The benefits being it’s being funded by the tourism taxes rather than the housing taxes, so residents won’t have to pay any additional money in taxes. I’m from the state of Rhode Island born and raised and having not just a new stadium but an overall revamped surrounding area means whole weekend trips and more reasons to go to St. Pete regular outside of ball games. Could be the patriot place of florida

Downtown Tampa is getting that way with Lightning.😊

Surely the percentage of people that are from or if town in Pinellas is not that much more than Hillsborough. St Pete is Poppin, need light rail from Tampa.

Where in Tampa could a stadium be built? The Ybor City site was to small for all that they want to build around a new ballpark. In St Pete they have over 80 acres compared to the 14 in Ybor.

Can you tell me. What area is all retirement homes. If you’re going to post a video at least be truthful. Yes the area is not ideal. Tampa couldn’t and wouldn’t step up. It seems you are a fan. You should be doing back flips and kissing St Pete’s ass for saving this area the same fate as Oakland.

Yeah this is pretty clearly a tampon who only goes to St. Pete to go to the stadium and knows nothing about the rest of downtown.

I live in DTSP. It's not the retirement village people think it is.
There are a lot of young people here.

@@FAITHandLOGICAnd further growing (even before this deal). Clearly, both rays and municipality forsee/are modeling for the demographic projection changes over the next decade with the new site being another cog to spur that growth.

Should have built near Orlando! No one wants to drive over the bridge. 20,000 at the playoff games, that's poor. Orlando is a tourist destination. You could draw points north to Daytona, Tampa, Orlando, points south. BAD move staying in St Pete

As a Tampa resident, I think Orlando was a much better option than St Pete. The damn bridge makes the drive just as far as Orlando! At least people live in Orlando, unlike St. Pete.

I don't live in Tampa like you, and I know at the beginning of the video you said eventually they would have to move to Tampa to get attendance... But, do you think that maybe with this new St. Petersburg village, which would probably lead to even more St. Petersburg growth and expansion into its own city, that in the new stadium, they will be able to sustain high attendance throughout the baseball season?

I think attendance numbers at the new stadium will be great until the novelty of the "new stadium" wears off. That said, I am not ruling out the possibility that a new mega-complex like this one could consistently bring in good attendance every year.

I don’t agree with your view. The drive to St. Pete from Tampa is not terrible. Have you been in downtown St. Pete lately? Do you see old people there? Stop whining about the drive. Residents in st Pete could argue the same thing for the Bucs and Bolts games. Do you hear St. Pete residents complaining about the drive? I think downtown is a pretty cool place and peo0le will show up to the games once the stadium is built.

Only time will tell if st Pete will embrace the concept. For the sake of my beloved rays, I truly hope it does! Like everyone else, I get tired of the same attendance jokes over and over again. I will still absolutely make the drive from Tampa but for the majority of the rays fanbase it will still be a difficult drive. I went to the game tonight and from USF it took literally 1 hour 20 mins to arrive. While I am willing to make that commute for several games, others aren’t. That’s always been the argument for having a new stadium in Tampa. But I’m happy about this news at the end of the day! Go rays.

@@ChiefsRaysBolts I will act like a typical New Yorker and jump into another state's conversation like I'm an expert... I can't even watch Rays games on TV because it is such a dreary stadium to play in. It makes it such a boring drole watch... So, I can only imagine having to sit in that stadium. And definitely not make a long drive to the stadium... But now, with a much better stadium, it might be worth it. And hopefully, they add roads to help... Also, with more to do there, maybe a 1 hour 20 minutes is more with it when you can do more things before and after games. And with things to do around the park, maybe traffic eases because some people will show up early and some people will leave later...

@@aspireahead8388 honestly not a far fetched thing to consider. I, for one, would love to take part in pre/post game amenities. Especially if the complex features sports bars where fans can have a place to socialize with other fans. Thank you for your comment.
