Arcade has some better fx in the backgrounds and the character models are a little bit bigger and more zoomed in, Saturn port is very good 95% I'd say faithful to the arcade
@@filevans ikr 5th gen consoles have not aged well at all when it comes to 3d compared to the 3d games on the arcade boards such as Sega model 2 and namco system 22 the 2d games on the hand have aged like fine wine its a shame that not a lot of 2d games were made for those consoles
Backgrounds look a little better on the arcade version. Saturn holds up pretty well though. I also noticed Kasumi's chest bounces a little more on the Saturn version :)
Valdivia Vicent the arcade cabinet was also like $20,000 and a Saturn was less than $200 when doa came out. It’s an amazing port and the Saturn is running it in a higher res than the arcade! 640x480 on Saturn, it’s like 496x384 in arcades I believe.

@jhkuno88 TR is a bad example. First gen launch game & no decent software libraries from Sega at the time. But I do agree with overall premise that the Saturn wasn't great at full fat 3D games, one had to use the hardware in a way that minimised the use of polygons to keep the frame rate smooth (such as in Panzer Dragoon Zwei & Saga). VDP2 helped in that regard.
I don't remember Sega Saturn being able to achieve visuals like these. I mean, even the cancelled Saturn version of Virtua Fighter 3 didn't look this good.

I thought I read that the game used the same engine as Saturn VF2 but did not use the high resolution mode used in that port? What ever the truth, it was an excellent port and the backgrounds are a very convincing replication of the Model 2 original despite actually being 2D.
Okami™ sim, a resolução da versão Ps1 é de 512x448px em 30fps, portanto, é menor tanto em termos de resolução, como tb em Fps, sendo esses alguns dos motivos da própria Tecmo ( e tb Itagaki) considerar a versão Saturn melhor que a versão Ps1, lembrando que a versão do Saturn foi escolhida para ser portada para o Xbox 1 ao invés da versão ''atualizada'' do PS1 que inclue 2 personagens ou até mesmo DOA do Arcade da Sega Model 2 que incluí cenários 3D.
Andei olhando umas screenshots da versão Saturn, e parece que o jogo roda em 2 resoluções diferentes. A resolução maior é utilizada nos modelos 3d dos lutadores e nos overlays. Todo o resto (chão e plano de fundo) parece estar numa resolução bem inferior. Aqui mesmo no vídeo dá pra perceber que as texturas do chão apresentam mais serrilhado na versão Saturn. Mas ainda assim a versão Saturn é muito bem feita tecnicamente, aproveitou ao máximo o potencial do console.
The Saturn had two graphics processors, one for 3d and one for 2d, the 2d chip having some support for 3d transforming planes. The background, UI and the ground were rendered with this 2d chip, the 3d chip only had to render the characters. Pretty impressive that they made the game run at 60fps

O Dead or Alive é de 1996, caramba... achei que era mais "novo" (joguei mais da versão de Dreamcast, que é no caso o Dead or Alive 2). Esse Dead or Alive eu iria jogar para gravar e zerar no meu canal, bem... ficou por isso mesmo. (Nao tem save state no emulador do Model 2, isso que dá). Nesse primeiro eu nao curti esses "ring out", eu prefiro os do Virtua Fighter. Em relação as versões, o de Arcade pra mim é melhor... mas do Segasatan fez um bom trabalho.

Best fighter?!? I don't know about that -- Best poly fighter, yes. It's more refined than VF1 or VF2 or Fighting Vipers -- and certainly Last Bronx (which was the biggest joke among the Sega fighters). it's interesting to note that even Tecmo said the XBox (original console) based its version of Dead or Alive 1 on the Saturn port, NOT the original Model 2 arcade game. They tweaked the gameplay on the Saturn port from all reports.

The controls of DOA were tighter than any of the other Saturn poly fighters including all the VF games and Last Bronx. The Sega poly fighters all had delay in the controls and I never liked Sega's idea of "jump physics." They were too slow. I can see why Tekken was the more popular poly fighter internationally. Tekken has better control response and was easier to pick up and play. As far as ports go, the Saturn version of DOA resembled the arcade version more than the PS1 port. The PS1 was a completely different-looking game with "roller" backgrounds since it didn't have the memory and power to fully render 3D. I had both the PS1 and Saturn versions at one time but got rid of the PS1 game. I still have the Saturn disc even though I haven't touched it in over a decade.

ah, esse jogo tem uma tonelada de roupas liberadas há cada zerada. Só essa pesonagem Kasumi tem 6 extras, tem até roupa de coelhinha, dominatrix, mergulhador (para o Bayman) e Teletubbie para o Zack.
Before I wasn't sure what game I should suggest for a comparison... Until now. Do an Arcade version of Tekken 3 with the PS1 version, Arcade Tekken Tag Tournament with either PS2 or PS3 version, Arcade Soul Edge with Soul Blade and Arcade Soul Calibur with either DreamCast or XBox Arcade version.
DOA and VF2 was a mega mix waiting to happen, Sega should have shared the graphics engine with other developers, we would have had better conversions across the board.
Levando em conta a diferença técnica da versão arcade ainda assim a versão do Saturn chega bem perto fica devendo alguns detalhes de cenário e as sombras dos personagens porém fica ben próximo a versão arcade já no PlayStation mudarám tudo cenário a única coisa que ficou igual a versão arcade foi as sombras dos personagens mas para isso tiveram que mudar o jogo todo a verdade é que a versão do PlayStation e tipo os jogos de luta 2D para PlayStation Q grande maioria é ex Edition.
O som parece ser um pouco melhor, na versão de arcade. O Zack não tem o jingado quando vai lutar, os cenários tem mais objetos. A câmera afasta e volta as vezes, no cenário contra a Kasumi, está descendo a plataforma. Enfim vai ficar grande o texto aqui, mas o port da versão de Saturn não fez feio!
Hey is it just me or is it kinda funny that Zacks Alien costume big time resembles and is an Easter egg for the capcom game Battle Circuit which was an arcade game in the 90s ....it was only in japan maybe in a few places outside but if you get the capcom beating up bundle you see that in the space elvis fighting stage your surrounded by Zacks in his alien suit ......tell me if I'm not crazy and you see the same thing I do please....leave a like to my comment if I'm not crazy and you notice it too a connection between zack from dead and alive and capcom's battle circuit?
I saw the comparison and the PS1 version looks like tekken with DOA characters. It has nice characters designs, and lightsource shading. The arenas look lackluster while the saturn version looks good over all
I had both... Guess which port of DOA1 I kept? If you said Saturn, give yourself a cigar! The Saturn version of DOA1 was FAR closer to the arcade. They used softer shading on the PS1 game and the backgrounds were utterly unlike the arcade in many cases. The Saturn for all its occasional roughness in poly games LOOKED better in this case. I liked playing the game better on that system. The Sega Saturn pads certainly felt more comfortable than the PS1 pads!
Conversão bem boa. Há perdas mas o "grosso" do jogo está aí com a jogabilidade intacta. Mas os truques para compensar os cenarios não serem 3D ainda não são tão bons como em Last Bronx, em que até Mode 7 foi usado no teto de um cenário para dar profundidade.

Tirando o cenário do elevador, todos os outros puderam ser convertidos bem para o 2D com planos do Saturn (aliás, tenho e jogo esse jogo no Saturn desde 1998 e finalmente entendi que raios era esse cenário do elevador kkk). Virtua Fighter 2 e Last Bronx, nem tanto, e nem sempre. Mas todos são uma prova de que o Saturn era capaz de fazer ótimos jogos de luta 3D na mão de quem entende.

No they didnt. At least on full 3D games....remember Tomb Raider was developed for the Saturn and it was crap
