It is in my opinion not too slow, most people rush through it without paying attention to Mozart's expression marks. Giles does most of the written expression. Sometimes he is a bit too Beethovenian - but generally, I would say this is good Mozart.
@@metteholm4833 I agree It seems from watching on UA-cam pianists from earlier days played at this tempo and didn't behave like they were trying to prove how fast they could play. The melodies show their true beauty at the more moderate pace.
Because if I had a ticket for Gilels, who I would probably never have a chance ever again to listen to in person, then I would go unless bed-bound -- but I would try to suppress the cough :).
I think it is just that you have hundreds of people in the same place, chances are the will be one or three who can't help it for some reason. And the mics will pick it up from tens of meters away from stage. I never was bothered by coughs in live concerts, but they are a staple on such recordings.
Beautiful! Unbeatable pure and innocent quality.
The divinely inspired Mozart found an Angel by the name of Gilels to carry the message for us today
It's sad. Gilels did some Mozart but not a large amount. I wish that he had. He's brilliant playing Mozart.

Too slow!!
But I love it

Not too slow! Music needs breathing-space!

President Nixon at the piano.
ffs why do people go to the concet when they have the worst cough
I know I was taught it didn't matter if tears ran down your face you didn't cough and take a cough lolly with you. Or get up at interval and leave!!!

Most of the time this cough is not necessary 😒. It must be a bad habit because they can easily suppress it 😅.
