On Monday May 1st 2017 at 5h pm hundreds of protestors took the streets of Montreal, Quebec, Canada against various political issues and law enforcement groups. Part of the protest originated at Metro Frontenac, later joining a second part at the Square Phillips shown at the 27:20 mark. Demonstrators used colored smoke bombs that produced large clouds of smoke above the crowd while they were marching. They also brandished sings and chanted anarchic slogans while marching around the downtown core. Tens of police officers wearing riot gear from the SPVM (Service de Police de la Ville de Montreal) and from the SQ (Surete du Quebec) were deployed and escorted the march for the most part. Traffic was deliberately blocked by demonstrators on major roadways such as Rene-Levesque Blvd and Sherbrooke St. Protestors wore bandanas, goggles and gas masks in order to protect their identity to alledgedly commit mischiefs and get away without being recognised. Cars were damaged and spray paint was used to draw an anarchy simbole in a bus shelter as seen at the 11:15 mark. The 4K Guy's main videographer was assaulted by one protestor who attempted to break the camera as shown at the 6:35 mark. Sporandically during the protest, people wearing masks confronted members of the media preventing them to film and capture images of the unfolding scenes, among others at the 20:50 mark. No injury were reported and one person was arrested for assault on a police officer. Cops patrolled on foot, motorbikes and bicycles while others wearing full riot gears were transported in vans on adjacent streets. The protest ended at 8h30 pm under heavy rain near the intersection of Maisonneuve Blvd and St-Urbain Street. Protests for the "May Day" also took place in France almost simultaneously, injuring multiple police officers. Protests in Quebec on May 1st every year cause disturbance and mobilise a high number of police ressources. This video was filmed with a combination of cameras including an LG G5 phone (wide and short lense) mounted on Lanparte HHG-01 gimbal and a Lumix FZ1000.

Protests are so common in Montreal now that people are utterly annoyed by them, and their purpose is rarely made conspicuous. How can people side with the protestors if it's not known what they stand for? As such, the protests are a failing construct.
