I wish this channel had existed when I started to learn Turkish a few years ago. It is definitely a treasure for those who are after online materials for learning Turkish. Way back when I started getting involved with Turkish the available material online was scarce and often contained contradictory information and satisfying explanation about grammar or the usage of certain words was practically non-existent. So I wish I could put this channel into a time machine and send it back to some 6-7 years earlier. It would have spared me a lot of trouble and embarrasing moments. 😁 Since then I have reached a very decent level in Turkish and I’m about to finish my PhD dissertation in Turkish but I still love watching these videos. Actually each video feels like a virtual pat on the back because they make me realise how much I have progressed during these years. I guess what I am trying to say is that I wish the best of luck for those who have recently started to learn Turkish and a million thanks to those who put effort in making these videos. Can you tell us something about how you learned turkish? I learn turkish since one year and feel a bit stucked - for example i can express a lot of things but actuall conversations are very hard becouse i often dont understand the answere of my counterpart and have to ask him to repeat in other words 3 or 4 times so we often fall back into german or english language. i know this is a question of disciplin but most commonly i either meat my turkish friends with others so i dont want to take all the time or i meet them to write some text for them or discuss something with them so turkish costs much more time to achive the acutall goal. By now i am - I started learning with duolingo - but i passed through all levels and think i dont make any progress with it anymore. - I also have a box of vocabulary and fill up some vocabulary every few days from watching youtube-videos for example or reading a turkish online article (first try to understand myself - then google translate and compare with the actuall turkish sentence) - Also i watch those youtube videos sometimes (your right turkishle is the best video channel i found by now becouse you realy learn about the context of the words and how to use them in acutall conversations) - And i just started watching some turkish series with english or german subtitles but i have the feeling as if it doesnt help me much becouse i cant rly listen and try to understand the spoken turkish while reading the subtitles - often turkish needs less words then english so you have to read the subtitles pretty fast. - I try to make every WhatsApp Conversation with turkish friends in turkish language becouse i have enough time to think about my sentences - And of course i try speaking with my friends or listen to them speaking to each other and try to follow but as i said we often fall back into german or english or i need a translation Do you have any tips how i can make more progress? Would you recommend doing a course at highschool for example? Would you recommend learning books for making more progress? I started a learning book once but it was very frustrating for me becouse you repeat a sentence 1000 times with different words but it doesnt make any fun.
It was every easy cause I usually watch Turkish dramas especially dirilis ertugrul so expect the last one daily routine one I understood all of the conversation your content is great.
As a person who were born and grew up in Turkey. Here's a little tip for beginners. Our voice tone changes as we ask something or answer/tell, for me or some more people while asking you make your voice softer and while answering you say with your normal tone. This is an important thing to know if you wanna speak Turkish normally (not judging how you speak it) listening to podcasts like these will help you!

It took me 20 min to get through the video 🤣🤣🤣. I have to thank you first for reminding me why I fell in love with the language. I paused and skipped back a few times with the purpose of listening again, analysing the word and sentence structure. The words that are spelled with and accent sign above them really throw me off! And how you combine words where and when. Especially when you refer to yourself and you coming it in with another word. It's very confusing. The video is very helpful and I really liked analysing it. The speed at which you speak was also a thing but it is good that you demonstrated the normal speed at which native speakers speak.

This is great listening material. I just wish that the first version had been without subtitles, and the second one with text. I covered the text the first time I listened (so two trials for each dialogue, just listening), then I rewatched and checked with the subtitles whether I had understood correctly and what I had missed. I like that you went for normal speed. It is fast, but that´s what you get to hear in real life, so better train up for it 🙂

Alright, so I'm American, traveling in Turkey, and recently had the whole "How old are you?" "I'm this old" "Wow, you look younger" conversation with some people i was introduced to. We all went around guessing each other's ages and then complimenting them based on how they look younger. 🤔 Someone's age is relatively private in America and, well, i felt kind of awkward. But this is perhaps a standard bit of introduction here.
Yeah in the US and Canada it’s weird we don’t mention our age when meeting someone new. But in middle eastern culture and Turkey (I’m guessing many more as well those are just what I know) it’s totally normal to ask for someone’s age when making introductions. In the Middle East it’s also a way of complimenting because we’ll often reply with “you look so young” or “wow 19, you’re so mature for your age” and so on. So yeah it’s perfectly normal for age to come up in a conversation! 😁
At last! A decent channel run by natives. Loving the dialogue having different levels. Although speed might be a problem that can be fixed with the speed adjustment on UA-cam, the real challenge is how to catch the letters mid word you omit.. with the ending omissions I'm used to. I am not Turkish nor do I understand Turkish, but I am fascinated by how it sounds. It's so different from Arabic. I think it's one of the most unique languages in the world.
Great effort. Its far easier to understand written Turkish. Pretty hard to follow the spoken one. Interesting to know the Turkish word for nurse, Hemşire. In (good) Urdu also we have the borrowed word from Persian called Hamshira meaning sister. Usually the word 'sister' was used for nurses in military hospitals.

I wish this channel had existed when I started to learn Turkish a few years ago. It is definitely a treasure for those who are after online materials for learning Turkish. Way back when I started getting involved with Turkish the available material online was scarce and often contained contradictory information and satisfying explanation about grammar or the usage of certain words was practically non-existent. So I wish I could put this channel into a time machine and send it back to some 6-7 years earlier. It would have spared me a lot of trouble and embarrasing moments. 😁
Since then I have reached a very decent level in Turkish and I’m about to finish my PhD dissertation in Turkish but I still love watching these videos. Actually each video feels like a virtual pat on the back because they make me realise how much I have progressed during these years. I guess what I am trying to say is that I wish the best of luck for those who have recently started to learn Turkish and a million thanks to those who put effort in making these videos. Can you tell us something about how you learned turkish?
I learn turkish since one year and feel a bit stucked - for example i can express a lot of things but actuall conversations are very hard becouse i often dont understand the answere of my counterpart and have to ask him to repeat in other words 3 or 4 times so we often fall back into german or english language. i know this is a question of disciplin but most commonly i either meat my turkish friends with others so i dont want to take all the time or i meet them to write some text for them or discuss something with them so turkish costs much more time to achive the acutall goal.
By now i am
- I started learning with duolingo - but i passed through all levels and think i dont make any progress with it anymore.
- I also have a box of vocabulary and fill up some vocabulary every few days from watching youtube-videos for example or reading a turkish online article (first try to understand myself - then google translate and compare with the actuall turkish sentence)
- Also i watch those youtube videos sometimes (your right turkishle is the best video channel i found by now becouse you realy learn about the context of the words and how to use them in acutall conversations)
- And i just started watching some turkish series with english or german subtitles but i have the feeling as if it doesnt help me much becouse i cant rly listen and try to understand the spoken turkish while reading the subtitles - often turkish needs less words then english so you have to read the subtitles pretty fast.
- I try to make every WhatsApp Conversation with turkish friends in turkish language becouse i have enough time to think about my sentences
- And of course i try speaking with my friends or listen to them speaking to each other and try to follow but as i said we often fall back into german or english or i need a translation
Do you have any tips how i can make more progress? Would you recommend doing a course at highschool for example? Would you recommend learning books for making more progress? I started a learning book once but it was very frustrating for me becouse you repeat a sentence 1000 times with different words but it doesnt make any fun.

Our voice tone changes as we ask something or answer/tell, for me or some more people while asking you make your voice softer and while answering you say with your normal tone. This is an important thing to know if you wanna speak Turkish normally (not judging how you speak it) listening to podcasts like these will help you!

It took me 20 min to get through the video 🤣🤣🤣. I have to thank you first for reminding me why I fell in love with the language. I paused and skipped back a few times with the purpose of listening again, analysing the word and sentence structure. The words that are spelled with and accent sign above them really throw me off! And how you combine words where and when. Especially when you refer to yourself and you coming it in with another word. It's very confusing. The video is very helpful and I really liked analysing it. The speed at which you speak was also a thing but it is good that you demonstrated the normal speed at which native speakers speak.

This is great listening material. I just wish that the first version had been without subtitles, and the second one with text. I covered the text the first time I listened (so two trials for each dialogue, just listening), then I rewatched and checked with the subtitles whether I had understood correctly and what I had missed.
I like that you went for normal speed. It is fast, but that´s what you get to hear in real life, so better train up for it 🙂

Alright, so I'm American, traveling in Turkey, and recently had the whole "How old are you?" "I'm this old" "Wow, you look younger" conversation with some people i was introduced to. We all went around guessing each other's ages and then complimenting them based on how they look younger.

Someone's age is relatively private in America and, well, i felt kind of awkward. But this is perhaps a standard bit of introduction here.
Yeah in the US and Canada it’s weird we don’t mention our age when meeting someone new. But in middle eastern culture and Turkey (I’m guessing many more as well those are just what I know) it’s totally normal to ask for someone’s age when making introductions. In the Middle East it’s also a way of complimenting because we’ll often reply with “you look so young” or “wow 19, you’re so mature for your age” and so on. So yeah it’s perfectly normal for age to come up in a conversation! 😁
At last! A decent channel run by natives. Loving the dialogue having different levels. Although speed might be a problem that can be fixed with the speed adjustment on UA-cam, the real challenge is how to catch the letters mid word you omit.. with the ending omissions I'm used to. We need lots of practice. This is the first time on the channel and really this one dialogue made me. subscribe already. Are there any books that you guys could recommend for English speakers?

Great effort. Its far easier to understand written Turkish. Pretty hard to follow the spoken one. Interesting to know the Turkish word for nurse, Hemşire. In (good) Urdu also we have the borrowed word from Persian called Hamshira meaning sister. Usually the word 'sister' was used for nurses in military hospitals.
In Turkish, the word "Hemşire" is used both for the sister and for the nurse. But it hasn't been used for 'sister' in 100 years.

actually, there is a word similar to this in turkish. "hemşehri" is used for people whose hometown is the same. like relatives. i think it is of persian origin.
