- Kishoritai's rendering of this Bhoop is the best of her entire career. This recording, from a concert on 18th October 1970 at Hari Mahadev Vaidya Hall, Mumbai, is made available by courtesy of Kishoriji's senior-most disciple, Dr Arun Dravid, from his vast collection of her original live recordings from concerts before 1990 which had the distinct stamp of Jaipur Gharana, yet enriched with her skilled beautification of it with her quest for Bhava. As a result, these reflect her refreshingly youthful voice, vibrancy, and musical content not always found in her later concerts.

I have been deeply pained by a comment from puremusic 1980 (which, and replies to it, have now been deleted) that has lashed at me with deeply hurtful and hateful language with regard to these uploads. I have discussed this comment with Kishoritai’s son Mr. Bibhas Amonkar who has nothing but gratitude to me for preserving and digitising his mother’s music during all these years. Bibhas is also pained at the puremusic 1980 comment, but supports the project of making her music available to music-lovers at large. However, to avoid such painful acrimony in the future from people like puremusic 1980 who, without disclosing their identity, may use many means to discredit, intimidate and harm me, I have decided to stop uploading on UA-cam Kishoritai’s best music particularly from her younger years. Instead, I will work closely with Bibhas to upload it on a website that will be owned by the Amonkar Family Trust which is in the process of being registered with the authorities. So please wait patiently for a few months till I publish the rest of the treasure on that Trust website. This way, I will not have to face offensive comments from hateful people ever again. Bibhas has agreed that the 15 uploads released by me through the Sangeetveda1 channel recently need not be taken down. I am most thankful to all those who have given fitting replies to puremusic 1980 in my support.

To develop a Raag with such deliberate attention to each note, sans any vocal acrobatics is such a challenge. A supreme example of how a badat should be. No other artist comes close to such mastery. Tai’s music justifies the saying “the purpose of music is silence”.
I just wish the sycophantic “wah wah” could be edited out of the recording.

कहा जाता है राग और रसोई एक ही बार बनती है तो जाहिर है कि महान गान सरस्वती माता किशोरी जी की यह अदायगी उनके जीवन में एक ही बार घटित हुई थी। मैंं सोचता हूँ कि उन्होंने कई बार चाहा होगा कि इस प्रस्तुति को दोहरा लें लेकिन संभव नहीं हुआ होगा। भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत की यही खासियत है कि जब गायक के मन में जो उपज आए और वह प्रस्तुत हो जाए तो वह धन्य हो जाता है। जरूरी नहीं कि वही उपज उसे दूसरी बार भी सूझ जाए।
Only Vidushi Kishori tai knows what world she is walking in during this baithak. As is evident from the sheer overjoyed reactions of the patrons during most of the aalaaps in the vilambit khyaal, one (or at least I) simply doesn't know how to digest such depth and beauty in the alaaps.

Recently I listened to this recordings and just learnt that she was much more than I knew about her in her name and fame.
She also belongs to the rare genre who did not go on scattering gems here and there on their way to shine and show, rather if your luck you heard one right piece of their nobility, that is enough. That is what they were doing for themselves and not only for their listeners. If you could pick one such pearl in your journey as a listener, you would know your artist for that stroke of excellency. That piece would change your perception..
This is as true about their artistry as their own love and approach in their art.

Dear Dr Dravid I have enjoyed the content on your channel and I am sorry to learn that you were attacked by an Internet Troll. You should ignore them and continue what you feel is right. By stopping uploads to this channel you are actually letting the Troll win. My sincere suggestion is not to upload this music on a separate website. That will drastically reduce the number of people who listen to Kishoritai's music. You can create an official "Kishori Amonkar" youtube channel which can be managed by the family trust. That will keep her music on youtube while also sparing you from dealing with the Internet Trolls. Thank You again for recording and preserving this treasure for all these years.
Truly, it's one of the best renderings of Kishori Ji that I've ever heard, either live or recordings, in my entire lifetime.
However, the sound reproduction of the recording is neither up to the minimum stanand and/or quality nor quite distinct as well as loud enough.

This bandish Pratham Sur Sadhe was made available to Kishori Taai by Music Teacher Smt. Kamal Pathare in late 1980s. At that time only Taai made first presentation of this bandlsh at Neharu Center. Mumbai. HMV then published a CD of this presentation.
Pratham Sur Saadhe is Kishoritais own composition. It has been confirmed that it was composed in the late 60s, I am sure Arun mama will endorse the same.
Mr. Shirodkar is mistaken about this Bandish. It was composed by Kishoritai herself in late 1960's. There are several live concert recordings of the same Raag and Bandish with me of the period after 1970, with dates on record. Niranjan Sanzgiri has correctly commented about it.

With regards to Bhoop, I was wondering whether Partham Sur Saadhe was tai’s own composition. Although I have heard her and many others sing Eri aaj bhailava, the former bandish, in my humble observation, seems to have a particularly special connect with tai.
Secondly, did she ever Mahadeva in drut laya for Bhoop?
@@shivamsahni6755 yes, Pratham Sur Saadhe is Kishoritai's own Bandish. She never sang "E Mahadeva" Drut Bandish. That was taught to me by my first Guru Ustad Majid Khansaheb.

Had heard you talk about tai’s mastery of shrutis in Kaushi Kanada. Since that was a classic example of her genius to seamlessly flow between 2 raags, I am assuming she also excelled singing Darbari Kanada as a stand alone. Yet I haven’t come across any recording of her Darbari.. is there any particular reason for this?
Also, there exists on UA-cam, only one recording of her singing raag Shree. Did she ever sing it more than once?
@@shivamsahni6755 She taught Darbari to me, but never sang it herself in any concert. Her view was that Darbari was a masculine Raag, only suitable for male voice. So she encouraged me to sing it. But while teaching it she made sure that the right Shruti of notes Ga and Ni we're were absorbed by me. She did sing Shree several times. I have many of her concert recordings of Shree.
