Perhaps Haas and Williams being a tiny tiny bit the worst out of the 8 teams, but all the others from Alpha Tauri to Renault to McLaren to Red Bull to Ferrari to Racing Point are pretty balanced, I wouldn't really know which one is the second best car at the moment.

Bottas and Hamilton did 1:25: 09 Leclerc did 1:25: 17 Verstappen did 1:25: 2 So the 2019 merc last year was just a tenth of the nearest competitors. This weekend, Verstappen did 1:26:1 which is almost a second slower than last year's time he set himself. So I don't see how the RP qualifying P3 has anything to do with the Mercs being so far ahead... Rather the others have slowed down...

Daniel RIC was qualifying on Mediums though and IMO looking at previous race that is great choice, it will open up more choice for RIC to overtake Best of the Rest in Pits. That is if He drives the way He did last race. But at the same time I think last race Racing Point didn't showcase what they are capable off with some balance issues, now they got more time they most probably will be quite a bit faster. I personally think currently in Best of the Rest Category, it's Racing Point and Verstapen are fastest, then right on their tail Renault, Leclerc and McLaren. Difference being miniscule really dependand on driver and strategy now, very exciting for Best of the Rest.
But he has no racing experience due to the broken car last week. Hope he is able to get a clean race. It's probably not so easy to drive a race in a new car with which you've only done a few training sessions.

But I think Red Bull will give Albon time at least till the end of the season and he has shown that he has potential. They reduced the hardness of the tyres this weekend Last week they used C1/Hard - C2/Medium and - C3/soft This week they are using C2/Hard(Medium last week) - C3/(Soft last week) and C4/ formerly known as SuperSoft. The Soft tyres this week are too soft and they lose their optimum grip in the last sector thus using mediums were arguably faster.
In fairness, some say that the mediums could be faster because softs deteriorated more than mediums. Depends on the car and the drivers preference. Mediums could actually be faster than softs on a single lap!

2014-2016 and 2020 are the only seasons where you could say Mercs have a definitive half a second or more advantage.
In 2017-18 Ferrari botched it. In 2019 the cars were just a tenth or so off the mercs as I've highlighted in my post above .

Daniel RIC was qualifying on Mediums though and IMO looking at previous race that is great choice, it will open up more choice for RIC to overtake Best of the Rest in Pits.
That is if He drives the way He did last race.
But at the same time I think last race Racing Point didn't showcase what they are capable off with some balance issues, now they got more time they most probably will be quite a bit faster.
I personally think currently in Best of the Rest Category, it's Racing Point and Verstapen are fastest, then right on their tail Renault, Leclerc and McLaren.
Difference being miniscule really dependand on driver and strategy now, very exciting for Best of the Rest.

Hülkenberg would be a great replacement for Albon in the Red Bull. He could withstand pressure with his experience and he is level-headed enough to be a good team mate for Max.

They reduced the hardness of the tyres this weekend
Last week they used C1/Hard - C2/Medium and - C3/soft
This week they are using C2/Hard(Medium last week) - C3/(Soft last week) and C4/ formerly known as SuperSoft.
The Soft tyres this week are too soft and they lose their optimum grip in the last sector thus using mediums were arguably faster.
In fairness, some say that the mediums could be faster because softs deteriorated more than mediums. Depends on the car and the drivers preference. Mediums could actually be faster than softs on a single lap!

A lot of people doesn't know that, but the way Strolls got his seat and keeps it is the same way other drivers get their seats. Obviously mediums were better tyres for them, otherwise they would use softs. I heard for some teams mediums are better, because softs overheat by the end of the lap when you push them in quali pace.
