Quakelive, as you can see the advertisement in the game (and a few other hints). Apart from cosmetic changes, this is a map that was also available in the original Quake 3.
@lituned Might also be that it's easier to hide if needed, as the gauntlet is smaller and you don't risk the enemy seeing your weapon pointing out behind a wall.
@VoiXer Because the tweak out all the gfx that they don't need to boost the fps and overall PC performance. It also makes it somewhat easier to spot players out of the environment.
@bosstanaka88 you would be right, Quake 3 (which is the same game as this, just watch it on youtube) and Unreal Tournament were released only a couple days from each other. The Quake series pre-dates the Unreal series by a couple years, but their was a rivalry between Epic and Id (guys who made Unreal and Quake.) so you are right, it does look alot like unreal because the guys who made Unreal were very inspired by Quake:)
ive got a account but when i clickm on play online then click on a free for all it goes onbto the page then goes back im on google chrome by the way and ive tried the mozilla firefox pls help
@Ragna101 and for the record i'm strictly speaking in terms of competitive play, obviously. i wouldn't think it necessary to point out something so obvious but i understand you have a thick skull.
I don't always get to maximum speed cause I usually run into something, person, wall, rocket =D. I find bunny hopping in quake 3 anything but challenging. Mainly because its so hard in CS.
absolutely. in general, if you need to rely on sick aim in order to not get killed, you are doing something wrong. this is also what cooller critized on strenx. in the end, aim depends on what kind of day you're having and is an unreliability. map knowledge, positioning, item&risk management isn't. but as you said, maybe he wasn't fully on here.
@robbewuzhere Strafe jumping is harder than you think, lol. ... this isn't like halo when it had that easy to do short hops to move faster, strafe jumping moves you waay faster and is very hard to get a hang of if you aren't good.
@camploismyalias It seems that Quake requires more reaction time and high twitch reflexes and aim, but lacks the strategy and teamwork that Counter-Strike players enjoy.
Kinda complicated. If I were to take a gamble I'd go with quake being the hardest but quake players have issues with moving over to CS because of recoil. But its learnable just as learning to predict shots with a rocket is for quake. Probably what makes quake harder is mainly game speed is higher and needing to be able to aim almost anywhere at anytime versus CS is mainly the horizontal plane.
Wonder what poor Weird's ping was. I've played with the guy and he always pinged terribly to servers I was on. There's spots with LG where I know ping 30 or 60 would have killed anyone, but apparently stermy lives with 60 health going down to 20 instead of dying. It's hilarious too, because stermy's first 2 frags come from ridiculous rails, (but I guess he only shoots ridiculous shots, eh?), gets some conversion, and then backs off for the last like 5 minutes.
@Dominus357 This is not correct. You have no idea what "camping" is. It is not possible to camp in a duel game, it's only possible attack or defend. Fighting over armors is precisely what makes duel the hardest game to play. In fact, fighting over armors is precisely where Quake and other 1v1 fps games become meaningful.
@Cheesebla Let me just tell you something. I've been playing Counter Strike for 9 years, I've been to many tournaments and scrimmed for longer than you will probably ever scrim. I've been playing all of the Quake series for about 5 years as well (qw, q2, q3, ql), and I feel like you have the misconception that Quake is 1v1 only. You have modes like CTF (Mostly 4v4) and TDM (2v2 or 4v4), which probably, require much more skill and teamplay than what CS and any other FPS in existence ever will.
@RainboColour You cant compair the two games, they both have different mechanics. In terms of being a complete nobody and taking up one of the games then yeah, cs is probably your best bet because you can hide behind 4 other players where as quake your just going to get slapped in duels and never "win". but in cs you can still win some scrimmages off the back of others.
I have played CS for many years. I have started quake in the last month. My aim has gone to the next level because the skill level regarding aiming and shooting is higher in Quake. Sorry.
@camploismyalias/comparing which game harder is stupid, they are all equally hard because game condotion for all competitors are same. who can drink water faster is same.
This was entertaining to watch, I wish I was this good. :(
@UACDOOM I play a ridiculous amount of Quake but I slaughter in MW2 and BFBC2.
Quakelive, as you can see the advertisement in the game (and a few other hints). Apart from cosmetic changes, this is a map that was also available in the original Quake 3.
Wathing this seriously made my mouth fall open. it's just pure epicness!
No wonder I never heard of Weird before.
that dude is a beast with those rocket jumps.
like it or not, he was chasing that other guy the whole time.
@Zimboy99 in option you can use "simple items" and it will look like these ones.
i was really thinking about buying a broadband adapter for my dreamcast to play this game and found this freaking awesome.
@imherelol
Stermy doesn't use accel.
And it's easy to tell if someone uses accel by their movement and aiming
I've rarely seen so nice strafe jumping in a regular match.
4:15
Sweet Jesus, that was a very nice shot.
it's amazing how little killing and dying actually happens. They are just so good at "defensive" playing and escaping when their health is low.
my dad was a competitive gamer 4 quake he showed me the game when i was 5 now im 11 and still playing:)
Holy shit those rails are insane.
what is the point changing weapon for gauntlet all the time??
@champayne17 You know you're dedicated if you think these settings are pretty high.
@ThaRommer It's called "bridge to rail", UA-cam it. ;]
@levymetal me too. that part was great.
How do you do the strafe jump thing?.
Why do alot of pros switch to gauntlet? whats the advantage from that?
nothings better than good ol' RJ
4:17 insanity.. can't believe he got that kill
@jmarko313 dude i added 1.6 at the end to incorporate counter strike into it XD it was a joke
@zoanns are you trolling yourself or something?
Stermy was holding back on the rail and was trying to play with other weapons until this guy gave up.Only then did he started to play :)
ive got a account but when i clickm on play online then click on a free for all it goes onbto the page then goes back im on google chrome by the way and ive tried the mozilla firefox pls help
my q3dm6 map looks sooo white on quakelive its difficult to see anything
honestly i wouldve raged after the 4th semi impossible rail at the verge of dying
someone give me a link to download QUAKE 3: ARENA FULL!!!!!! please i can only find the demo :(
quake live is quake 3 in a browser, with a good UI, friends list, etc
God Damn the frag at 3:12 is RIDICULOUS :rofl:
I'd add Avek to that list. Although he's kind of a douch like 90% of Poles, but still.
@Kantoz stermy is famous for his crazy rail play. He is a beast.
@Ragna101 and for the record i'm strictly speaking in terms of competitive play, obviously. i wouldn't think it necessary to point out something so obvious but i understand you have a thick skull.
what fov is this
gg :)
Stermys LG and rail are ridiculous. I have never seen anyone on par with that.
@rafla2 his LG is pretty crazy too
3:11
AWESOME.
I don't always get to maximum speed cause I usually run into something, person, wall, rocket =D. I find bunny hopping in quake 3 anything but challenging. Mainly because its so hard in CS.
Stermy straight up owns.
@eltotoX Ya, haha so true. HOLY SHIT, TEXTURES! Low-quality configs ftw.
absolutely. in general, if you need to rely on sick aim in order to not get killed, you are doing something wrong. this is also what cooller critized on strenx. in the end, aim depends on what kind of day you're having and is an unreliability. map knowledge, positioning, item&risk management isn't.
but as you said, maybe he wasn't fully on here.
purely impressive...
@graficware low ping too xD or btw no differences with your enemies
Must be harder to do in CS cause I'm new to quake and I've been been strafe jumping like a pro.
Once Stermy got into a rhythm it was all over.
Because Q4 has crouch sliding and ramp jumping.
3:00 lol.
when i'm in the QL
i wanna be the quaker like one of them
Basically just told Weird to get to bed.
lol 3:18 Weird got stressed out by Stermy's rail frag
"omfg" lmao
railgun skillz!
Epic gameplay!!!!!
stermy´s accuracy: 150%
great play.. lol i wish i can play like him.. haha
@JackJackKcajify
rly?
Wonder what poor Weird's ping was.
I've played with the guy and he always pinged terribly to servers I was on. There's spots with LG where I know ping 30 or 60 would have killed anyone, but apparently stermy lives with 60 health going down to 20 instead of dying.
It's hilarious too, because stermy's first 2 frags come from ridiculous rails, (but I guess he only shoots ridiculous shots, eh?), gets some conversion, and then backs off for the last like 5 minutes.
Some slight difference in movement and weapon damage (nothing all that noticeable unless you're a pro), more gamemodes, friends list.
Thist quake live here good.
stermy can kick serious ass when he gets hot as he demonstrated here.......
am i the only one who thinks this dudes aim is kinda snappy
@Dominus357 This is not correct. You have no idea what "camping" is. It is not possible to camp in a duel game, it's only possible attack or defend. Fighting over armors is precisely what makes duel the hardest game to play. In fact, fighting over armors is precisely where Quake and other 1v1 fps games become meaningful.
this looks alot like unreal
this makes me want to play counter-strike but all the fucking servers are 24/7 dust 2
Woogie Boogie Baby! WOOGIE BOOGIE!!! XD
@Cheesebla Let me just tell you something. I've been playing Counter Strike for 9 years, I've been to many tournaments and scrimmed for longer than you will probably ever scrim. rocket at 2-50 wtf?
mad skillz
You know you're dedicated if you run QUAKE 3 ARENA on lowest settings. Damn.
03:13 if you actually want to see it :)
Stermy is not really known for disrespecting his opponent though, so I doubt that.
me: omfg
weird: omfg
"Quake live" is a game O_O... It didn't mean it's a live stream... O_O
@jmarko313 quake fortress live 1.6
Stermy's LG is ridiculous...
gg
lol! good defrag i must say
"omfg"
sometimes plasma gun is the game chancer
u forgot about all the tactics and very important too.. timing :DD
this video mmmm + or - but great play.
@RainboColour

Stermy is heartless
omfg!
Quake Live -> Practice, its there :) Other than that check out youtube tutorials. Strafe jump is average to learn, hard to master.
@hazmat151 lol.
ET was good, but it could never be as competitive as CS or Quake because it obviously required less skill.
I have played CS for many years. I have started quake in the last month. My aim has gone to the next level because the skill level regarding aiming and shooting is higher in Quake. Sorry.
@camploismyalias/comparing which game harder is stupid, they are all equally hard because game condotion for all competitors are same. who can drink water faster is same.
fov 120
@camploismyalias I view quake and cs like halo and call of duty. I suppose thats not good.
haha, why do you say this is live :))
IMO CS is harder to hop, but still ;)
tbh you shouldn't compair quake and cs it's like compairing chess and poker, yes both require stratagy and such but the gameplay is very different.
@VoiXer Increase performance
