My mother lived in a building built for seniors. The outlets were slightly higher from the floor and the light switches where a bit lower because some seniors use walkers and have problems reaching. It looked different at first but it was very practical. They also had the bars in the bathroom and the tub.
Raymond thats a great idea, the factories would definitely do it if people wanted it. I’ve had people re-locate outlet heights for computers so could certainly be applied to other functions.
A grab bar doesn't make a bathroom wheelchair accessible. Need 5-foot turn space, roll-in or transfer shower, etc. The crawlspace is a good idea, long ramps are very inconvenient.
A barrier free walk in / wheel in shower And 5” risers under the Commodes all this in both wash rooms I do not want to lower or modify the kitchen cabinets or countertops and 36” doors by all means extra lighting inside and out and in the closets Extra electrical receptacles on the out side with phone and internet access front door and back door ramps and a hose bib on both sides of the dwelling And a recessed main entry door to give some relief from the weather to self or to guests when they arrive and a door bell with speaker and some solar panels and a variable all climate weather package just to start
IF you missed anything ?????? Where was the accessible shower ? Do you know how many senior apartments have only bathtubs, so you can easily fall in and out of the tub ? I am tired of having to ALWAYS shower at a gym which have walk in or roll in showers.
I like pocket doors where ever there is adequate wall space for them to be included. Another really important feature is a no-sill (tile?) shower, please...this one is a deal breaker
I was wondering about wheel chair accessibility. Particularly a ramp into the house. Also don't toilets come in a higher elevation for handicapped or old.
I have a 1998 patriot manufactured home signal wide receiver 16x60’, what do yo recommend front door and bed room and bath doors should wide for a wheel
it would make MORE SENSE to have the "POCKET DOORS" due to some areas it is very difficult to reach open/close doors. WHY must they always CHARGE MORE to make it more accessible. I was NOT impressed with THIS VIDEO, I wanted to ACTUALLY SEE a mobile home that is already made to be "WHEELCHAIR/POWER CHAIR ACCESSIBLE" NOT LISTEN to what COULD be done I want to see the actual completed home. The Bathrooms need to be MUCH LARGER!! For what they charge they should also INCLUDE THE WALK IN TUB where you can open/close the door!!!
i pray for barrier free walk in walk in shower in the mobile home rental but our insurance install walk in shower walk in tub but in a mobile home and land we own or permission from the landlord
Hi Kerry, I appreciate this video a lot. What have you got (if anything) for wheelchair accessible prefab homes? So far all I know of is the Boxabl Wheelchair Accessible Casita, but are there any others? Thanks. 👍🙂👍
What about putting in a roll-in showed and raised, elongated toilets?

You also need to lower the cabinets and counters. Ramps are a must.
Thank you for the feedback!
i am in a wheelchair too

Good points, thank you 😊
Have you found anyone offering a roll-in shower(preferrably with a seat ad hand wand)? I have had zero luck.

Thank you for this video. It answered most of my concerns.
You’re welcome!
I subscribed to your channel because of this video, I live in South Florida, but I need something like this.
Does Clayton do customizations such as these? bathroom grab bars, custom floors etc?
I haven’t actually bought from Clayton before but I believe they do. I have dealt with Palm Harbor and Fleetwood in the US and they both do.
Can doorway be increased to 36?
Sure can!

$125 charge to increase a door's width even though they are technically using less material. Gee, what a bargain.......
Haha! Never thought of it that way... don’t shoot the messenger 😂
How about making the kitchen island a little higher
Yep, can do!
👍
