One argument i have for doing something fun instead of something important has to do with your current mindset, if you've had a bad day (breakup, losing a family member, etc.) where it is really hard to get your mind off it, it is much better to do that low important stuff that brings u joy as it can reset your thoughts and thus make u more productive. of course this needs to be done in moderation as u cant just sit around and do nothing but for me sometimes when i get mad or sad hoping on and playing some games which i enjoy completely switches my mood and thus allows me to refocus on what i need to do.

Fantastic vid! Regarding creating a strict timetable, this is something that really helped me throughout IB, but I encountered a slight problem with it. Somewhat regularly, things will come up that will interfere with your timetable. The stricter your timetable, the more problematic it is when unexpected responsibilities arise. How do you mitigate this issue? Is it worth scheduling buffer periods throughout the day, or do you just restructure the plan when something arises?

Hi Flynn! Thank you for your comment. Yes I do agree that the lack of flexibility and adaptability to unpredictable events is one of the major problems which come with a strict timetable. Ultimately, it comes down to how common these "unexpected responsibilities" happen: if it is a rare occurrence which only happens every once in a while, then you can sacrifice the time of the least important activity on that specific day. But if they come up frequently enough where it interferes with a considerable chunk of your timetable, then yes, it may be wise to schedule some buffer periods where you are free to work/social/play or deal with these responsibilities. Hope this helps!

Hey! I will be attending HKUST for my exchange year, do you have inside information on which courses to take to fill up on some extra credits (easy courses please)? 🥲😈

Hi Kevin, since I'm a freshman I haven't taken that many courses and I'm not too familiar with the best courses to take for exchange students, but you could always find all the courses' syllabus online to find the courses which best suit your preferences. Hope to see you around!
