You mentioned the brakes on the Ridstar Q20, the brakes are one of the reasons I chose Amyet over Ridstar. The pads Ridstar uses for their brakes are proprietary, you can only order replacements from them. And if they stop selling them then you'd need to replace the brakes entirely.
The other major factor that made me steer away is the dual battery model only lets each battery run the separate motors rather than pooling the power or letting you use up one battery and switching to the other for extended range. I also didn't like the method of turning the motors on and off, they use this really cheap switch that my Yume Hawk Pro scooter uses for the lights. It constantly sounds like it's about to short out.

I did not know this going in and I'm glad to hear there are other reasons than justbthe looks. I like the look of the amyets so far somebody knows which models of the 73 we really wanted for a cheaper price. I call the s6 the baby grizzly

@@Slow_PEV the looks are what made me want an ebike in the first place. Well, I got a fast ass scooter and that made me want an ebike to cruise around on, but when I saw the Amyets I knew I didn't want the mountain bike style ebikes or the folding bikes. I watched a bunch of videos and read a lot of reddit reviews before deciding to pull the trigger on the S8. It was between that and the Ridstar Q20 but the brakes were the final straw that made me pick the S8. I almost went with the S6 but decided to just save a little bit of money for any upgrades I might want down the road.

@l_burn true I was torn between the s6 or s8 but the price of 52 volt batteries made me take the s6. Still I love the s8 and I feel there should be more of both in the world. Biggest thing the company needs to do is have a seperate store for replacement parts.

If you do just plan on a stringer rear shock, and flat out in the tires I went with 10oz each. Also amyet might be updating the s6 in the future

Get a splitter it has the same box for controllers and then add a second battery. How many miles on your s8?

You had that same bike for a long Time, does it give you any problems like with electronics of the frame.

No problems at all so far I put 10 Oz of flat out in the tires and sent it as is out the box not even touching the brakes I'll say someone at amyet is wanting to keep a good name and it shows, I've been in contact with them and the rear shock should be revised on future models. I'm going with a 2k lb shock to pretty much make it hardtail for performance. Trying to catch up with traffic going uphill it can shake easily because of that rear shock.
