+TRIMIKE 299 Good question, though I’m not exactly sure... I think that a 5-chime K-horn is actually just as loud as a 3-chime. The 3-chime just seems louder because more pressure is being put through each individual trumpet, whereas a 5-chime being blown at the same psi will have less pressure through each individual bell. That’s just my guess, lol
Depends on how much decibels (gallons of air is a way to condense it) are being put onto it from the air compressor. For example, K5LA's are loud. RS3L's are very louder. The decibels on the horns shows what is louder. And the air compression makes it loud. Also I saw your face in the clip with the MP36 passing your car clip and the person in the back seat, Gavin lol.
I used to hear a lot of K3 variants, especially BNSF (ex-ATSF) units, on the BNSF mainline between Stockton and Bakersfield. Nowadays, it's mostly K5LLA's I hear.
@@CascoValleySpotter same here, considering that i hear them pass by and blow them outside my window every night since i live next to a crossing, they have grown on me, and sound more melodic than other K3s sounding a bit more like a k5la
Nice clips! But there's just one thing I noticed. Those Northstars...those have K5LAs. I could see how they might be confused, since it only really sounds like a K5LA when they're going about 40 or slower. As for finding K3Ls on BNSF territory, your only real hope is to get an H1 dash 9 (in the last couple of years, I've only seen two leading), or in this area, hit up Hinckley Sub. and hope for a CP freight. You could also just go to Paynesville Sub. (CP).
Thank you! The Northstar cabcars have K5LA's, but I can assure you that the MP36's do not. I've even seen the horns in person, and they were clearly K3LA's. I do go to the CP Paynesville Sub occasionally, but I like the Staples Sub better since it's much more active. :) As for the Hinckley Sub, it's kind of hard for me to get over there since I don't have a driver's license lol
I’ve never been a huge fan of K3LA’s, though of course there are few that catch my ear. I prefer K3L’s or RS3L’s, but unfortunately those aren’t very common on BNSF

Yes, I was very lucky! Very cold too lol
At 1:42, I recognized that horn, I’ve seen 5206 multiple times!
I film at goose Island all the time.
Tri Rail has K3LAs on its BL36PH
0:31 That’s the BNSF staples sub!!!
Nice meet with the two BN 60M's!

Hmmm is that Minnesota
Most of the clips, yes.
Can you make a K5HL Compilation pls
I literally have two

The K3LA is without a Doubt my Favorite 3 Chime “K” Horn. Excellent compilation!
Wow, I would’ve never guessed that Northstar and Frontrunner use K3LAs
I think 3rd gen K3LAs sound the best to me, the ones you hear on most genset engines
I used to hate them, but they have slowly started to grow on me

Why do metrostars have two locos and 3 cars
They do that often on weekends, sometimes during the week. I believe it’s for better braking and acceleration

A lot of these sound like my K3HA just not with a reversed 4A bell!
Cool!
K3HA and K3LA have the same tuning. The difference is just in the manifold heights.

I’ve commented on the amazing K5HLs
Now, these horns are actually ear piercing garbage. Especially on the Dash 9s, or as I call them, trash 9s
