Hey man, thanks for posting. My family is looking to move to Florida in the near future so I'm scanning your videos. Out of curiosity what type of music do you play? Ive been gigging as a guitar/singer in different genres for around 16 years so I got distracted by the gear in the background and had to remind myself I was here for Florida. Lol
Hey, you're welcome, thanks for watching the videos! Glad you are finding them helpful 😊I play hard rock / metal. My favorite band is Metallica since I was 7 years old! So I play a lot of their stuff, also Motely Crue, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and some other randoms. I actually played in this video here: ua-cam.com/video/AhV5UkrI-LM/v-deo.html in case you want to check it out. I play my own made up riffs in that. You are one of only a few who have mentioned it so far 🤟 Where are you moving to in Florida?
@@MichaelBordenaro We haven't decided on the where yet but my wife is originally from the Fort Walton and she wants to move back. Currently we live in Georgia but as soon as I graduate next semester then we are going to begin selling our house and looking into finding a place. She really wants to get close to the Gulf. She is in Veterinary so it's pretty easy for her to find work. I liked the music and I just subscribed to your channel. I played metal for years doing same stuff. Here is a link to a Chains song I did vocals (main and harmonies) and guitar on awhile back. ua-cam.com/video/-RSxlkqH1Cs/v-deo.html
@@vidtalberry4thewin That is a great plan, definitely give FL a try and it sounds like your wife will be happy to be back! BTW, nice Alice cover! Sounds pretty good man!
Born and raised in Orlando. Warning to all of you who see the "cost of living" as cheaper. It may look that way BUT the average wage/income here is abysmal. Most people assume they'll make the same wage but pay less for housing, food, etc. Not true. If you're moving here to work, words of caution: the same jobs paying you 140K up north will pay you 50K here.
That’s so true that’s what I been saying and I just left Orlando a few months ago and the rent is getting high also you pay tolls on the highway in Southern California we don’t pay any tolls light and water is cheaper and so is car insurance
I've always had my eyes on two states, Texas and Florida. Texas because the tech companies are migrating there (Computer Science major) and Florida.. well because it's nice there and my field is transferring over to remotely so now I don't really have to worry about moving to whatever state.
It sounds like you and your significant other know how to be frugal and that's admirable. To be honest, I waited tables for many years in college and even now if my husband and myself get subpar service or food we rarely complain and we always tip very well because we're all human and have bad days. Take care.
Yes we’re pretty good at that. However we’ve both worked at restaurants before my wife is more like you. But I don’t believe in tipping for terrible service because to me that’s rewarding a bad behavior. But I always Tip extra when the service is great👌
I loved Florida for 25 years but population exploded in Clearwater area and rents pushed up to $1,500 for a one bedroom and require you make 3 times more than rent. Average wage is $9 hour so it takes 3 people to rent a one bedroom. Terrible public transportation and slow bumper to bumper traffic. No longer for the average person or retirees
Yes the situation is very sad. And unfortunately, it's not a problem only in Florida. All over the country has a large wage versus cost of living gaps. But in a place like Clearwater or Miami etc. it is amplified and even more noticeable

I lived in Florida for 10 years. I hated it due to the bugs and humidity. It was awful. I now live in CA and I have to say, I don't like how expensive it is. Florida might be more affordable but it is sweltering HOT & HUMID in the spring, summer and fall.
Glad I found this channel 💕 I’m not even planning to move . ☺️ I was just checking out where west Florida is . My friend moved from the Miami area to somewhere west . Anyway I subscribed because your videos are calm and informative and beautiful . Florida is beautiful . 💕🌴
@@MichaelBordenaro I just informed my husband that we are going in a vacation to St Augustine. I’ll check out your channel more to see when not to go . I referring to hurricane season . Can you update this video. Inflation and housing market conditions certainly changed these prices. Would be interesting to see the difference over the past two years
A heads up on real estate taxes. When you look at Zillow and see a low amount paid by the current owner, that may be the homestead rate over many years (FL law doesn't allow more than a 3% increase annually). When you purchase the property, you will pay the millage rate on the current value of the home which could be significantly higher. Michael is spot on regarding HOA fees. It's like paying rent forever even though you've paid off your mortgage. The special assessments, which are in addition to the regular fees, can be tens of thousands per household.
That is exactly right Michael regarding RE taxes. I always calculate what I think my current rate will be when looking at any potential investments, good advice👌. And those HOA's can put you under if you're not careful!
I clicked when I saw your hair! Stayed for the subject. I lived in South Beach at the tail end of its Renaissance in the mid to late '90's. It was a fabulous time. It was still bohemian , yet chic. Fashion shoots on the beach, well known celebs mingled with locals. It attracted the artsy and the beautiful. Then Will Smith made that song and killed it! All the people that made it fabulous were made unsafe and pushed out. Big chain stores, condos and the wrong element started hanging around. Still has its allure though it lost its reputation.
Haha that is awesome 🤟😄Sounds like you were one of the lucky ones that got to enjoy the good old days of MB. It still like it here, but it is a rapidly changing place.
I have done my homework. I am moving to central Florida, anywhere near water is high gas he’ll. Secondly a modest neighborhood is best. I have looked a numerous 55 and sites outside the Villages of Florida, those home are very reasonable.. I will agree with you on HOA and grounds fees depending on which one you pick. Now you seem to cater to folks who made 200k a year.
That is one of the best things about this state. There are places to live at all price points here. Everything a go over in the video is just an example. It's good you did your homework and it sounds like you know what you want to get out of Florida. Good luck on your move!
@ Frank Wood, Something to remember: the closer to the water, the more expensive the property. AND...Florida, being a peninsula means you are almost always less than 90 minutes away from a beach.
We live in NJ and legit same! Mike said $1800 a year for car insurance was high. We’re WOWED by it since we’re paying $4600 a year with the best insurance you can get in NJ.😂
@@jessii_d Try Metromile! I used to have progressive and geico, was paying $400 a month, then switched to Metromile, now only $150! (I also drive so much less now, but it's at least half the cost!)
Glad to be moving to Florida after college. Here in Nebraska, registering your new car is close to 1,200 a year. Plus we have the highest taxes and the pay just doesn't match it!
Wow it is surprising how many comments I have seen about car registration and insurance being significantly higher in other states. Makes IL where I'm from look dirt cheap!
I am a vet who currently lives and owns a beachfront home in Costa Rica. I am considering purchasing a vacation home in Naples. I can use my numerous veteran benefits in Florida, which unfortunately I cannot use in Costa Rica. Thanks for the insights into Florida costs.
Considering Florida for my next place to live. I've been forced to leave San Diego. The cost of living here is outrageous. As of December 10, 2020, I pay $3K per month for my condo/apartment. Gas is currently over $3 per gallon most places as well. Don't get me started on the politics and gun laws in CA. Can't wait to leave and start a new life in FL. Thanks for the video :)
I'm sad to hear that because I do love California and it is disheartening to hear what is happening there. So many people are doing the same. If you do move to FL, then I'm glad my videos can be of help to you 😊
@@eddiesalas423 I have a 12 month plan to get out of CA. I'll be visiting a few areas in FL to decide what I like best. Wow, since I last wrote that comment, gas is now over $4/gal.
I’m in the same boat Donnie. I’m just outside of Boston & can’t stand the climate- politically or weather wise. I was never a winter guy & never was a blue state guy. My neighbourhood was nice when I was growing up, but has become a total ghetto since the new millennium and gets worse every year. Cost of living here is outrageous too.
Michael thank you so much for making this video it was very informative. I always wanted to buy a condo but my family would always suggest that I should buy a house. Now that you have mentioned the additional fees that a condo requires I have made my final decision. I now want to buy a house. :) Thank you once again. You are the best!
The rent prices are going up in South Florida. I’ve been looking for months for a place. I’m coming from New York. I don’t want to spend New York money. I don’t want to work to just pay the rent like you said 😩
I was paying $2.65 cheapest in Silicon Valley California in St Augustine I’m paying $1.91 for car insurance I paid $150 a month for a 2005 Toyota Corolla and in Florida I’m paying $80 a month for the same car. A lot of people in California and Florida are visiting or new to the state but both have terrible drivers wherever they’re from. At least Florida doesn’t have Los Angeles and San Francisco traffic. But coin laundry prices are the same for San Francisco and St Augustine which is crazy to me. Really the biggest difference is housing costs of $3000-6,000 a month in San Francisco vs $1,000 or less in St Augustine {renting} Sales tax in San Francisco is 10% and there’s a state income tax in California
You are an encyclopedia. I am looking to move to FL from NJ in about say within a year. would LOVE to get more tips and suggestions from you. This video is amazing.
Haha thanks! Glad you are enjoying the content. I do offer one on one consulting calls if you ever want to do done one. The link is here michaelbordenaro.com/book-service/
To afford a one bedroom apartment in Central Florida you need to make $25/hr. Most jobs pay whatever the minimum required by law so that’s currently under $15
We live in highlands county between two lakes. Bought our house for $70,000 two years ago. Small, but living within our means. Like you said, depends on location.
$1,185 annually for auto insurance is nothinggg haha I pay $467 a MONTH here in NY. Great video though! Very informative for people who are trying to move to FL like me
I retired in ft Lauderdale from southeast Louisiana. My monthly expenses are 3k keep in mind my home is free and clear and I have no dept. Yes, it's expensive. North Florida is cheaper. My HOA fee alone is $455 per months.
You should try living here in Canada. Housing prices are through the roof. A decent house costs you ~$600,000 USD. Not to mention taxes are super high, close to 15%(!) Florida is dirt cheap to us Canadians. Enjoy it while you can!
Florida is too damn HOT, and the houses are really low to the ground, someone told me it was because they get a lot of hurricanes, other than that I like it better than New York.....I can’t wait to get out of here...
Very comprehensive. I passed along the phone info to my son. I was part of the opening crew for the first Houston's restaurant in Nashville in 1977! I used to make their recipes and they were quite tasty!
Thanks for passing it along! I love Houstons, and is probably the restaurant I miss the most after everything being closed all this time👌 Thanks for helping make it as good as it is😀
@@MichaelBordenaro you're welcome! that was a long time ago but I still remember how to do a lot of them. I'm strongly considering buying a condo on Okaloosa Island but worry I can't stand the year round heat even though I'm a Tennessee gal. I hate TN summers but love the beach!
Dude, I bet the rectifier sounds sweet with good sustain, I would not even use any pedals with that rig. I have a single slab clear Mahogany Les Paul with sweet sounding P-90's in it. Cheers bro.
I love the recitfier! And it really is a versatile amp. Sustain is great, and reproduces such a natural sound. I do have to use my Boss OD with it, to really push the amp where I like it, but its definitely not a requirement. Les paul has been on my want list since I started playing! That is a real nice guitar you got there too!
Well, I don't think it is that bad. I currently live in Brooklyn, NY and it seems like everything is cheap in Florida. I will definitely move in the near future.
Keep in mind jobs pay maybe 25% of New York does. To afford a one bedroom apartment in central Florida wages signs have to almost double the current rate.
I grew up surfing in Santa Cruz, CA. I hate the cold so much. My favorite place I ever lived was Honolulu, HI. Spent 6 weeks in Costa Rica on a surf trip with my buddies and almost didn't get back on the plane to go home. I'm now entering the software developer profession and I'm heavily thinking about florida... But I'm a big outdoors guy. Are the mosquitoes going to descend on me every time I go for a hike, job, bike ride, etc? I have sensitive skin that hates any chemicals being put on it. My doctor told me a humid temperate climate would be best for my skin condition. I would never move to Florida without moving to the beach. Thinking about Dunedin/Tampa are because of what I read. Spent 2 weeks in Florida surfing as a teenager, but I am sure a lot has changed in 20 years.
I wouldn't worry too much about the mosquitoes if you're going to live near the beach. The closer to the beach you are the less mosquitoes we have because mosquitoes only breed in freshwater. But if you live in an area surrounded by a lot of freshwater ponds are standing water it could be an issue. I would say definitely come back and visit for a few weeks especially in the summer when it's the hottest and most humid and the mosquitoes are at its worst to get a feel for what living here would be like 👍

I know that Florida has one of the highest auto insurance premiums in the country. When I lived in Florida, I was paying $2,400 a year for full coverage, perfect driving record.
Reading people complain about the cost of car insurance in Florida made me giggle. I live in Boston and at one point my car insurance was $3600 a year for a Jeep that was 6 years old. 😭
That is crazy out of this world expensive. I have seen other people in the comments talking about how expensive it is in their states too! Coming from Illinois Florida is more expensive but it's still a bargain compared to all these places !

Wow! That is insanely expensive! The prices here can vary quite a bit like I show in the video, but nothing like that. But I think these stations that charge over $4 a gallon are just trying to take advantage of people that don't know any better. But I'm definitely not complaining after hearing this!
@Teddy James That's a pretty big difference. Although, I can see differences like that here just in my same town. Don't know how some gas stations can get away with charging so much. But like our British friend said above, that is still super cheap compared to over there.

I’ve heard home insurance rates are high and to avoid “flood zones” any truth to that? Trying to escape California and make a decision between TX & FL to move to
Yes there is some truth to that. When you finance a house, you will automatically need homeowners insurance. But if the property is in a flood zone, you will also need flood insurance, which can be pretty costly depending on the location / risk
In florida my insurance was 175 a month the cheapest I got it down to was 118 a month full coverage but in california I pay $66 full coverage the gas in orlando was 2.22 the gas here is 2.79 the cheapest i found which i drive like a few miles to fill up but the norm here is 3.39 - 4.00
Yeah the insurance here in FL is pretty high. But I saw some people in the comments saying places like VA and MA are way more expensive than FL, crazy. It nice to know that some things are still reasonably priced in CA 😀
@@MichaelBordenaro now the gas dropped to $2.49 and there two gas stations on that corner. That compete lol I like taking my little five mile drive that way to fill up too but yeah your right we can still find reasonable things out here 🙏🏽
Just found your channel. Live in FL for 15 years now but only in SE FL. Still discovering new place so looking to others for suggestions. I,m looking to relocate once I’m eligible for 55+ communities; only way I can afford to live or rent in really desirable and prime areas without paying through the nose. FYI for those looking to relocate and afraid of high price of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale area there are really low cost condos in decent neighborhoods. That’s where I first relocated to but over time moved farther up north because of higher rents and price out of area. I recently bought Condo under $100k with ~250/mo HOA in nice community with security patrol, tennis court, club house, etc. much cheaper than renting. Due to low cost of my housing, I’m saving a lot each year over renting toward my next purchase in 55+ place. When I sell this place and due to my accelerated savings living in this low cost condo, I should be able to move to Delray area and pay for it in full in a few years. Then I only have to worry about HOA and insurance for housing so I can reduce my hours and transition to semi retirement sooner.
This is a true success story if you ask me. Someone who worked hard, bought a condo here, not rented, and was able to save enough money to actually move up to something nicer. That is amazing, and good for you!!
Wow Michael. That's a high water bill. When you pay for water you must be thrifty. My base water bill in Hillsborough county Riverview is 28.00. When here it goes to about about 36.00. It's only me in a 1375sq FT townhome. Planning to move down permanently later this year. My HOA is 112.67 a month which includes grounds, roads, pool. As far as auto insurance, get a quote from Geico. They are always have the best rates. I am registered in NY. I own a Pontiac g6 yt? Coupe and pay about 325.00 every 6 months. Let's see when I move Dow. Thx again
Yep that water bill is extremely high. After research, I ended up finding out that West Palm Beach has some of the highest water bills in all of South Florida. The city is even being investigated because of this. That sounds like a very low HOA, that is great! I have tried Geico before for auto insurance but they are consistently higher than progressive for me every time I get a quote from them. Not sure why I guess it's because I've been with progressive for such a long time now. Good luck making Florida your permanent home !!
Liberty Mutual in NJ 2012 Honda Pilot and a 2012 Dodge Advenger: full coverage tort limit threshold: 1 year policy:$3300.00+. No accidents no tickets fair credit rating.
Michael Bordenaro It is. The state is allowed to use your credit rating to set their prices which is complete bullsh*t. If you have chargeable accident it stays on your record 3 years which the insurance company will surcharge you for, even if you switch to another company, one that didn’t pay out on a claim. Someone in another comment implied that Florida had the highest rates. Nope that dubious distinction goes to New Jersey. That’s why so many people drive without insurance, not because of compliance but because they can’t afford it. FYI I have a spotless record. Looking forward to moving to Florida in the next year. Clearwater/St. Petersburg area.
@@Ndiver81 Yeah, that really is insane! I think someone else was saying in Virginia was also pretty crazy, but credit should have NOTHING to do with your insurance. That should only be based on your driving, what a scam... Great choice for moving here, I like that area a lot!
Michael Bordenaro I totally agree. The National Insurance Board didi the study that states that people with lower credit rating have more accidents. They are the same people who work for the insurance companies. Kinda like catching a thief stealing your stuff, then going to court and the court asking the thief if they were stealing, the thief says no and it’s dismissed. Complete bullshit but what can you do? Can’t drive without insurance.
Good question Lui, after visiting there again a few months ago, I'm not so sure I would want to live there anymore, due to how much the cost of housing has risen since this video was made. Also, St. Augustine is a pretty small town, and a LOT of people are moving there, so I think you can imagine where I'm going with that...It is still beautiful, and the people there are nice, and the beaches are also fantastic. Going out for a nice dinner won't cost you a fortune, and I like its proximity to other states.

Thanks for the video! I just have a quick question. Did you start your career as a realtor there? How was it? I’m planning on moving to Florida and pursuing a careering in real estate.
Glad you like the video! Yes, I started in real estate down here in FL when I was 21. It is a pretty tough career, at least here in FL anyway because EVERYONE is a realtor, so competition is high, and now days, client loyalty is out the window.
Hey. I just heard you say you lived in Illinois. Im in Chicago and really wanna moved to Florida. Is there really a huge cost of living difference between the two places? We both know Illinois can be very expensive. I dont have to live in the BEST area in Florida but i dont wanna live it the WORST part either. Just like in Chicago. Any advice? Thanks in advance. Great video btw
Nice to meet an old neighbor! Chicago is pretty expensive, so you should be able to afford to live almost anywhere in FL, as it will be similar or possibly less than Chicago. I live in Miami Beach, and this is one of the most expensive areas in FL and prices are similar to living in Chicago. But you can go to Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, jacksonsville, orlando etc and it will cost less👌

Florida still cheaper than AZ. I pay $1700 for car insurance 2014 Camry and liability for the 2000 truck. Yearly car registration $200 more a year. water , AC expensive. basic cable internet landline is $187 a month. not only that we have state tax and if you live outside maricopa county additional charge for rural metro $400 a year. sales tax it vary 6 to 7% maybe 8% some areas. the only thing is we have jobs not difficult to find a job even if your out of state. I think Florida is a lot to offer more things to do and allergy friendly. if you have allergy Arizona is not the best. We also have problem with scorpions inside and outside the house so monthly service pest control is necessary during summer and every other month in the winter. Do you know more about fort myer area? Looking forward for more of your video.
Oh wow, that does sound expensive for all of those things! Ft. Meyers is cool, it is a more laid back area, but they do have nice beaches and I look forward to going there for a future video😊 Thanks for watching!
Thinking of moving to the Saint Augustine area but also really looking at Palm Coast. Any thoughts on Palm Coast? Also what would the commute be like to Jacksonville from Palm Coast? Brutal with traffic?
Yes, Palm Coast seems to be a very nice area also. However, if you are working in Jacksonville, personally I think its too far to commute every day. Even right now with no traffic, its over 1 hour drive. Once things are back to normal and you're dealing with rush hour, you can probably easily bump that up an extra half hour. I would be looking closer like St Augustine or actually in Jacksonville if I were you. But that is my opinion, because I don't like commuting 👌
Michael Bordenaro thank you so much for your honest response. We are planning on taking a vacation down there to check things out! Have friends in Jacksonville, Palm Coast and Trinity on the west coast

Palm Coast is an hour drive to Jax, a long drive especially during rush hour of if there’s an accident on I-95. Also Palm Coast is still very much an old folks community, lots of seniors there. North St Johns County is probably a better choice.
I'm keeping a close eye on it Charles and I'll be making a video towards the end of this month to see how the collapse has impacted the market if at all. It's still too soon to tell.
Great video. Just subscribed. What do you think of the Ocala area? I know it is cheaper to buy or rent there, but what do you think of it as a place to retire? We are young at heart....I play guitar too! Any advice would be great. We have modest means, but want to leave expensive Southern California. We think Ocala might be a good place to rent while we look around for our forever home as it seems to be central and we could check out towards each coast from there also. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot Michael.
Thank you! Ocala is a great spot to retire and it is common for people to do so. It's even easy to stay active there since you said you are young at heart.Coming from Southern California I would imagine Ocala will look extremely inexpensive to you. And like you said it's easy to get around and visit other areas from there. I would say go for it ! And nice to meet a fellow guitar player!

Can you answer this? Say we put down 100-150 K on a house but still owed 200 K... with a 20 yr mortgage.. in Florida. What would you roughly put the monthly mortgage cost at? Give or take $500 for additional HOA fees ( do people get to chose 10,20, or 30 yr mortgage there? I imagine yes but I really don’t know) Thanks 😊
Im guessing you meant 30 year mortgage. In that case it would be about $1260/mo before any HOA fees, and yes you can get a 15 year and 30 year mortgage. They have 5/1 ARM too, but I don't recommend!
Yeah I heard about the car registration doubling, but insurance is still more here in FL. But I have no regrets being here, regardless of any additional expenses 👌
All is great and informative, loved the video. But you haven’t mentioned anything about living there with a family with kids, daycare, school cost, etc :) would appreciate some insight thank you!
Hi thanks a lot! Yes I know havent touched on this in any of my videos and the reason is simple. I don't have any kids or real world experience with how much these things cost, and I like to make my videos in a matter of fact way, where I can speak from experience. So, I probably wont be able to make that one 😌
Omg 😱 Florida car insurance is outrageous!!! I have 7 vehicles in Ma. 2014, 2011, 2008, 2000, 1999, and 2 older motorcycles. Own them all and monthly bill is $350 Does it matter in Fla how good your driving record is? Is it that much to register older vehicles you own?
It can be pricey depending on where you live down here! My driving record was good too, it still went up by quite a bit when I moved here. I believe the registration costs the same for all vehicles, but if you own the vehicle the yearly sticker renewal will cost less
Hey Good morning Mike it's me Vinny again . I mentioned to you a short while back and mentioned how you look like an old Goomba of mine who's been living in the Dallas area? Well he was just here in my town I live in Albuquerque and he is a native born from here. Anyway he is in a transition of moving from Dallas and moving in retirement to Colorado a small community in the Southern part of Colorado near Wolfcreek . Anyway when he stops back in here ? Im showing him one of your video's and tell him ? You remind me? Of him when he was a better looking guy lol 😂😂😂 Anyway take care . I wish a lot of these cities across the country wasn't so blasted high in cost. I will though make a trip one day to Florida . Ciao. ✌😎

Lemme ask you a question. Booked a trip to Tampa area in 3 days. Have $14K with no job or much credit history but plan to work when I move. How difficult will it be to find a reasonable place? And what is max I should be renting?
To me, it sounds like you have a massive head start. When I moved here, I only had 2k and no job. I recently made a video about this exact topic, which you can check out here: ua-cam.com/video/GmZ3bwkRs0w/v-deo.html once you have a chance. But I think your odds are very good, depending on your monthly expenses and type of job you hope to get. And as far as rent goes, I would try to keep it under $1500/mo, which should be totally doable, and less if you can. I would be more focused on a getting a decent place near your work, after you find work. Hope this helps!
@John Simard Hi John, I'm in Austin TX and was thinking about buying a mobile in a 55+ park I've seen some mobile homes for pretty cheap 15-20 thousand which I could pay cash for, do you think that's doable??

Ive been gigging as a guitar/singer in different genres for around 16 years so I got distracted by the gear in the background and had to remind myself I was here for Florida. Lol
Hey, you're welcome, thanks for watching the videos! Glad you are finding them helpful 😊I play hard rock / metal. My favorite band is Metallica since I was 7 years old!
There is a lot of truth to this, and I think this is part of the reason Florida as a whole gets a bad rap over wages because of this issue in Orlando.
@@MichaelBordenaro well said! If people are able to overcome this, and the traffic (lol), I'm sure they'll enjoy all Central Florida has to offer.

I've always had my eyes on two states, Texas and Florida. Texas because the tech companies are migrating there (Computer Science major) and Florida.. well because it's nice there and my field is transferring over to remotely so now I don't really have to worry about moving to whatever state.
Choices, choices 😀
It sounds like you and your significant other know how to be frugal and that's admirable. To be honest, I waited tables for many years in college and even now if my husband and myself get subpar service or food we rarely complain and we always tip very well because we're all human and have bad days. Take care.
Yes we’re pretty good at that. However we’ve both worked at restaurants before my wife is more like you. But I don’t believe in tipping for terrible service because to me that’s rewarding a bad behavior. But I always Tip extra when the service is great👌
I love this channel, you ar e really claire went explain!! THanks a lot!!
Thank you very much Carol! Hope you enjoy the rest of my videos✌️
But in a place like Clearwater or Miami etc. it is amplified and even more noticeable
...they never tell you every one is from somewhere else ....so they do not know where that is...but they drive like they were back home...

Michael, great synopsis on cost of living in Florida. Well done video.
Thank you very much!
Can you update this video. Inflation and housing market conditions certainly changed these prices. Would be interesting to see the difference over the past two years
Yup
@ Frank Wood,
Something to remember: the closer to the water, the more expensive the property. AND...Florida, being a peninsula means you are almost always less than 90 minutes away from a beach.

I’m from Nashville and sales tax there or at least in the county I live in is 9.75%! So I was really surprised to see the lower sales tax in Florida.
Yep that is a nice discount coming to FL. It’s less in FL thank IL too where lm from
Yo that’s more than us in Cali! At least no income tax there
Wow Michael.
@@MichaelBordenaro Thanks Michael.
Liberty Mutual in NJ 2012 Honda Pilot and a 2012 Dodge Advenger: full coverage tort limit threshold: 1 year policy:$3300.00+. No accidents no tickets fair credit rating.
Wow that sounds like a huge ripoff!!
Bro is necessary to know Spanish in Miami ? I don’t know any Spanish ? Got job offer to work in USPS there , so already would have a job
No not really. It will help for sure, but you can get by without it. I don't speak spanish, been here 14 years.
Hey Michael , I watched your video of Saint Augustine just out of curiosity what are a few things that you really think would be great to live there
Good question Lui, after visiting there again a few months ago, I'm not so sure I would want to live there anymore, due to how much the cost of housing has risen since this video was made. Also, St. Augustine is a pretty small town, and a LOT of people are moving there, so I think you can imagine where I'm going with that...It is still beautiful, and the people there are nice, and the beaches are also fantastic. Going out for a nice dinner won't cost you a fortune, and I like its proximity to other states.

Hello, thanks for the video. I am just wondering how about storms that come every 2 year. What is the insurance on property damage is it expensive?
Thanks for the video! I just have a quick question. Did you start your career as a realtor there? How was it? I’m planning on moving to Florida and pursuing a careering in real estate.
Glad you like the video! Yes, I started in real estate down here in FL when I was 21. It is a pretty tough career, at least here in FL anyway because EVERYONE is a realtor, so competition is high, and now days, client loyalty is out the window.
hey, any video regarding commercial property, like starting small restaurant or maybe a food truck? rent , finding etc
I don't have a video like that at the moment. I'll have to research the topic and see if it's worth making a video about. Thanks for the suggestion

@@MichaelBordenaro hey..thanks..thats my biggest fear. My wife and I was planning on coming down there for a week in March to venture around and see if we can see our self there. Thanks for the insight on the prices and locations to check. Ill check out more of you videos. :)

Well, property tax depends on where you come from. We moved to Florida from Jersey and the tax here is about a third for a bigger property. Not bad.
Thanks for the accurate information 👍🏻.

Have been listening to your videos and went back to Cost of Living in Florida 2020. Have you summarized the cost in 2023, if not, hoping to see something in the future. Thx

Buy a house. I did in 1992. House is paid for now. Best thing I ever did
Yep, that is usually a good financial move👍
Please do.thanks

Do you see the Miami codo market prices falling, and if so would this be a time to buy Due to a unfortunate event that happened?

Give or take $500 for additional HOA fees
( do people get to chose 10,20, or 30 yr mortgage there?
I imagine yes but I really don’t know)
Thanks 😊
Im guessing you meant 30 year mortgage. In that case it would be about $1260/mo before any HOA fees, and yes you can get a 15 year and 30 year mortgage. They have 5/1 ARM too, but I don't recommend!
Prices in IL doubled for car registration and insurance is way more expensive as well. So , no Florida prices are normal
Yeah I heard about the car registration doubling, but insurance is still more here in FL. But I have no regrets being here, regardless of any additional expenses 👌
Yes , Florida is the better choice! IL really sucks these days :(
Polk County is 7%, Orange County is 6.5%, Osceola County is 7.5%, and Hillsborough County is 8.5%
All is great and informative, loved the video.

Does it matter in Fla how good your driving record is? Is it that much to register older vehicles you own?
It can be pricey depending on where you live down here! My driving record was good too, it still went up by quite a bit when I moved here. I believe the registration costs the same for all vehicles, but if you own the vehicle the yearly sticker renewal will cost less

I would be more focused on a getting a decent place near your work, after you find work. Hope this helps!
