The fact that she can literally sing however she wants and yet her speaking voice has nothing to do with how she sings amazes me, she deserved all the appreciaion she could get

I remember being obsessed with this video and lana in general when I was younger. Like I thought it was the most beautiful thing ever but I couldn't understand how something so beautiful could seem so sad.. she's so good
I feel so compelled to write something even though and I know it will drown in other comments of admiration, as it should. I never thought a contemporary artist could evoke such feelings as she does. She makes me die inside aswell as heal inside. Even though she will never see this, thank you Lana. Your music has in times of my darkest despair been lifesaving.
Laura Meirelles We rarely do, you have to admit that. If you see videos of artists performing in Europe and then in the USA, you will sure find huge differences of the audience. The one is not better than the other ;)
People don't get that music has been so saturated with auto tune that when something genuine comes along its immediately criticized. This is what Genuine music looks like. Humans will never get a note perfect but near perfection is just enough. And the natural music will feel more genuine and add character.
What the fuck? She's already one of the best vocalists in the industry. She doesn't need 10 years. An artist has true soul in their music not perfect melodies or notes...look at the way she sings this song...that's all that matters. I fucking you love Lana, thank you for getting me through all my dark and tumultuous items
I didn't know her till today. I'm swepped away....Never had that feeling anymore since I heard Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust". What a privilege to be there listening live....
Imperfect and perfect. Cued this up for the beginning of a long drive… Basically played it over and over for the whole drive.. Hardest part was to keep from picking up the phone and watching her sing it..that’s half the vibe
She is such a sweetheart. Honestly, I'm in love with her music, but she's an absolutely beautiful person inside and out. She loves her fans so much, she has such a beautiful soul.
i can't believe people are critiquing her voice, she sounds amazing. her facial expressions make this an emotional experience, and the music sounds incredible.
Am I the only one that finds a haunting connection between Lana, the song and that serious/sad looking blonde guy in the audience, it makes this weird connection in my brain.
you want to know why Lana is popular now? yea she doesn't have the best vocals but at least she's believable like when she sings you can hear her pain and people can relate to her
sasha gayevskaya agreed! u dont have to be able to do vocal acrobatics to reach into people's souls, and thats what she does. she relates to the human soul and nature, whereas most of today's artists can only sing about the superficial and shallow.
The best proof of you said is the fact that, even whit the bad criticism she get from her performance at SNL , which I don't agree whit, she got success after....
I think I've put my finger on why Lana Del Rey is so different and hard to get used to in concert. She doesn't put herself above the audience figuratively speaking. Look at Beyonce or whatever, they're in positions of power, they come out on stage like they own the world. Lana is kind of gutter trash. And it's beautiful. That's why her 'stage' presence in flashy shows doesn't work for me. She's got such an intimate thing. You feel close to her. She's right there with you, maybe even lower than you. In all the lights and distance of the more high end shows you lose touch with her because something like Lana has to be felt and absorbed, not just witnessed, certainly not idolized. I adore her for that. She's get's in there like a bee sting, but only if you're there with her. Okay, I'm done now.
Kind of like a homeless woman/man on the streets begging for food. They express all their emotions and weaknesses for the dollar bill, intimate, or a stripper at a dive club exposing herself to the world. It has go be felt and seen in person, because shes there.... unlike a star who doesnt see you.
Lana Del Rey also has songs about sex??? I love both her and Beyoncé even though they are such different singers. Beyoncé is powerful in the sense that she dominated her field and has a lot of confidence in her signing. However Lana is powerful in how vulnerable she can make you feel. I don't think that women singing about sex makes them a worse artist than their counterparts anyways
That is so true. The first time I saw a live performance of her I just thought That she was just like a regular girl there, her presence, the way she stands, her cute shame for being there, even the way she dresses and holds the microphone, when she looks at the audience... It feels like she's like everyone else there, just enjoying the song.
I wonder why some people say she can't sing. she sings pretty well to me... That SNL performance was just one thing, it's pretty hard to start with the right tune.
Man, I always find myself coming back to these videos instead of listening to the actual track. There’s something so… peaceful about watching her sing live. A different vibe. It gives me chills every time.
Look at her, pure talent and emotion. While Sharon Den Adel, powerful metal vocalist and Lana fan looks on in amazement. The atmosphere must have been magical.
My favorite part about this performance besides Lizzy, is watching the host on the couch completely entranced by Lanas raw emotions pouring all over that stage like a glitter bomb just exploded.
Every time I see her in a more vulnerable setting, like preforming without tons of screaming fans or just out by herself on the town, I can see this raw and open quality about her that is so very human. There are time when she is not happy, and there is a deep discontent inside of her. Truly a beautiful woman, a great voice for this generation and the emotions it holds.
Not technically but something about this performance hits so deep I'm not even a lana del rey fan but i still love this performance from the bottom of my heart

Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble,
But I, I've got a war in my mind
So, I just ride, just ride,
I just ride, just ride
Dying young and I'm playing hard
That's the way my father made his life an art
Drink all day and we talk 'til dark
That's the way the road dogs do it: ride 'til dark.
Don't leave me now
Don't say good-bye
Don't turn around
Leave me high and dry
I hear the birds on the summer breeze,
I drive fast, I am alone in midnight
Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble,
But I, I've got a war in my mind
I just ride, just ride,
I just ride, just ride
I'm tired of feeling like I'm fucking crazy
I'm tired of driving 'til I see stars in my eyes
All I've got to keep myself sane, baby
So I just ride, I just ride
I hear the birds on the summer breeze,

***** We do clap in Europe. What are you talking about? ahahah
we clap during the performance as well.
She's brillant ♥
Laura Meirelles
We rarely do, you have to admit that.
I have no fucking idea how, but one day I will marry this woman
@Ester Nesief haha yeah
Creepy
Me too
were the same i want to marry her too im gay for her
What the fuck? She's already one of the best vocalists in the industry. She doesn't need 10 years. An artist has true soul in their music not perfect melodies or notes...look at the way she sings this song...that's all that matters. I fucking you love Lana, thank you for getting me through all my dark and tumultuous items
One of her best performance in my opinion
Well, i share that opinion with you!
I burst into tears every time I hear this song... gets me every time
I didn't know her till today. I'm swepped away....Never had that feeling anymore since I heard Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust". What a privilege to be there listening live....
I love everything about the way she performs this song
Me too
probably one of the best live performance by her
+Xaviana B agree
You should hear her live "video games" on American idol or her "blue jeans" on 98.7. Gold!!
+apeiceofmoldedclay thabnk u!!!!!
+Xaviana B what about Letterman
you should listen to million dollar man live it's really good too (itunes festival)
Imperfect and perfect.
Cued this up for the beginning of a long drive…
Basically played it over and over for the whole drive..
Hardest part was to keep from picking up the phone and watching her sing it..that’s half the vibe
No one seems to know but in the audience we have Sharon Den Adel, one of greatest voices of metal. And she is astonished and amazed.
Yes hahaha
Yeah, one of the queens of symphonic metal 🤘🏻❤
She does like singers used to do. No fancy shit. Just sing. Simply stand up and sing from your heart. And it sounds amazing.
She is such a sweetheart. Honestly, I'm in love with her music, but she's an absolutely beautiful person inside and out. She loves her fans so much, she has such a beautiful soul.
agreed! she's so humble
i can't believe people are critiquing her voice, she sounds amazing. her facial expressions make this an emotional experience, and the music sounds incredible.
She's majestic here
Am I the only one that finds a haunting connection between Lana, the song and that serious/sad looking blonde guy in the audience, it makes this weird connection in my brain.
He looks like he doesn't want to be there lol. He's hot though
Chris Jimenez he sure is
Cherry Chanel lol I'm only looking at him cause he is hot.
+Cherry Chanel yes! thank you! I was just about to say that the guy behind her represents that kind of nostalgic sadness I feel when I listen to Lana
melnjada2 I know lol, I mean it's such pretty weird timing... but in a good way.
She has like this gorgeous mermaid voice. 😭
By the time you get to the end, you realize you've seen something quite special and magical.
I've always had such a deep connection with this song, but this video never fails to make me tear up. I love you Lana.
same here
+Ciara Nicola same here
you want to know why Lana is popular now? yea she doesn't have the best vocals but at least she's believable like when she sings you can hear her pain and people can relate to her
I think she has one of the best voices, it's unique and different..
sasha gayevskaya agreed! u dont have to be able to do vocal acrobatics to reach into people's souls, and thats what she does. she relates to the human soul and nature, whereas most of today's artists can only sing about the superficial and shallow.
alana volskaya exactly imperfect is perfect
you are both so right :) I agree with you
The best proof of you said is the fact that, even whit the bad criticism she get from her performance at SNL , which I don't agree whit, she got success after....
This is pretty special. Timeless.
Her vocals is amazing
The world stopped to listen to her sing!
best commentary ever
Jo Thomas hope one day the world will read this. that's why I love her and why people don't understand her.
Can't tell if you're praising or shading her..
2:39 look at lanas smile so pretty
She is authentically talented
Unique
Beyond beautiful
Heart wrenching
That broken smile at 03:35 ..
I noticed it to
I seen it before....
On Marilyn Monroe
Oh Lawd LINK IT
She knew it wasn't a great performance.
Oh Lawd so have I
I wonder why some people say she can't sing. she sings pretty well to me... That SNL performance was just one thing, it's pretty hard to start with the right tune.
she suffrs from stage fright so her voice starts breaking and shivering live (sometimes only) and people mistake that for lack of talent
+i dunno don't we all get stage fright tho?
zoe allen We do, but like different intensities... and in her case, she's also in live TV.
Karl Lubangas her voice just sounds like a tween at SOME parts. I like her voice, but can understand why others don't.
50,513 people (99.98%) liked the video. There will be 0.02% of the population who say anything crazy. No need to waste time thinking about them.
PQP QUE MÚSICA, QUE MULHER QUE VOZ DEUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Amooooo vdd+, maravilhosa 👏🥰
This never get old
That broken smile at the end :(
Man, I always find myself coming back to these videos instead of listening to the actual track. There’s something so… peaceful about watching her sing live. A different vibe. It gives me chills every time.
Thats big true. Lana excels live 🤩
Same. This version is just perfection
@@millenium_underground3391 Can confirm, four years later.
Look at her, pure talent and emotion. While Sharon Den Adel, powerful metal vocalist and Lana fan looks on in amazement. The atmosphere must have been magical.
This was completely amazing and breathtaking
My favorite part about this performance besides Lizzy, is watching the host on the couch completely entranced by Lanas raw emotions pouring all over that stage like a glitter bomb just exploded.
Exactly. Thank you for this comment!
ENTRANCED?! 🤣 the guy on the couch was CLEARLY making a face.
Love your poetic description!
Your comment is everything and I am dead in a good way
Absolutely, you've nailed it.A great artist and a magnificent woman
I gotta say the biggest lie here is that this is HD.
This video gains 1m views every time I come back
school bus guru right!? I was like no way did this have 9million last time I watched this lol.
BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE IN ENTIRE MUSIC HISTORY FOREVER
Are you fucking joking?
lol you need to stop writing hate comments on every lana del rey video and move on girl. I think you jelly.
k you know what. I think you need to get laid. dont worry I would still do you even if you are uglly.
Not technically but something about this performance hits so deep
I'm not even a lana del rey fan but i still love this performance from the bottom of my heart
