Yeah the people that just blindly hate modern smg4 don't realise that blind hate usually kills the show earlier. Personally I believe both eras are goated in their own different ways, but both eras are far from perfect.

Classic Mario was blissfully unaware of the chaos he was causing and actually tried to fix things if he realized his behavior was hurting his friends. Modern Mario actively seeks out trouble and tries to make people mad. And Meggy went from a smart but caring and emotionally complex character to a nag and a Mary Sue, and now she's just a punching bag who gets hurt or killed in almost every episode she's in for basically no reason.
The underdevelopment of Tari is bizarre to me. They have the perfect blueprint to her character development from meta runner already. Start off weak and scared, but slowly start getting more brave and fierce. It’s disappointing because thats what I feel made the meta runner show so great.
They really just created Tari in SMG4 to promote Meta Runner, but after Western Spaghetti, she's just there or missing at all. She needs an arc to add on to her or at least an episode.
It wasn’t even for copyright issues. SMG4 had been going on for years (along with other gmod UA-camrs such as AlexSpider) without even a single warning from Nintendo, they probably did it so that they could sell official merch of Meggy, along with the other character redesigns

Like for example: Human Meggy acts like Leafy (both are cinical and sometimes bossy) Tari acts like Bubble (both are sensible kind) Melony acts like Rocky (both are cutefull useless) And Saiko acts like Fanny (both tend to hate everyone or are always angry) And the SMG4 OCs where introduced between 2017 and 2018 (While cool inkling got murdered and revived into a "Leafy coded" human), wich in those years BFB started (and didnt split yet)
I really hope Smg4 sees these videos and tries to understand how people feel. Being a UA-camr is hard work but he should take time for his characters and story. I do believe tari and Meggy deserve more character development and spotlight, and smg4 that character should be back to caring about his friends instead of memes and views. I agree with the points in this video
I literally hate them now, SMG4 is no different than quality drop in Family Guy, since the Glitch team using it as a idea dump and not an actual channel.

Meggy's redesign changed everything on Smg4. Then redesigned Bob, Fishy Boopkins, Tari, SMG3, SMG4, and Saiko...pretty much Mario, Luigi and some of other characters hasn't gotten a redesign...yet.
My biggest problem is old characters like Bob, boopkins, swag, chris or even Shroomy being severely underused nowadays. They don’t fill any main roles in episodes or even SIDE roles. And if they do appear, they barely serve any real purpose being there.
The change from that to Supermemeguardian4 was straight up dumb. In my opinion it hits the nail on a large bulletin board that his character was going to be focused on memes

The problem with SMG4 is that whenever they introduce new characters, they either shelve or kill off certain ones to make room before just laying them to waste once more. Examples: 1.) They introduce Axol and kill off Desti. 2.) They introduce the Ant-Cast, but later just turned them into minor/background characters. 3.) They introduce SMG1 and SMG2 and kill off Axol, just to have SMG1 and SMG2 turned into background characters and later forgotten and aren't even used again. 4.) Introduce SMG0 and Niles. While Niles's death made sense, killing off SMG0 was a low blow since he had a chance of surviving, only to be killed. 5.) After the lawsuit arc, they literally abandoned Peach, who turns into a monster. The problem with SMG4 now is that they have a tendency to only focus on the more "popular characters" such as Mario, SMG4 (who turned into a content creator jerk who refuses to acknowledge his errors), SMG3, and Meggy (who literally shames and sees the wrong in other people when hypocritically doing bad things at the same time and attacks anyone who questions it) while just throwing away the new potential characters they have.
I've grown up with SMG4 for years, as early as who let the chomp out and the 1st freddy's spaghettiria. I've loved the series and all the characters and its up their with the list of one of my biggest series hyperfixations. I've loved the many episodes of the series. Even through the many changes everyone hated on like human meggy, meggy having an actual normal voice, SMG4 having lore, SMG4 no longer looking like a bootleg mario recolor, and other redesigns i still loved the series and didn't really have problems with it (other than boopkins 2022 redesign looking kinda weird.) That being said though I am having problems with the more recent SMG4 episodes, but not because of the writing actually, my problem is what's happened with certain characters. Some characters I personally have no problem with like Mario, Luigi, Karen, SMG3, Bob, or Fishy boopkins but other characters I have quite a bit of issues with. SMG4 (the character): I already talked about it this in one of your other videos so i'll cut the crap and make it short, he's become a guy desperately obsessed with views even after the perfectionist arc, I feel like he should be back to the voice of reason (compared to mario that is) but is a youtuber who loves memes kinda like how he was in videos before the perfectionist arc Meggy: She doesn't really do much, in videos after the new castle was finally built its like they forgot about her whole thing of wanting to be a coach to toughen people up. I have no problem with the leggy stuff and its silly how meggy just becomes a goomba when she's scared but that being said meggy doesn't even feel tough anymore, remember when meggy was not afraid to put up a fight, like in the cursed tape episode where meggy was not afraid to take down phillip considering she knows the stuff they've been through before, what happened to that? it feels like the only time meggy has an important role anymore is in the arc episodes and movies. Shroomy: Remember when shroomy was known as the boy scout who could craft weapons? what happened to that guy? cuz now in videos he only exists just to be kenny from south park. Swag & Chris: I just want them to be used slightly more, just slightly because i don't want them to be the SMG4 equivalent of SML's brooklyn T. Guy where they use them in every single episode like they rely on only them. Melony and Saiko: Very rarely ever used anymore, which is sad to see because they were major characters. One ting that bothers me is that in the puzzlevision livestream countdown, melony and saiko appear in the clips despite the fact that they never appeared ANYWHERE in the puzzlevision takeover arc, not even in the puzzlevision movie so why even bother putting them in the countdown stream if they weren't even in those episodes. At this rate I feel like they should eventually have melony die so she can finally be with axol again who is most likely not returning since he friggin' died Bowser: They only ever bring him in every once in a blue moon and even then he's just used as a background character with 5 seconds of screentime. I loved bowser and his dumbass antics. Waluigi and Wario: almost never used anymore, they could make potential episode villains really like they used to (example: the big bad bully episode) Tari: Not really used that much which is a shame because I love tari, she's one of my favorite characters in the whole series and is one of the only remaining leftover pieces of meta runner (RIP Meta Runner) Clench was also such a strange idea to me but i can't really complain much about him considering he isn't used much since he is part of tari, and tari isn't used that much either. The anti cast: once again almost never used, I never really cared much for whimpu but I love Rob, remember when he had more major roles and his own dedicated episode (the corn trip) which was focused on rob and bob (which is another thing i like abou the series when there are episodes focused on the dynamics of other characters like karen and swag in the mcdonalds ice cream machine episode). Then of course we have belle not only is it sad she's almost never used since she is the only other remaining leftover piece of meta runner, but her model is in desperate need of an upgrade, it needs to be upgraded to have a revamped look like with tari and also because belle's ragdoll is harder to use than Tari's modern model is because Belle still has the same old model since 2020, plus i feel like she could have a role in the (rare) tari centered episodes. Kaizo: I almost forgot to include him in this list of rarely used characters, which should really say something. On a more positive note I love when they use fanmodels like scout meggy or revamped college meggy or leggy. they give credit, it allows for fans model edits to be noticed (as mentioned by MediExcalibur2012, one of the people who works on SMG4) and it opened my eyes to the steam workshop world of SMG4 fanmade model edits where you can find lots of cool edits of the smg4 character models like emo meggy, cat tari, medic tari, halloween versions of meggy, bob, and boopkins, and more I didn't mean to write out an entire fucking college essay in this one comment section but I deeply care about the SMG4 series and really wanted to voice my concerns with the series. I might delete this comment eventually and just made an entire commentary video instead and also thanking you for giving me the motivation and inspiration to make the video but we'll see how things turn out.
Am I the only one who feels like Belle had a lot of potential while Tari was going through her development arc? (Western Spaghetti) What if she ALSO found out about the simulation and encouraged Tari to act!? Such wasted potential…

The SMG4 videos really need a consistent villain. Back in the day they had Bowser, SMG3, Dr Pootis, even Swag to some extent. Ever since then, SMG4 is afraid to make a real badguy to play off of for comedy. The day SMG4 lost his mustache was the day our society crumbled...
I didn’t even mind the redesigns to an extent because the recolors are just an old thing, but to take more Nintendo elements out of their vids is just horrible, the real reason I stopped watching entirely was because I hated WOTFI 2023, and all I can say is I will never watch them ever again
I’m so glad that many people are now realize the decline in quality when it comes to characters. The cast now just gets sidelined after they have an arc with them. Think about it. When was the last time Rob was relevant?
I'd say that Smg4 didn't fix Meggy but made her worse. Ever since the It's Gotta Be Perfect Movie. Meggys character has been on a great downfall. I'd say she's slowly becoming the new Peach. She's literally a bitch to Mario if he does so much as breathe, She gets triggered at the most littlest things, and she just gets pissed when something doesn't go her way. I don't know why her character was changed to be such a bratty and short tempered person. She was a better character back then.
The last time she actually even had a role was in Western Spaghetti and that’s like the only time she was an interesting and likeable character in the modern era. She’s quite literally just there right after that and stands in the background eating up screen time while also having nothing to do with the video. And honestly that was kind of it. I thought they did fix her a little bit but she still has her issues and doesn’t really have much to do. Tari and Saiko are just boring and have nothing to make the videos more interesting, as per usual. And I just hate the characterization of SMG4 and 3 now because SMG4 is a self centered prick that is just a self insert and only cares for himself. He was a more likeable character because he actually wasn’t just a self insert. Now, that’s all he is and he just does the most insane shit and doesn’t care that much that he destroyed Peach’s castle and turned her into a monster. As for SMG3, he’s just a femboy now or something idk. He’s just lame
The thing about shows now is that they go from having random stuff happening that makes it enjoyable, to having a big book’s worth of lore that just kills it off.
Ngl I hated how they removed the supermario 64 models and stopped using it in videos and hates using pngs, I get its for the quality but still its something I liked abt SMG4 and it had a charm to it.
I miss the old times, when Princess Peach was present, where bowser was funny while playing a role there. Its such a shame, that Peach was thrown away, and turned into a spider creature, and forgotten about. I just loved the silly humor, and i dont really like the sudden ARC's that appear.
The problem is the current writers. Back then, sure, the characters had their moments, but they were still consistent. But when the new writers, those being the Zamnation writers, came onto the series during the Puzzlevision arc, it lead to characters getting heavily flanderized. SMG4 used to be a well written protagonist, to a attention seeking man child, Tari went from a shy, but strong willed woman, to a shriveling mess who can barely think for herself. Most of the cast is just there, including Mario, who just became a side character, even though he’s one of the main protagonists. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
As much as I love Mario, I really miss when he actually thought about what he did and tried to fix his issues instead of it just being ‘haha I made you mad now it’s everyone’s problem’ like it is now. I also strongly dislike SMG3’s character now and I kinda wish he never redeemed himself tbh
When will luke and kevin...just...Let go of the smg4 series...And move on to glitch productions. When he will finally realize smg4 is not working anymore.
Honestly, at this point i'd say the only genuinely Good characters in smg4 are bob, chris ,and swag, And that's because they're the only characters who haven't been completely flanderized.
My honest opinion aside Mario and maybe Luigi. Bob is my favorite character to date, he was a striaght up genius, his arc of a rap artist turned scam artist (oh how life imitates art) selling his friends out was just pure 10/10 for me

Smg4 went from being a guy on the internet who made shitposts while also having to deal with Mario and others shenanigans (Mostly Mario) whenever he went out to touch grass to being a meme obssesed fanatic who made memes his entire personality. Now even back then smg4 still got worried whenever he saw he ain't making enough views or when he saw the channel declining, but he always tried to find ways to make his videos and channel grow more, but the thing is that now his character would believe it's the end of the world when it happens. It's not just a simple "WHAT?!?" And immediately tries to see what he can do, it's a "NO I'M NOT PERFECT IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!". And also before it felt like smg4 was a guy doing youtube simply to make money and pay rent to keep living at the castle

Meggy was honestly what started the downfall. In a universe where every character had wacky flaws. Mario being Stupid, Toad being Toad, Bowser being obessed with Peach, Peach being careless, etc. Then here comes a Ms. Perfect to the point it's boring to watch Doesn't help that SMG4 started simping for the female characters and putting them in pedestal with the "boys are dumb"
Luigi had it the worst. He used to be a real character, now he’s just a “gay Luigi” joke every time he shows up. Not even glorified, he literally has nothing else to him.
Honestly SMG4 has been on a downward spiral, ever since It's gotta be perfect. New SMG4 isn't awful or anything, it's just not even close to the old days. I also heard two things... I heard that people say Glitch is better these days and that SMG4 became "brainrot". First of all, no the fuck is not. I don't like either Digital Circus or Murder Drones, besides like an episode or two. Second of all, there's many arguments you could make that SMG4 isn't brainrot nowadays. Matter of fact, I would go as far as to say it's always been brainrot, but it used to be in a good kind of way. When you think about it, SMG4 in the old days was stupid memes, stupid jokes that was random nonsense at times, which was still hilarious btw. Now, I feel like the team is trying too hard to focus on a plot. Idk if that's the best way to explain it though.
Rip Saiko and Tari they have both been underused a lot and don’t even get me started on team smg3, the only two that’s still used a bit is smg3 and jubbers. They now focus on smg4 smg3, mario and that’s parasitically all they literally appear in most of the recent episodes

Ever since the redesigns in 2022, everything has just gone downhill. I mean Puzzlevision was good but SMG4 is basically a different person to his original Mario-recolour self. Also I really miss Bowser and Toad, and completely killing off Peach was a crap decision. Also bring back the old Mario-recolours like X and FM!
For me the 3 main problems are: 1. The Nintendo purge: While smg4 is fair use, Nintendo doesn’t care and if they wanted they could get Luke pretty much executed. Luke probably knows this, and it’s why old characters like bowser or toad disappeared, which is fine, but it has removed a lot of soul from smg4 2. Ass writing: it’s just bad, Meggy gets tortured for a month strait and then goes: “I wIsH I CoUlD haVe BeeN yOUr FriEnd” It’s just one example, but it represents the lack of awareness in the writing, like they didn’t re-read the script before moving forward. Aswell now when they introduce a new character I often go “wow he’s annoying, I hope he doesn’t stick around” and the arcs are just badly written ever since genesis, when they fumbled the axol and melony ship, combined with the wasted potential; saiko is screaming for some character development and they just keep developing meggy. 3. The family-friendlyness: Now while smg4 never had that much swearing, it’s still crazy how much they’ve toned it down. And it’s probably not Luke or Kevin’s fault but UA-cam; because at the end of the day, they have to eat. And I’m not saying change is bad, if smg4 hadn’t changed we’d all be complaining about it, but it could have been changed differently. (Btw smg4 was brain rot for zoomers just the gen alpha humor could be written better)

Unfortunately we’ve hit a dilemma here, Luke/Whoever is the head of SMG4, has been putting a lack of personality into their characters and has been changing personalities and been reusing characters and not giving other characters a chance in the spotlight. yes, im talking about the characters SMG4 and Meggy, the most overused characters in the show. Meggy feels like a Mario now, a character basically in every single episode now. When will we EVER get an episode where SMG4, Mario, and Meggy aren’t present. Im sure There could be a lot of ideas, like We have characters like, Luigi, SMG3 (also kinda overused), Bob (cringe), Boopkins (also kinda cringe), Tari, Melony, Saiko, Swag, Chris, Karen, + More. surely we can do something with these characters… right? Unfortunately SMG4 isn’t exactly listening to his fans, is he? Ever since the episode, The Day My Arm Went Psycho, there has been a drastic increase in drama in the SMG4 community… Hopefully all of this will resolve maybe… and possibly get better?

Every show has seasons that are worse than others, those seasons either become the death of the show, or the fans give constructive criticism and the show better again sometimes. Problem is most people don't seem to know what CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is. And the show has to see and listen to the constructive criticism

I feel that SMG4 also kinda underuses the Classic Characters like Peach and Bowser. They need to be more involved again instead of being quick gags. Who knows maybe Peach could get character development. It sucks that even after the T Pose Virus where she saves everyone, now she was just left to rot and no one cared about her. Even people forgot about her existence. Which sucks because she’s literally a Classic SMG4 Character. Bowser barely ever shows up either!
They completely removed Peach from the series and that kinda pisses me off, she could’ve been a straight woman character like Meggy sort of used to be. Or heck, give her a mini arc where after her castle is destroyed she slowly learns to appreciate the crew more and maybe even joins them more on adventures.
I used to love smg4. The addition of Meggy was where I stopped getting interested, didnt like the mary sue trope, and then the last thing I watched was the Waluigi arc (I know, old) and I personally think the ending of it could've been handled way better, but it was disappointing, plus all the removal of characters and the new ones were getting plus the redesigns, wasn't really my thing. SMG4 went from a fun shtpost world to a world which characters that aren't enjoyable and look way different now from then whether from copyright, just having a redesign to have one, or whatever the reason. This is why I'd always go to 2015 - 2017 smg4 videos if I really wanted to watch them.
I didn’t mind the modern SMG4 (even as someone who is a long time fan), but recently since the advent of Mr puzzles and the “it’s gotta be perfect” arc, it just feels like crap, I personally am not one to let nostalgia blind me and if I don’t like it anymore I just move on or just watch the old stuff later, but Mr puzzles, “it’s gotta be perfect” arc, and the lawsuit arc just kinda suck now, so does everything after it
It’s been almost a year now since I quit watching SMG4 and characters were meh to not great, Karen being the only exception of newer characters I enjoyed by the time I was done, Nintendo characters not appearing almost at all anymore has also not helped and now the fandom is getting taken over by some weird TV man
i really miss the good old days when SuperMarioGlitchy4 (short for SMG4) has the 64 characters style... man.. these were the times.. oh... and btw.. about me saying SuperMarioGlitchy4, it actually says that on the late 2000s to early 2010's, there's proof on the internet that actually says that on the wayback machine.

Smg4 is uh… eh ig… i really hate how Meggy is always appearing in the newer episodes because she’s annoying af, never liked her. We need bowser back, toad back and a lot of old ones back. (Especially the colours Mario’s) some of the characters that pop up a lot in the newest are OK at best. I don’t really got a problem with by example: Mario, Luigi (pops up a little bit..) smg3 (he does pop up in a lot of newer episodes, probably to much but he’s fine ig). I kind of like the “remastered64” episodes, because they try to show back some old characters and the old time. But what do we expect… 12+ years of YT for smg4. Smg4 is used to be my personal favorite when he was making those old blooper videos or when Mario gets in random games and all,me and my friends were watching him a lot, but now he has just became a brain rot in my opinion, i don't like how almost all of them just changed, in fact I hate it, and I stopped watching SMG4, maybe if they get some kind of redemption and get back to old videos, maybe I would watch him again but I doubt that this will ever happend

I spent an entire year falling in love with these characters and then the episode Mario is the last man on earth happened and ruined the series for me. The gang except for Mario are so unlikable and selfish now. Meggy is bossy and won’t help unless she gets something out of it. Tari basically became a knockoff Greta thumberg in one episode, and everyone constantly proves that they will do anything to hurt Mario
Mario used to be a jerk, and a idiot, kind of like an are aggressive homer Simpson. The comedy in early smg4, at least for me, was when mario was an a** to everyone, then he does something stupid that gives him his comeuppance. But now, he's just stupid all the time, and it's not funny when he gets a ton of the slapstick done to him, because he doesn't deserve it, like he used to in the old videos. It's kinda like squidword was in SpongeBob back in the 2010s. They forget the reason why him getting hurt was funny, was because he was a jerk and deserved it.

Like Saiko & Melony, they’ve never really played an important role in recent SMG4 episodes, it would be better if they actually USED other characters in main episodes, and new duos and trios, because the SMG3-SMG4-Mario thing is pretty annoying now. These guys have potential, but it’s like the same character and character duo-trios are hogging the spotlight. And some characters just need better writing like SMG4. The "A Night’s at SMG4" made it seem like SMG4 is ignoring everything he did. But that’s my take on how SMG4 can somewhat improve.

I lost interest in the SMG4 channel for a reason... It was the episode with SMG4 was sued by Funky Kong or something like that. At the end, SMG4 and other characters such like Bob, Fishy Boopkins or Meggy get new model...only for sell merchandise products. I was like, ok, they are no longer passionate, just only want people money.
SMG3 had character development for years and we all just want SMG4 and SMG3 to be bros now. Since he was born he always had a story arc for.. almost 13 years now and its just not going anywhere. They get an episode for character development once in a while but after that we are just back to how it was exactly before the episode. Theres just nothing really changing.
IMO SMG3 and Meggy are overused characters, no like really tho Meggy has had some major character development like her becoming a human and losing Desti to now her being a goomba working with a tv thats series also should have ended a while back. I haven't watched smg4 since like summer of 2023 because i've been getting tired of them using the same goddamn characters every episode, i feel like the humor's also gotten worse with them reusing the same jokes, the episodes also got extremely uninteresting with them mostly being youtube related and not having much variety, i also feel like the arcs are useless now because after they end all that development that they built up just disappears and the entire puzzlevision arc was extremely uninteresting atleast compared to the cosmology arcs, now i don't hate smg4, i have neutral feelings towards the series, but i just wish smg4 could give his other characters more spotlight, because the episodes could have more variety if the side characters played a big role

Classic Mario was blissfully unaware of the chaos he was causing and actually tried to fix things if he realized his behavior was hurting his friends. Modern Mario actively seeks out trouble and tries to make people mad.
And Meggy went from a smart but caring and emotionally complex character to a nag and a Mary Sue, and now she's just a punching bag who gets hurt or killed in almost every episode she's in for basically no reason.

The underdevelopment of Tari is bizarre to me. They have the perfect blueprint to her character development from meta runner already. Start off weak and scared, but slowly start getting more brave and fierce. It’s disappointing because thats what I feel made the meta runner show so great.

Tari acts like Bubble (both are sensible kind)
Melony acts like Rocky (both are cutefull useless)

And the SMG4 OCs where introduced between 2017 and 2018 (While cool inkling got murdered and revived into a "Leafy coded" human), wich in those years BFB started (and didnt split yet)

I really hope Smg4 sees these videos and tries to understand how people feel. Being a UA-camr is hard work but he should take time for his characters and story. I do believe tari and Meggy deserve more character development and spotlight, and smg4 that character should be back to caring about his friends instead of memes and views. Meggy's redesign changed everything on Smg4.
Then redesigned Bob, Fishy Boopkins, Tari, SMG3, SMG4, and Saiko...pretty much Mario, Luigi and some of other characters hasn't gotten a redesign...yet.
My biggest problem is old characters like Bob, boopkins, swag, chris or even Shroomy being severely underused nowadays. They don’t fill any main roles in episodes or even SIDE roles. And if they do appear, they barely serve any real purpose being there.

Yeah them rewriting the whole lore and canon of the SMG4 universe was a big no no for me in the end, that’s why I hated the Genesis Arc
The problem with SMG4 is that whenever they introduce new characters, they either shelve or kill off certain ones to make room before just laying them to waste once more.
Examples:
1.) They introduce Axol and kill off Desti.
2.) They introduce the Ant-Cast, but later just turned them into minor/background characters.
3.) They introduce SMG1 and SMG2 and kill off Axol, just to have SMG1 and SMG2 turned into background characters and later forgotten and aren't even used again.
4.) Introduce SMG0 and Niles. While Niles's death made sense, killing off SMG0 was a low blow since he had a chance of surviving, only to be killed.
5.) After the lawsuit arc, they literally abandoned Peach, who turns into a monster.
The problem with SMG4 now is that they have a tendency to only focus on the more "popular characters" such as Mario, SMG4 (who turned into a content creator jerk who refuses to acknowledge his errors), SMG3, and Meggy (who literally shames and sees the wrong in other people when hypocritically doing bad things at the same time and attacks anyone who questions it) while just throwing away the new potential characters they have.
Ngl I don't like how they got rid of the "SMG4:" bit at the beginning of the title. Makes it feel less like SMG4

Honestly,SMG4 peaked when he made Mario in Real Life.
I've grown up with SMG4 for years, as early as who let the chomp out and the 1st freddy's spaghettiria. I've loved the series and all the characters and its up their with the list of one of my biggest series hyperfixations. I've loved the many episodes of the series. Even through the many changes everyone hated on like human meggy, meggy having an actual normal voice, SMG4 having lore, SMG4 no longer looking like a bootleg mario recolor, and other redesigns i still loved the series and didn't really have problems with it (other than boopkins 2022 redesign looking kinda weird.)
That being said though I am having problems with the more recent SMG4 episodes, but not because of the writing actually, my problem is what's happened with certain characters.
Some characters I personally have no problem with like Mario, Luigi, Karen, SMG3, Bob, or Fishy boopkins but other characters I have quite a bit of issues with.
SMG4 (the character): I already talked about it this in one of your other videos so i'll cut the crap and make it short, he's become a guy desperately obsessed with views even after the perfectionist arc, I feel like he should be back to the voice of reason (compared to mario that is) but is a youtuber who loves memes kinda like how he was in videos before the perfectionist arc
Meggy: She doesn't really do much, in videos after the new castle was finally built its like they forgot about her whole thing of wanting to be a coach to toughen people up. I have no problem with the leggy stuff and its silly how meggy just becomes a goomba when she's scared but that being said meggy doesn't even feel tough anymore, remember when meggy was not afraid to put up a fight, like in the cursed tape episode where meggy was not afraid to take down phillip considering she knows the stuff they've been through before, what happened to that? it feels like the only time meggy has an important role anymore is in the arc episodes and movies.
Shroomy: Remember when shroomy was known as the boy scout who could craft weapons? what happened to that guy? cuz now in videos he only exists just to be kenny from south park.
Swag & Chris: I just want them to be used slightly more, just slightly because i don't want them to be the SMG4 equivalent of SML's brooklyn T. Guy where they use them in every single episode like they rely on only them.
Melony and Saiko: Very rarely ever used anymore, which is sad to see because they were major characters. One ting that bothers me is that in the puzzlevision livestream countdown, melony and saiko appear in the clips despite the fact that they never appeared ANYWHERE in the puzzlevision takeover arc, not even in the puzzlevision movie so why even bother putting them in the countdown stream if they weren't even in those episodes. At this rate I feel like they should eventually have melony die so she can finally be with axol again who is most likely not returning since he friggin' died
Bowser: They only ever bring him in every once in a blue moon and even then he's just used as a background character with 5 seconds of screentime. I loved bowser and his dumbass antics.
Waluigi and Wario: almost never used anymore, they could make potential episode villains really like they used to (example: the big bad bully episode)
Tari: Not really used that much which is a shame because I love tari, she's one of my favorite characters in the whole series and is one of the only remaining leftover pieces of meta runner (RIP Meta Runner) Clench was also such a strange idea to me but i can't really complain much about him considering he isn't used much since he is part of tari, and tari isn't used that much either.
The anti cast: once again almost never used, I never really cared much for whimpu but I love Rob, remember when he had more major roles and his own dedicated episode (the corn trip) which was focused on rob and bob (which is another thing i like abou the series when there are episodes focused on the dynamics of other characters like karen and swag in the mcdonalds ice cream machine episode). Then of course we have belle not only is it sad she's almost never used since she is the only other remaining leftover piece of meta runner, but her model is in desperate need of an upgrade, it needs to be upgraded to have a revamped look like with tari and also because belle's ragdoll is harder to use than Tari's modern model is because Belle still has the same old model since 2020, plus i feel like she could have a role in the (rare) tari centered episodes.
Kaizo: I almost forgot to include him in this list of rarely used characters, which should really say something.
On a more positive note I love when they use fanmodels like scout meggy or revamped college meggy or leggy. they give credit, it allows for fans model edits to be noticed (as mentioned by MediExcalibur2012, one of the people who works on SMG4) and it opened my eyes to the steam workshop world of SMG4 fanmade model edits where you can find lots of cool edits of the smg4 character models like emo meggy, cat tari, medic tari, halloween versions of meggy, bob, and boopkins, and more
I didn't mean to write out an entire fucking college essay in this one comment section but I deeply care about the SMG4 series and really wanted to voice my concerns with the series. I might delete this comment eventually and just made an entire commentary video instead and also thanking you for giving me the motivation and inspiration to make the video but we'll see how things turn out.

The last time she actually even had a role was in Western Spaghetti and that’s like the only time she was an interesting and likeable character in the modern era. She’s quite literally just there right after that and stands in the background eating up screen time while also having nothing to do with the video. And honestly that was kind of it. I thought they did fix her a little bit but she still has her issues and doesn’t really have much to do. Tari and Saiko are just boring and have nothing to make the videos more interesting, as per usual. And I just hate the characterization of SMG4 and 3 now because SMG4 is a self centered prick that is just a self insert and only cares for himself. He was a more likeable character because he actually wasn’t just a self insert. The thing about shows now is that they go from having random stuff happening that makes it enjoyable, to having a big book’s worth of lore that just kills it off.
Ngl I hated how they removed the supermario 64 models and stopped using it in videos and hates using pngs, I get its for the quality but still its something I liked abt SMG4 and it had a charm to it.
I miss the old times, when Princess Peach was present, where bowser was funny while playing a role there. Its such a shame, that Peach was thrown away, and turned into a spider creature, and forgotten about. I just loved the silly humor, and i dont really like the sudden ARC's that appear.
The problem is the current writers. Back then, sure, the characters had their moments, but they were still consistent. But when the new writers, those being the Zamnation writers, came onto the series during the Puzzlevision arc, it lead to characters getting heavily flanderized. SMG4 used to be a well written protagonist, to a attention seeking man child, Tari went from a shy, but strong willed woman, to a shriveling mess who can barely think for herself. Most of the cast is just there, including Mario, who just became a side character, even though he’s one of the main protagonists. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Honestly SMG4 has been on a downward spiral, ever since It's gotta be perfect. New SMG4 isn't awful or anything, it's just not even close to the old days. I also heard two things... I heard that people say Glitch is better these days and that SMG4 became "brainrot". First of all, no the fuck is not. I don't like either Digital Circus or Murder Drones, besides like an episode or two. Second of all, there's many arguments you could make that SMG4 isn't brainrot nowadays. Matter of fact, I would go as far as to say it's always been brainrot, but it used to be in a good kind of way. When you think about it, SMG4 in the old days was stupid memes, stupid jokes that was random nonsense at times, which was still hilarious btw. Now, I feel like the team is trying too hard to focus on a plot. Idk if that's the best way to explain it though.
Rip Saiko and Tari they have both been underused a lot and don’t even get me started on team smg3, the only two that’s still used a bit is smg3 and jubbers. They now focus on smg4 smg3, mario and that’s parasitically all they literally appear in most of the recent episodes

For me the 3 main problems are:
1. The Nintendo purge:
While smg4 is fair use, Nintendo doesn’t care and if they wanted they could get Luke pretty much executed. Luke probably knows this, and it’s why old characters like bowser or toad disappeared, which is fine, but it has removed a lot of soul from smg4
2. Ass writing: it’s just bad, Meggy gets tortured for a month strait and then goes: “I wIsH I CoUlD haVe BeeN yOUr FriEnd”
It’s just one example, but it represents the lack of awareness in the writing, like they didn’t re-read the script before moving forward. Aswell now when they introduce a new character I often go “wow he’s annoying, I hope he doesn’t stick around” and the arcs are just badly written ever since genesis, when they fumbled the axol and melony ship, combined with the wasted potential; saiko is screaming for some character development and they just keep developing meggy.
3. The family-friendlyness:
Now while smg4 never had that much swearing, it’s still crazy how much they’ve toned it down.
And it’s probably not Luke or Kevin’s fault but UA-cam; because at the end of the day, they have to eat. And I’m not saying change is bad, if smg4 hadn’t changed we’d all be complaining about it, but it could have been changed differently.
(Btw smg4 was brain rot for zoomers just the gen alpha humor could be written better)

Unfortunately we’ve hit a dilemma here, Luke/Whoever is the head of SMG4, has been putting a lack of personality into their characters and has been changing personalities and been reusing characters and not giving other characters a chance in the spotlight. yes, im talking about the characters SMG4 and Meggy, the most overused characters in the show. Meggy feels like a Mario now, a character basically in every single episode now. When will we EVER get an episode where SMG4, Mario, and Meggy aren’t present. Im sure There could be a lot of ideas, like We have characters like, Luigi, SMG3 (also kinda overused), Bob (cringe), Boopkins (also kinda cringe), Tari, Melony, Saiko, Swag, Chris, Karen, + More. surely we can do something with these characters… right? Unfortunately SMG4 isn’t exactly listening to his fans, is he?
Ever since the episode, The Day My Arm Went Psycho, there has been a drastic increase in drama in the SMG4 community…
Hopefully all of this will resolve maybe… and possibly get better?

Which isn't far from the truth, most "criticism" I found on smg4 just comes down to "old good new bad" with no explanation. This video is the first criticism video that I've seen in months that has actual criticism

Every show has seasons that are worse than others, those seasons either become the death of the show, or the fans give constructive criticism and the show better again sometimes. Problem is most people don't seem to know what CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is. And the show has to see and listen to the constructive criticism
I used to love smg4 as a kid, I seriously do not have enough hyperfixation my being to even try to come back and get past the complete continuity lockout that is modern smg4. And I really hate his redesign lmao

I feel that SMG4 also kinda underuses the Classic Characters like Peach and Bowser. They need to be more involved again instead of being quick gags. Who knows maybe Peach could get character development. It sucks that even after the T Pose Virus where she saves everyone, now she was just left to rot and no one cared about her. Even people forgot about her existence. Which sucks because she’s literally a Classic SMG4 Character. Bowser barely ever shows up either!
They completely removed Peach from the series and that kinda pisses me off, she could’ve been a straight woman character like Meggy sort of used to be. Or heck, give her a mini arc where after her castle is destroyed she slowly learns to appreciate the crew more and maybe even joins them more on adventures.

Tbh for me it started with meggy’s existance.
I used to love smg4. The addition of Meggy was where I stopped getting interested, didnt like the mary sue trope, and then the last thing I watched was the Waluigi arc (I know, old) and I personally think the ending of it could've been handled way better, but it was disappointing, plus all the removal of characters and the new ones were getting plus the redesigns, wasn't really my thing. SMG4 went from a fun shtpost world to a world which characters that aren't enjoyable and look way different now from then whether from copyright, just having a redesign to have one, or whatever the reason. This is why I'd always go to 2015 - 2017 smg4 videos if I really wanted to watch them.
I didn’t mind the modern SMG4 (even as someone who is a long time fan), but recently since the advent of Mr puzzles and the “it’s gotta be perfect” arc, it just feels like crap, I personally am not one to let nostalgia blind me and if I don’t like it anymore I just move on or just watch the old stuff later, but Mr puzzles, “it’s gotta be perfect” arc, and the lawsuit arc just kinda suck now, so does everything after it

It’s been almost a year now since I quit watching SMG4 and characters were meh to not great, Karen being the only exception of newer characters I enjoyed by the time I was done, Nintendo characters not appearing almost at all anymore has also not helped and now the fandom is getting taken over by some weird TV man

Smg4 is uh… eh ig… i really hate how Meggy is always appearing in the newer episodes because she’s annoying af, never liked her. We need bowser back, toad back and a lot of old ones back. (Especially the colours Mario’s) some of the characters that pop up a lot in the newest are OK at best. I don’t really got a problem with by example: Mario, Luigi (pops up a little bit..) smg3 (he does pop up in a lot of newer episodes, probably to much but he’s fine ig).
I kind of like the “remastered64” episodes, because they try to show back some old characters and the old time. But what do we expect… 12+ years of YT for smg4. He was gonna change one way or another. Can’t keep the old style forever or dark jokes.. (mostly cuz of UA-cam they can’t rlly put dark jokes)

Smg4 is used to be my personal favorite when he was making those old blooper videos or when Mario gets in random games and all,me and my friends were watching him a lot, but now he has just became a brain rot in my opinion, i don't like how almost all of them just changed, in fact I hate it, and I stopped watching SMG4, maybe if they get some kind of redemption and get back to old videos, maybe I would watch him again but I doubt that this will ever happend

I spent an entire year falling in love with these characters and then the episode Mario is the last man on earth happened and ruined the series for me. The gang except for Mario are so unlikable and selfish now. Meggy is bossy and won’t help unless she gets something out of it. Tari basically became a knockoff Greta thumberg in one episode, and everyone constantly proves that they will do anything to hurt Mario
Mario used to be a jerk, and a idiot, kind of like an are aggressive homer Simpson. The comedy in early smg4, at least for me, was when mario was an a** to everyone, then he does something stupid that gives him his comeuppance. But now, he's just stupid all the time, and it's not funny when he gets a ton of the slapstick done to him, because he doesn't deserve it, like he used to in the old videos. It's kinda like squidword was in SpongeBob back in the 2010s. They forget the reason why him getting hurt was funny, was because he was a jerk and deserved it.

Like Saiko & Melony, they’ve never really played an important role in recent SMG4 episodes, it would be better if they actually USED other characters in main episodes, and new duos and trios, because the SMG3-SMG4-Mario thing is pretty annoying now. These guys have potential, but it’s like the same character and character duo-trios are hogging the spotlight. And some characters just need better writing like SMG4. The "A Night’s at SMG4" made it seem like SMG4 is ignoring everything he did. But that’s my take on how SMG4 can somewhat improve.

I lost interest in the SMG4 channel for a reason... It was the episode with SMG4 was sued by Funky Kong or something like that. At the end, SMG4 and other characters such like Bob, Fishy Boopkins or Meggy get new model...only for sell merchandise products. I was like, ok, they are no longer passionate, just only want people money.

SMG3 had character development for years and we all just want SMG4 and SMG3 to be bros now. Since he was born he always had a story arc for.. almost 13 years now and its just not going anywhere. SMG4 and SMG3 STILL FUCKING HATE EACHOTHER. Sure SMG3 is on the main team now but i feel like if didnt really chamge much about him. That was just another example of taris character development. They get an episode for character development once in a while but after that we are just back to how it was exactly before the episode. Theres just nothing really changing.

I haven't watched smg4 since like summer of 2023 because i've been getting tired of them using the same goddamn characters every episode, i feel like the humor's also gotten worse with them reusing the same jokes, the episodes also got extremely uninteresting with them mostly being youtube related and not having much variety, i also feel like the arcs are useless now because after they end all that development that they built up just disappears and the entire puzzlevision arc was extremely uninteresting atleast compared to the cosmology arcs, now i don't hate smg4, i have neutral feelings towards the series, but i just wish smg4 could give his other characters more spotlight, because the episodes could have more variety if the side characters played a big role

for me, the big comeback would have been mr puzzles, but then they developed him as like your average smg4 villain. then they made smg3 from a villain to just a guy who hates smg4 but is still friends and enemy (frenemy) at the same time. leggy is not funny.
