AS a Kirby player, I always spam UP b, but I tottaly get that. It's the same reason as falcon punch: satisfaction of getting someone with there moves are unmatched.
So... captain “falcon”... can cook a “chicken”... with one “falcon” punch...
Actually I just looked this up, it would most likely vaporize. Meaning that captain falcons punch is SO fast and so forceful that it could most likely do the same thing to human skin.
Falco:(sweats in bird)
Cooked Chicken *PUUNNCH*
Your "use" of quotation "marks" confuses "me".
How dare you -- kH
The real question is:
How fast does a fist have to move through the atmosphere to create the sound of a falcon
Ironically, slower than it has to move to be on fire! 🔥👊
KickyFut lol, yeah
I have the personal opinion that Captain Falcon just lets out an ear-piercing screech like a falcon every time he punches for intimidation factor
Jordan Remis That’s even better. He’s truly committed. Also, he must have the skills of a ventriloquist since he is yelling “Punch!” and “Scree!” at the same time ! Lol 😂
If 74million N of force doesn't make sense for a humanoid to create, forceful enough to basically kill in one hit (like the power of a rocket) and as you've already covered, Captain Falcon is wearing gloves... What if his gloves are coated with a fairly flammable/combustible substance which is what ignites the Falcon Punch? Chlorine Trifluoride for example is able to set fire to almost anything by mere contact, so if Captain Falcon's gloves are coated in a layer of flouride under the Chlorine Triflouride applied, he is safe from the usual chemical reactions but any of his unsuspecting foes become easy, combustible targets for the falcon punch. As a sidenote, maybe that's why his suit also shields his eyes - some of the reaction this chemical causes releases gas that is known to damage the eyes.
Regardless, excellent episode as usual! :)
Only one problem, this theory is instantly debunked by the punch itself. If his gloves were coated in a flammable substance then they would continue to burn after ignited. If anything his gloves are very flame retardant because the flames are extinguished right after he executes the punch.
@@89ludeawakening1 While I accept the idea in general, I don't think I was clear enough. What I meant to say was that perhaps his gloves have flouride as a coating and the chlorine triflouride on top of that. This is actually how this substance is stored - you coat the container with flouride on the inside for the CT to not react with the container itself. But yeah, I should've probably rearranged my comment to make it clearer.
@@kerrynoir4129 That actually makes more sense, that is why he has to spend so long on the wind up as he's secretly applying the flouride coating. Then once he punches it will burn off the flame retardant gloves. This way he also doesn't break every bone in his arm shoulder and much of his body buy throwing a punch with such force. The game f-zero might give some credence to being able to travel at high Gs but would not explain why he wouldn't be destroyed by Newton's Third Law upon contact.
but his punch lights on fire regardless of impact, even if its just moving through air.
@@CP110 could be game design... You wouldn't wanna be playing smash and Capt falcon just punches the air with no flames coming out because it would be insipid to us.

Great video, Kyle, as always!
Two thoughts. First, because of equal and opposite reactions, Captain Falcon's body would have to be able to withstand the force of accelerating his fist to that ludicrous speed. Furthermore, that same force would need to be transferred to the ground beneath him, so he would need some solid footing to even get the punch moving. Alternatively, he would have to be incredibly massive everywhere besides his arm to prevent his body from recoiling during the punch. This seems more plausible since a Falcon Punch can be made falling through the air.
The second point is related to the end of the punch. You described the force imparted supposing the punch lands, but the Falcon Punch is one of the most telegraphed moves in the game. What if he misses? Suddenly, all that force is distributed across his arm as the tensile strength of his bones, ligaments, muscles, and tendons fight to stop the fist at the moment of full extension. If his arm couldn't handle those stresses, he might shoot off his arm, either tearing from the shoulder or shredding the whole darn thing, in a suborbital trajectory. It this is a risk, then it would behoove Captain Falcon to resist the temptation to... show us his moves!
But when Captain Falcon's arm or hand would get ripped of he could still hit you with it.
Think about that, ab fist shaped projectile with almost the same force and velocity of the Flacon PUNCH!!

It makes sense that you wouldn't want an aerodynamic nose when re-entering earth's atmosphere, as you're ultimately trying to slow down.
lol, Yeah, that would be like making sure your breaks were as light as possible so they don't weigh down your craft too much.
You don't want to be too unaerodynamic though because otherwise you would decelerate too fast and build up too much heat destroying the capsule. As I understand it re-entry capsuals are actually quite aerodynamic at those speeds, dealing with a shockwave of air rather than normal airflow changes things quite drastically.
Not only are they decently aerodynamic to ensure that friction doesn't cause then to get too hot, but it also aids in control. Having a non-aerodynamic pod would cause you to spin and tumble out of control very quickly.

Here is how you get into footnotes:
Love your show Kyle, been watching for a year and watched all the old episodes. Blessed be Argan oil. You are the perfect combination of brains, beauty, and brawn.
Now, here is some math:
When you “break wind”, the mass of that is 0.0371 grams or 0.0000371 kilograms and the sun is 1.989 x 10^30 kilograms, so the sun has the same mass as 5.361186 x 10^34 blasts from behind.
7.7 billion people in the world, at an average of 14 “events” per day, gives you 107,800,000,000 wind breaking events per day. 3.9347 x 10^13 per year. So multiply that by 13.7 billion years and you get 5.390539 x 10^23 of these that we would produce in the length of the universe.
So, you divide the number of flatulence occurrences that the sun is composed of by the number we can produce in one universe: (5.361186 x 10^34) / (5.390539 x 10^23)
And you get: 99,455,471,892.5 universal timespans for the current population to boom boom out the mass of the sun.
Well then, that’s something we all know now.
How is this related to Falcon Punch? Haha why? 😂

Keep in mind the circumstances where the Falcon Punch was first used. In the anime, it made it's first (and ONLY) appearance against the final battle against Black Shadow, generating electricity as the two face certain death, with the whole base being set ablaze. Captain Falcon WAS LITERALLY ON FIRE AT THAT VELOCITY as he made the killing blow while accepting his own fate. A true hero.
Hey Kyle, love the show. Question: Would there be enough air in front of his fist in that short of a distance to create fire though? I mean you were talking about spaceships and stuff... So would it apply on the fist as well?
Greetings from Germany
Very good point, and would there be enough time for the air to get super heated before the end of his punch to cause such a fire? The reason why it happens to space ships is that they go from the vaccuum of space to trying to penetrate the atmosphere of a rotating planet, it's not sudden combustion like the falcon punch is. [Or for Kirby Mains the Pinecone Punch.] It takes time to re-enter and the temperature builds up over that time.
So are you guys forgetting about the shrimp? The distance with them is even smaller (although yes more force) but just a cm or 2 is enough to compress the water in front of it to create light. Time isn't really a consideration, in this case, atoms don't care how long they have been compressed for, if you get my meaning.
@@RavenZahadoom Sure, but the shrimp is in the ocean, which is much more dense than the air.
@@syxxvralrock5759 with the pistol shrimp it's in water so h20 is way more dense then air so the drag is greater than air which causes the shrimp to ignite the water but if u took the shrimp out of water and it tried it not much would happen if nothing at all
remember: Air, though not as dense, still increases in density the closer to sea level you get. Space craft "burst" into flames in the upper altitude and as such are there isn't as much atmosphere (and as such, less air) in front of it when it burst into flames
captain falcon s punch move was my favorite to use.
What if the atmosphere on the Smashplanet is more dense than on Earth?
Also, that's a lot of force; how many calories would he burn for each punch?
Certainly less than most superheroes in a fight.
More than 1
1320.7 cal (18% efficiency) to 1910 cal (26% efficiency).
But! He will consume more, if air resistance and adiabatic heating is accounted for.
Hey Kyle, Capt. Falcon would also recieve recoil damage from his Falcon Punch because from what I heard in boxing, boxers also hurt themselves whenever they punch their opponents hard. In addition, if he could punch that hard, he could only do it once cuz his fist would be smashed to bits, unless he's no ordinary human.

Shockwave "I'm not touching you!"
Hi Kyle,
Huge fan of the show and love how much I learn from watching you.
I have some issues on the data you're using to make your hypothesis.
Firstly, in the n64 version the flame falcon does appear in a single frame but C.Falcon is indeed charging the energy before releasing it. It's visible by the yellow glow he emits and this is even more visible in the latest smash game where energy is concentrating on his fist before being released. So we can assume that the flames are not only produced by his velocity but also some kind of energy released when he hits.
Another thing is you're only considering his falcon punch move but his other moves also emit flames. If we focus on the falcon kick it's instantly igniting when used so I think we can assume that the suit he's wearing has more to do with the flames than his actual speed.
And to prove that further let's compare the falcon kick to another character's move, lucario's extreme speed. When performed simultaneously, lucario is moving faster than C.Falcon so if the smash physics apply to all the characters he should burn as well. However he doesn't so it proves that C.Falcon's flames are not a result of his speed but produced by his gear.
And last point but it's more trivia, according to your "why you don't want superstrenght" video, if C.Falcon was to hit his opponents with that much force, he should be crushed instantly on impact. So either way he doesn't punch them that strongly or because video games.
this may very well be your best episode thus far!
Two punchy questions:
1.Does it really save total energy used to use low vs med on your dryer and med vs high ?? My electric company sent out an email claiming this, but is it really true?
2. Is trisodium phosphate really responsible for algae bloom or is it a different kind of phosphate used in agriculture and the reduction of trisodium phosphate in dishwasher detergent was no gain for the environment and the loss of clean dishes everywhere?
Hi Kyle, I think this my first time commenting, I can't remember but just wanted to point out that you said his hand would be moving faster than anything has moved on the planet, but we have been able to move subatomic particles to travel within a few meters of the speed of light. Also, love the channel, keep up the good work and please don't send an airstrike. 😁
Hi! Awesome episode, like always! :D I have a correction about the part with force calculation. It is allright, but assuming that the entire kinetic energy is deposited into the opponent being hit (going into their elastic and plastic deformation, catastrophic failure and so on, from engineering jargon). I believe though, that the fist at this high momentum would just smash straight through the target. Maybe it would need an actual calculation, but hey - just imagine a 15cm wide cannonball coming at you. Maybe we also have to assume that the targets are super tough? Would make sense, actually!
Cheers, Loving the show!
This reminds me of a student project from last year where they did a similar analysis on Ike's flaming sword and how fast he would have to swing to make a flaming blade. He came up with similar results from what I recall.
The Martin Marietta Sprint Missile glowed incandescent at Mach 10 five seconds after launch.
taking recoil into consideration, whenever captain falcon hits an opponent, he would fly off the screen and lose a life.
not exactly, kind of like how a golf club doesn't recoil when you hit the ball, with the overwhelming difference in force vs. mass the target eats the hit and he would continue on through, my question though is how does he stop himself from at the very least falling over or more likely hurtle off stage after the person he hits.
Depends on if he's punching Kirby or Bowser.
@@JamesSmith-dn8lb or if he misses.
@@joshuastomlin878 yeah id imagine his arm would rip off on a wiff.
@@ultimasurge he'd just spin, a LOT, and have one hell of a headache. No, likely pass out if he's generating that many Gs with just his first.
I’ve always wondered how powerful a punch would haft to be to cause a shock wave. Like when a boss in a video game punches the ground and you gotta jump over the shock wave
The real question here, how fast must Luffy's fist have to fly to generate flames....UNDER WATER?
That and how much force/power would be required for a decent gum gum pistol attempt
You can generate plasma in water by travelling through it fast enough that it compresses and decomposes into white-hot oxygen and hydrogen. This would happen at velocities of over 5km/s, which is Mach ~15
The same amount as mantis shrimp, im pretty sure they create little flashes of light underwater

Hey Kyle,
Just curious at that speed wouldn’t something like a fist just demolish what every it was striking like say your chest. Wouldn’t a falcon punch just go right through you like you talked about in the captain America shield episode where you did the math on how hard you would have to kick someone with the flat bottom of your boot to send them flying.
Anyways Great vid! And keep it up love these types of videos.
That would be funny if his punches were so powerful, that he couldn't punch anyone, because before the hit itself, he would annihilate his hand in explosion of hot blood, skin and bone :D
Life Molecule yea my first thought is that his arm would explode / rip off at the shoulder but that doesn’t sound as cool
You guys are forgetting that in order for his body to physically generate that force, that same body would have to be able to withstand its pushback.
I think something that small could actually pierce and punch a hole in a person's gut.

Loved your shout out at the end. I'm sure the young ones will get a kick out of it and without the extra fan fair you get collateral amusement. Nice idea.
10:50 Kyle you just admitted to being a supervillain. You're studying how to Falcon Punch so you can try to copy it, aren't you?
Taking these numbers:
Force = 74 MN
Area of a fist (approx.) = 60 cm^2
One can get a pressure = Force/area = 12.3 GPa.
Using Newton's approximation of impact depth for fast moving objects: Depth = Length of projectile * (Density of a projectile / Density of a target)
Assuming you are punching a face, density of a fist and density of a face are really close, so the fist won't go further than its own length (as you have mentioned in a video).
Given the speed and contact pressure, the fist and the opponents face would probably liquify and explode from the shockwave.
P.S. As I use to say: "Everything is like a liquid, when it's moving fast enough."
P.P.S. That was quite a "face-melting punch" **ba dum tss**
0:40 I wasn't planning on getting called out like this so early in the video.
i love that we can apply everything in this video to explain luffy´s gum gum red hawk , except we substitute the leather gloves with armament haki .
Hey Kyle! Love the show and yall did a great job as always. Speaking of punching though I have a question. How hard and fast would the superhero All Might from My Hero Academia have to punch in order to create a MASSIVE tornado like we see him do in the show? In order for a single punch to create that much air movement I'm sure it would have to be something ridiculous, perhaps more so than the Falcon Punch? Anyways, keep up the awesome videos. UNITED STATES OF SMASH!!!
Hey Kyle! this is defiantly off topic but I was skimming through some of your old videos and I had a couple (2) ideas.
1: the first one is about telekinesis. I know you don't like telekinesis because you don't understand how it could work, but hear me out for a second because I think you answered your own question without even realizing it. In many of your Thor's hammer episodes you attribute many of it's properties to the ability to manipulate theoretical gravitation particles. In my estimation if you gave a person a similar ability somehow, they would be able to manipulate objects in any way they wanted by altering how much gravity affects an object in reason to other objects in it's environment. Now this raises intriguing complications about lifting massive object by playing fast and loose with gravity. however increasing a persons own gravity until they turn into a black hole is certainly a interesting prospect.
2: I want to talk about laser bee's, as you where doing a "not" super villain phone call you offhandedly mentioned dispatching a unsuspecting victim by utilizing laser bee's. HOWEVER, as I am myself an aspiring super villain I just had to know how possible a swarm bee's equipped with DEADLY LASERS are. Assuming we can hookup bees with electronics that could control and coordinate there actions ( I mean we can already control the moment of a cockroach with a smartphone so it doesn't seem to unlikely) the real question here is can we equip a bee with a DEADLY LASER that is small and light enough for it to lift. This begs the question of exactly how deadly we want the laser to be. Well assuming your going to be controlling a entire nest (around 20,000 to 50,000 bee's I believe) of bee's, as I'd think you'd want to if not only for the pure intimidation value, I don't think each bee needs a laser that's necessarily a parented kill shot. According to the brief amount of googling I did, I can't definitively say what the exact energy output of a laser would have to be, but I did find that given the laser your using would necessarily have to have a very small area of contact, and you can find some terrifyingly small laser engravers (not to mention the dangerous as hell lasers you can just extract from a laser disk player). If you use a high frequency wavelength for the laser, it wouldn't have to be all that big or powerful to have it do some damage. However we run into a problem with the bee's themselves, an average female worker bee (the ones you'd most likely be using) can carry up to there own body weight in extra mass in flight... which is about 90mg (.0000198416 pounds). Sadly that is much less than any laser that I could find during my quick search. Maybe we can make robot bees?
Oh yea actually pertaining to the episode, flaming fist are cool, but how fast would he have to punch if he wanted to heat up the air enough to CAUSE A CHAIN REACTION THAT TURNS THE ATMOSPHERE INTO A FLAMING BALL OF PLASMA!!!
I swear, i'm not crazy
Technically, a mantis shrimp doesn't fling it's "fist." Its more accurate to say that it's punch is "spring loaded"

With that kind of force behind a small area of contact like his hand I think captain falcon is far better suited for Mortal Kombat then Super Smash Bros, as his fist would go clean through must humanoid opponents. Or depending on bone flexibility and the deceleration that his opponent adds to his punch, he may just have a hand stuck inside a smoldering chest cavity.
Depending on the area of contact and the material of his gloves/how quickly they dissipate heat he may be able to keep it pg by cauterizing the wound but if it hit a major artery the blood would still end up spraying a fair bit, and this is ignoring the splatter that would take place just from the bone and muscle etc that would be displaced by his hand entering a body.

if we "theoretically" made a weapon that shoot a high pressurized gas/liquid, we should be able to replicate the effect (given that the material is resistent enough to resist such pressure without getting cut like butter).

Hey Kyle 👋 love the show and I try to watch every episode as soon as it comes out but I've noticed something that happens alot and I can understand the reason behind it but when ever u have calculated someones punch force (one punch man, Captain America, Captain falcon, hulk, etc.) U always use only the mass of someone hand but last time I checked fists are connected to arms and arms to body's so isn't there some sort of mass percentage of someones body weight that is used in a punch that could make the calculations a bit more precise. Its a small thing but I'm just curious
Kyle, love the show. Been watching for a long while now. Anyway, you used the numbers for regular leather, and that cannot be right for this for obvious reasons. Assuming all the other dynamics you proposed are true, Cap's fist would have to be covered in something much more durable and heat shielded than leather. Only certain materials possess the qualities needed to keep his hands from flash-burning away. Those materials would have far different values than you used (leather) and that in turn would skew the rest of the calculations by a wide margin. This punch would be far more powerful.
Since Super Smash Brothers gives a specific percentage assignment of “damage” to every move, I feel like we could use this episode and Mario as a base line to induce the approximate force of all the moves.
We need to go from super smash brothers too super math brother
Kyle is super villain confirmed
all the other kyle's should have had different colours, it'd get confusing who you are playing if they all are the same colour.
One of biggest problem with mirror matches with more than 2P.

I love the "Kirby, Cmannn" -Kyle
6:55 "it would be moving faster than just about anything else on the planet has ever moved"
Not counting photons, electrons, or that steel plate from the Pascal B nuclear test.
Also, fellow Kirby main. I see you are a man of culture as well.
I believe he said "faster than anything living"
Kyle keep up the good work, Because Science is amazing.
When you show the imagem of the capsule with red plasma around it the plasma itself looks like a fiery bird thing with its wings spread, like in the middle of flight
Kyle... with every force there is an equal and opposite force... so wouldnt his punch send him flying off the screen too?
it would act entirely upon his fist and wrist, probably exploding it to smithereens leaving a burnt stump and breaking all the remaining bones along the arm.
Basically Deku from My Hero Academia...
This is my favorite episode, thus far. Really had laughing.
P.S. As a kirby main, i don't appreciate the kirby slander. It's like a literal punch to the face. And don't stereotype all kirby mains, as if we all tend to spam Down + B. Just because kirby was sent flying, just below the ceiling of the blast zone and everybody else is fighting with such moderate to high damage % near the edge of the platform, unaware that they're directly beneath him. Every professional kirby player knows to fall or fly safely to the opposite end to think of a strategy to knock them all away with just a simple, yet deviously ingenious move, that may have been used once or twice per minute, nothing too excessively. But what sort of attack would work? I got it.... a dash attack. With everybody's backs being turned, they'll never see it coming. >:)
Captain Falcon: ah yes I have a very powerful punch.
Ganondorf: Not so powerful than mine.
@Nick Moore 😂 but my comment is about SSB. But to counter your statement.
Darkseid: Puny mortal cannot stand the presence of a God.
@Nick Moore ah but that's just the pure Avatar of Darksied though. So a lot weaker then the full power of the God himself.
@Nick Moore but if it comes down to Doomsday then that might be a different story.
@Nick Moore yeah the Multiverse but Doomsday can self revive from anything that killed him and be immune to what killed him. And from a certain comic Doomsday did face Darksied and won. Many did say it wasn't the Avatar of Darksied but that can be debatable too. But many comic book channels did say Doomsday won against the real Darksied. I forget what comic it was though.
Kyle is tempting the editors' rage with all these falcon punches. Best beware he doesn't get KO'd by one.
Kyle: "The falcon punch is maybe one of the most famous fiery fists in all fighting games."
Liu Kang: "Am I a joke to you?"
Li Kang is more of Kick guy when it come to special move
It's more like - ken masters: " am i joke to you? "
Shoruken
Rothemdchen who?
Fire God Liu Kang has entered the chat.
If the kinetic energy from Captain Falcons fist could be transfered into the other person without exploding them, this would accelerate them to mach 1.4 .This means that he is punching them so hard that the other persons body would create a sonic boom as it flew away.
Heeey, retake on One Punch Man's serious punch and why you don't want superspeed.
The punch actually goes 90% of c, so the air molecules are fusing and giving out lots of X ray's. They heat the air and now you're fist it a disintegrating plasma ball like an H bomb.
When you invite your girlfriend over to smash but she Falcon Punches you in the face.
I still really want to know how powerful Bowser's Flying Slam (side B) is.
Here’s a project for you that I came up with earlier “Can Darth Vader survive in outer space with his respirator?”
Good Work again Because science team ty for the video.
Big Number: _exists_
Kyle: *miiiiiilllliiiooon*
"Kirby, come on" is the catchphrase I didn't know I needed
About damn time kyle about damn time.
