Before I started watching your channel, the biggest catfish I had ever caught was maybe 8-9 pounds. In the last 3 years I have caught now 3 flatheads over 40 and recently a 32 inch channel, all thanks to you guys and your techniques. Thank you very much!!
@marty5802 i feel the same with my catfishing here in south africa, and along with fish with carl these 2 channels have been getting me to become a much better angler
When me and a few buds fished catfish tournaments, 95% of the time we would have a fish on while we were busy flappin our gums, listening to the radio or dozing off lol. I know this spot pretty well. This is very, very close to where we always had duck blinds. If you fish that area again and have time, hit Winfield and Clarksville dams, and Chain of Rocks for bait, the skipjack runs can be pretty good in those areas and can be caught pretty easily with throw nets and white sabiki rigs.
Small fish always show up during tournaments lol. One of the best things in tournaments is learn how to optimize time. It’s hard to tell what’s the best strategy and I believe each kind of angler has a different ideal strategy. Fishing tournaments are so cool, love them. Love the video, Spencer!
Dang, was hoping it would be the one you fished with us in Gadsden. 😂 Awesome having you there for our tournament, man! Curious to see how your day went here.
@@RiverCertified Can't wait, man! The May tourney should be hot! It's at Stevenson on Lake Guntersville, big fish heaven out there. Should be multiple 100# bags! My pb flatty came from there, I know that's something you're into. 😎
Should’ve went to the Columbia bottoms that’s were a lot of the guys with good fish were putting in at. The Missouri River was def the go to during that tournament! I had no clue you were even in the tournament! Been watching you for a while and was kinda shocked to see you had a video from the twisted cat tournament!
Hey Spence totally enjoyed watching y'all, was sure hoping y'all would catch some pig's. Perseverance is what you gotta keep at all time's. And having fun makes it worth the time too.Great video 💯💯👍👍
I always catch more catfish on chicken than fresh cut bait. After a 4 year California drought the fishery has gone bad even with two wet winters. The same bait in the spot hasn’t produced. I’ll have to enjoy watching you guys
@@RiverCertified I started buying thighs and freezing a couple years ago; stays on the hook and easy to use. Oily fish likely to spread better but putting in front of the fish may be more important than superstition. Bass fisherman seem to be obsessed with gear. The pace of catfishing suits me at 72 years.
Alton Illinois. I believe that is the farthest north a bull shark was caught. Sometime in the early 1900s before the lock system was installed on the Mississippi drainage
We ended up going back out after Landen took off and found them luckily. Plus we bought some too. I still gotta give you a call about doing some fishing.
We always and i mean always grt the dip net wet very first thing, even before baits go in the water, during a tournament.🤯 Another thing we do is get to the rocks on the outside bends right in the fast current and catch a limit of small ones. Five to ten pounders and then cull. The fish are only in those fast water rocks for one reason and thats to feed. Then go on the hunt. One a few tournaments with just the little ones. You're definitely gaining on it. Awesome vid and keep your powder dry and your pantry stocked young man😎💪🙏🏻
I’ve been watching your channel for a while now and I think that’s the first time I saw you use chicken for bait. Were any of those fish caught on the chicken?
@@RiverCertified I bought the black kastking rover 60 and paired it with the Shakespeare ugly stik 8 ft catfish special haven't been fishing with it yet but it casts like a dream and seems to be a good quality reel fingers crossed.
I am not a pro by any means but where I live the best thing I have ever used to catch cats is chicken livers. If you leave them out in the sun for a few hours they work even better. Just bring some cheap plastic gloves and your all good. I think I may have said this to you before.
Best thing was you all were easy going with the entire thing. Couple of earlier ones you weren't having fun, to stressful, business like. Me, stressful, deeper flood than in Feb, but now over. Damn Georgians have no concern about anyone down river/dam, just their wants.
Couldn't agree more. Seems like the more fun I have, the better I do as well. I was looking at the gauge down there the other day and thought of ya. Glad you're doing okay.
BRING PIG PATROL AND SPEND A WEEK END AT CARLYLE SPILLWAY FOR BANK FLATHEAD FISHING ONE WEEKEND, CAMPING SPOTS ON RIVER TOO BRING FAMILY DOGS AND ALL , WOULD BE FUN AND GREAT , FAN INTERACTION!
I think you would do better if just went and scouting areas no fishing and just let what happens happens some times you can over think and hurt yourself by seeing and catch fish at places on one day and they may not be there next just fish like you are on vacation fishing

I guess admitting failure doesn't bother me too much. Glad you appreciate it dude.
Im proud of you Spencer you are the guy that got me into catfishing im sure youll win a tournament one day you have it in you
You've got the right mindset, Spencer. Keep producing the great content.
I appreciate that man. I'll definitely do my best.
It’s all about having fun Spencer, love your videos 👍👍👍💪💪💪
Amen to that. Really glad you enjoy them.
Thanks for taking us along. Live about 40 minutes north of Alton and from Des Moines.
It's fun to watch you move your way up the mountain. Congratulations on the respectable finish in the big tournament .
I appreciate that. Not sure I'm moving up the mountain, but definitely having fun trying new stuff.
Congrats Spenc! Any time on the water is a great time!
Absolutely dude! Thanks for always watching!
Looked like a blast. Tournaments seem to be quite trying. Great work and thanks as always for sharing brother!! 👍🏽👊🏽✊🏽☺💯
Definitely a lot of effort gets put into them, but I enjoy the work. Glad you enjoyed it man!

Beautiful day on the water. River certified is the man, as always Daiwa Is King 👑
Agreed with the first statement. The second is definitely debatable haha. Thanks for watching man.
Nice job, still doin what you love to do congratulations!!!
Absolutely. Thanks Randy.
Any fishing tournament is severely addictive, ive done two and the feeling when that line bounces makes your heart go from 60 to 160 in a second
I'm learning that very quickly. All the good stuff is way better and all the bad stuff is way worse haha

I enjoy the tournament side as a viewer thanks for the trip
You bet. I'm glad you enjoy them, especially because I want to give them a good try before I decide if I'm gonna keep doing it or not.
Really enjoy the tournament videos. Keep it up and you’ll be in the money soon!

haha substantially better. I missed more flatheads that day than I have in the last 5 years. Just blows my mind.

Did you see the state record spoonbill (paddlefish) caught on Truman Lake this week? 164.8 lbs.
I did. That thing was freaky big.
A guy in the next town over from me placed 2nd with the 103 lb. Blue. Fun tourney
I'm bummed I missed seeing that fish in the weigh in. That's a giant!
Making the weigh-in is a win.
On that river I definitely agree. Thanks for watching.
Omg I wish I would have known you were in Alton I am for there did you put in under the bridge
I put in on the Missouri. It was a trailering event.
Nice to chat before the live well check... Go Cards! ;)

One thing I've learned fishing for big blues is that Big Baits catch Big Fish.
That's funny. I've had pretty mixed results. I guess big baits are a matter of perception too.
Maybe wasn't $$$ but it was a good video.
Hope you win the next one. You never know.

What do you guys do in your downtime when you’re waiting? I don’t really like fishing for cats because it’s so boring just sitting and waiting.
