  • General Aviation Modifications, Incorporated’s George Braly announced in a seminar today that Vitol (a commodities trading company) has brewed 1 million gallons of GAMI’s G100UL, 100-octane unleaded aviation fuel, stored in a tank at its Baton Rouge plant. More importantly, according to Braly, the fuel, after testing, received a COA, a certificate of authenticity, which then makes it “commercially viable.” With this announcement, Braly and GAMI hope to counter the critics that say while the fuel has received FAA approval for use under the STC process, it’s not commercially viable. The term is important because of a consent decree taken in California that could force the changeover to an unleaded fuel when an alternative to 100LL becomes “commercially viable”

When it was approved they were saying up to 50 cents a gallon more, now they are saying a dollar, by the time it shows up to most pumps it will be at least 2 dollars more, mark my words.

It's about time. Hopefully mogas availability becomes more widespread now.

      G100UL isn't MOGAS.

@@peteranderson037 But 100UL is EXPENSIVE, so more people can demand mogas and avoid buying such an expensive fuel.

@@PistonAvatarGuy That's fine. But the FBOs and other entities are whining about needing more infrastructure, tanks, pumps & trucks etc. already. But so G100UL is supposed to be a drop in replacement for 100LL, no new infrastructure needed. So they're not going to want to put in mogas either in my estimation. But yeah for engines that don't need 100 octane, mogas would save a lot of money.

@@PistonAvatarGuy What's the price? Where can you find G100UL being sold? I do not believe it is being sold retail anywhere yet. Edit: Just watched the video and the pricing details shared by George Braly indicate that it will cost very near the price of 100LL. It will cost $1.00 more than the cost of premium auto gas in the gulf coast area. That sounds like it will cost about the same as 100LL in that area.
