Fort Douglas Military Museum, Salt lake City, Utah

Join me today in Salt Lake City, Utah for a tour of the Fort Douglas Military Museum. Fort Douglas was established in October 1862, during the American Civil War, as a small military garrison about three miles east of Salt Lake City, Utah. Its purpose was to protect the overland mail route and telegraph lines along the Central Overland Route. It was officially closed in 1991 pursuant to BRAC action. Wikipedia

Welcome to Utah! Pretty neat museum. I have not been there since on a field trip in grade school decades ago. I think I'm overdue for a return visit! LOL. They have some pretty awesome artifacts from long ago on display there. Pretty neat to see. Now that I'm older I can appreciate it more than when I was there as a kid. Thanks for the tour. We enjoyed the visit to this nice military museum with you Brian. From the early history to the more recent we enjoyed the displays. So your saying a cruise may not be in your future? 🤣🤣 The staterooms are much nicer than the naval ships and the food better! Enjoyed seeing all the artillery. What kind of helicopter and tank were they? Best for me to read the signs too! Thanks for bringing us along.

I’m at the University of Itah all the time, I didn’t know Fort Douglas has a museum, very cool to see the history. I’m sure you’re not here anymore, but not far from here is Red Butte Gardens, Utah museum of fine arts, and a natural history museum. They do cost though, very cool that this one was free!
