I am not a pro. I am just a hobby photographer, taking and editing pictures only for fun. I learned some basic Lightroom techniques and was mostly using them. Before I watched any of your videos, I only knew how to open a Photoshop and use it like MS Paint.😄 I was so intimidated by Photoshop, I never thought that I would ever use it. When I started watching your videos, I got inspired to purchase Photoshop and I slowly got better at it. And after watching this Photoshop for Beginners series, I got so good at it that when I edited some photos of my friends using your techniques, their minds were blown! I am still way far from being an expert, but your way of teaching gave me confidence to keep learning it. When somebody asks me how I learn Photoshop, I recommend them your channel.
I have done Blend-if class of a paid content creator but this man is from different planet. The concept of blend-if is clear now.The example of wall with graphics is simply fantastic.Thank you so much Mr. Unmesh cheering clap for you.
This is extremely pertinent information if you're looking to be a photoshop professional. This entire series, free, is worth more than literally every course I have taken, and I've been to Udemy, Linkedin Learning, other UA-cam channels. Nah, this the one.
I literally said out loud, "are you kidding me!", within 10 seconds of this video.... this looks so much easier than dealing with channels to remove backgrounds with trees...
There is no one who compares to your teaching style. I've learned more about editing from you in the past year than I have in the last 20 years of screwing around with photoshop. Absolutely amazing work!
@@DartheomusI can imagine how bad you feel. I've been trying to look for good instructors on subjects I want to learn. But there's just so little of them.
@@hieuvu9787 Photoshop is always evolving, so there is always something you might be missing out, or a different way ( and sometimes better way) to reach the result you want

I've watched dozens of your videos from start to finish, possibly close to 100 of them and I've learned SO MUCH from you. I was trying to describe your channel and video style to my wife and the best way I thought of to explain your teaching style and approach was to say "he's the Reading Rainbow of Photoshop." lol I know that's silly, but you make it so easy to understand, and your approach is very pleasant, so it makes learning these concepts easy and fun, hence "Reading Rainbow" (for us Gen X kids, people younger than me, like yourself, may not get the reference).
You are by far one of the greatest educators of the platform (I didn´t just say phostoshop because your pedagogy is amazing against any field of teaching)
I really learn a lot from your Photoshop videos! They are easy to understand and follow. I also enjoy that there is not an over abundance of talking about unnecessary things like how your computer was made or the code for writing the Photoshop software, unnecessary rabbit trails that have nothing to do with the lessons. Thank you!
I used to think I knew photoshop very well until I ran into the 'blend if' options which had me lose all my confidence because I could not make head or tail of it. Thanks Unmesh for making it as clear as daylight...Great video...
OMG thank you so much. I just learned more about blend-if in this short video than I have tried to understand in the last 3 years since I found a way to use both photoshop and Lightroom and not have to hide from photoshop.
A wonderful technique for fine-tuning hair highlights and changing highlight color and saturation around the 5:45 to 8:00min mark. Very good that all your walk-throughs are non-destructive.
This is your BEST video ever. I have been struggling with blend if for years. I have been a very long time subscriber and the way you explained the 'how' behind 'how blend if works' in this video is different (better for me) than a lot of your other amazing tutorials. The science behind the workings just made things click with me. Thank you!
Here is an outline of the final graphic-applied-to-wall portion (what a great demo!) 1. Establish the graphic as a smart object; duplicate 2. Assign these Layer Styles to these two layers of graphic over the wall: a. Top layer - Screen blend mode (apply bright areas of the graphic to wall) i. Use Blend If to: 1) exclude dark regions in graphic 2) push dark regions of wall through* b. Bottom layer - Multiply blend mode (apply dark areas of the graphic to wall) i. Use Blend If to: 1) exclude light regions in graphic 2) push light regions of wall through* 3. Blur the graphic (use smart filter; Gaussian, 1 px) 4. Apply texture mask to graphic a. Group two graphic layers together b. Add mask c. Copy grunge texture into mask; invert; unlink mask; resize 5. Color grade whole image using existing preset (just in newer photoshop) a. Adjustment Layers > Color Look-up >Crisp Warm Look 6. Apply curves adjustment layer for brightening purposes, mask this to disappear, and paint on this effect to cause highlight on graphic 7. Apply curves adjustment layer to whole composition to increase contrast Applies PixImperfect Plug-In Compositing Texture
one thing makes unmesh so good at teaching is he keeps explaining the basic everytime. not ask audience for see another video just for simple basic thing. he should open university
I would love if adobe could incorporate a way to more precisely define the color range for blend if, instead of a grey/red/blue/green drop-down, if there could be a slider like in the hue/saturation adjustment panel where can define exactly how wide the color range you want to affect is.
