander and single units. i think their only draw backs would be the short range, no firering arc and low ammo capacity...
Thing is with raid for me, personally I don't like them because of all of there advertisements which is fair I just get bored of them same adds. But I can say that their models are great and that's all I want to see just getting everyone maxed
Maybe we need to put worst against the worst. As we've already seen, one grail reliquae can beat a casket of souls, but what about 1 unit of aspiring champions beating 12 grail reliquaes? Or goblin wolf riders?
I'm actually planning something like that further down the release date for Baldur's Gate 3, love the game already. "4 Halfling Thieves" doomstack, something like that.
What about doing the best doomstacks based on a fixed budget instead of 20 units? Id could be a nice doomstack related content while waiting for wh3 to come out
I think the fundamental problem with cavalry in Warhammer is that its Warhammer. At the end of the day Dragon princes are just dudes on horses. Ain't not shot that's gonna hit harder than a giant fucking rock monster.
I dont really understand your (lack of) logic around cavalry. You say cavalry is bad then show two consecutive clips of cavalry charging into an infantry front, removing 25% of the targets health and taking none in return. Like... was your commentary meant to be sarcasm?
I legitimately burst out laughing when TWO whole stacks of wolf riders charged that infantry formation and did absolutely zero damage. Like, holy shit, that's bad.
The Casket of Souls is supposed to have an option for Casket Guard, of which you could only have two, but they're basically on the same level as base Necrotects, so the Casket should still be able to beat a weapon crew barring some truly terrible rolls. The Casket not dying was supposed to be pretty important, since it had a 1/3 chance to wreck everything around it when it died, if I remember right.
@@LordVader1094 because the way that total war play out will make alot of them not fun and sometime frustrating. Just look at rampage, people hate that mechanic.
@@knell18897 funnily enough; Rampage was a mechanic that on tabletop was something the player had much more control over. The way it qorks on the game is different and it is worse

6:08 It's their weapon strength. Only 16 models with the same weapon strength as shielded Chosen, which have 80 models, plus they don't have much AP. They are like Trolls but with half the weapon strength and no AP.
Why not just get regular necromancers with carts? Which, by the way, is way more overpowered than it looks. They have 10 attack and 8 damage. Even still a full stack of necros can summon 240 stacks of zombies from start to end of battle. Archers are irrelevant, since they will run out of ammo fast. Infantry fight until they get exhausted and die. Heroes one shot each zombie they hit, that still take them like 20 strikes to defeat a single zombie horde. Every time you summon a new horde, all the 10 remaining zombies get healed by 80 hp.
Well no matter how good or bad, you can take solace in the fact that you DID entertain. And please, keep doing it. Ideas are there to be explored, even the bad ones. The worst ones even get a price, ever heard of the Darwin Award? ;)
Ah the grail relique stack. The only stack that was so boring that it forced legend to break his own rule and use magic. So damn boring I wonder how many of you reading this noticed I spelled it wrong.
I think cav should have had shockwave damage and hit multiple units on the first 5 seconds of charge, they end up doing good damage but they don't act like cav and just punch through infantry formations. Seriously, two hundred plus kilo's of charging armoured animal being stopped by three ranks of meat puppets is crazy.
Yeh, Aspiring Champions have a model count issue. They deal less damage per hit than Forsaken and there's 5 times as many Forsaken in a unit as there are Champions. They'd need to have like 120 WS to be worth using as a combat unit.
Aspiring champion doomstack might be worth looking into again with archaons faction Will take 100 plus turns to get the researches done but might be worth a look
Here's how I got cavalry to work, because my Repanse de Lyonesse campaign had me in a tissy until I figured out what to do. Cavalry sucks... as fighters. They're just crowd control, fast and bulky units designed to shove other not so bulky units to where you want them. Full cavalry stacks aren't as effective as having regular infantry intertwined with them. They don't have to be good, use peasant mobs if you like, all they have to do is hold the enemy. Then, have the cavalry swoop in from the sides and/or back. Once the cavalry is done charging, pull them back, rinse and repeat until an army gives up and set up again. Archers love this because cavalry has this tendency to just compact units together into dense lines, allowing bowmen to not need to aim quite so hard.
While I do love my Goblin Wolf Riders, White Lions and Caskets of Souls I cannot deny that they are among the worst highly useful units to make doom stacks with. Caskets of Souls have incredibly powerful chaff clearing but they need protection. Goblin Wolf Riders and White Lions are support units. If you get them onto most ranged units, and keep other units from coming to help them then they'll have payed for themselves not through the damage they did but through the damage they've prevented the enemy from doing.
I tried making an Aspiring Champions stack once my chaos campaign was rolling since I really liked their premise. They can barely take down half a stack of empire units lmao
They suffer from regular infantry Weapon Strength while having the unit size of Monstrous Infantry, Melee stats and all just aren't enough; they don't even have an impressive mass for how GIRTHY they look. Fun Fact: Despite all the bling they,ve got, AspChamps do NOT have AoE attacks AND they skip Leg Day with that pitiful 32 Speed... such lame, much cringe
The Aspiring Champion doomstack might need a revisit now that Archaons tech tree gives them every effect under the sun.
