He turns around and starts walking away Party-mate asks," Where are you going?" Goliath, still walking, and still smiling says "I've got a door to build!"

Note: Goliath "Stone's Endurance" is in line with Goliath tendency of overchallanging themselves. Early on it's a powerful ability but later it's pretty weak, so you can see it as a higher chance of your character dying.
I'm playing a goliath barbarian, but only saw this video just now. Didn't really know much about goliaths other than what the manuals tells me, but I didn't really look at that when I created my character. The reason I decided to play a goliath is not "I want to play a golaith", but because I wanted to create a character based on one from a series of novels that I liked, who happens to be a mighty warrior (and an evil warlord) who is described as "a giant of a man", and with a lot of emphasis on how big and muscular he is. And rather than having him be a really big human, I decided to make him a goliath, as the racial features seemed fitting. Now that I have watched this video though, I can see several aspects about my character that actually are quite fitting for a goliath, and I had no idea about it. I did have my character grow up amongst humans though, so his backstory could have him be this warrior that towered above everyone else, just like the character I based him on. That character, is The Horned King from The Chronicles of Prydain by Alexander Lloyd (my avatar is the Disney version, very different).
I read in “Races of Stone” (If memories serves me), Goliaths are the product of Stone Giants and Earth Genasi. It doesn’t explain what they mean by “product of”, probably to allow DMs to come up with it. I enjoyed the lore behind their “Dawn Callers” Bard subclass.
So a Grapplemancer can reduce the range of his spells to "Touch", and would then get a bonus to his Attack, or possibly Damage ? Maybe a much higher Save DC ? Talk to your DM.

Hooooly Cow, thank you creating these videos :) I watched some of your videos about potential enemies before, but i think i will make your race/class videos mandatory for PCs :D
Your description of importance of games to them along with the interest of playing a little against type made really think of the concept of a Goliath gambler. A giant at home in taverns and the like, doing various games to prove themselves the best, like maybe they were bested once at a game of cards and it turned into a life long quest to be the best. Like a charlatan that follows the Goliath's sense of Lawful, but at least proficiencies in a gaming set, and probably pick up tavern brawler. And for a class, maybe not even rogue but a warlock where their relationship with their patron is like an archfey putting them up to various bets.

This video inspired me to make a cool NPC, a Goliath that has tattoos all over his body, each one showing an achievement (for example, he has a tree tattoo from the time he was playing hide and seek and he hollowed a tree in preparation in order to hide there for five days) and is competing with the PCs to clear a dungeon first so he can get a tattoo of the dungeon's map. The reason for the tattoos is that the women of the race are really infertile, and in order for the species to survive they must have really strong babies, so only the Goliaths with the coolest tattoos get... breeding responsibilities, and are bathed with honours. Your videos in general are quite inspiring, for showing multiple facets of the races and monsters. (I designed the character before watching Moana, btw, so I got the tattos idea independently)
In 3.5 I played a hulking hurler barbarian names Keothi “Fargazer “. I’m playing a Goliath Death Knight(the Knight Class online) in a 3.5 Campaign. I often play his competitive streak and will odd social behavior(not understanding cultures of Lower-folk) like Drax. Any additional suggestions?
Not understanding the gender roles of lowlanders, or the roles just being different for the Goliath, outside of how it directly relates to the family. Goliath will hunt and eat what lowlanders would consider to be vermin (food is scarce in alpine environments, they are not fussy about what they eat), once a Goliath considers someone a friend, they are very open and frank when they talk to them, and will discuss very close and personal matters with little sense of reserve, those who they do not consider friends, they will be the exact opposite, and will be easily offended by any personal questions.
There’s a subclass in fighter that has a feat that stacks with the Goliaths Racial strength. It allows you to pretty much have an infinite carry weight and be able to pick up and throw a few thousand pounds!
I have another interpretation about goliath and drinking, here's details that come up in my mind: they are practical and competitive (that make them a little more serious), in altitudes there're no inns (so they drink with their tribes, maybe in specific, with ritualistic taint, situations), in mountains drinking is not the smartest things to do (but that's for humans, maybe not goliaths), people that risk starvation is careful not getting high and confused, too much risk dying, falling a cliff, getting cold, not catching prey (so again a ritualistic drinking is accepted), at the same time a severe environment make useful relaxing in a way or another, drinking can give extra energy/calories. In many mountain societies drinkg a lot is common. And I think also at what strange lichene beverages you can distillate! Yes, dwarves have poison resistance, but what about that idea: when they get almost drunk, they can use their stone endurance to shrug off their drunkness and returning totally sober? What a surprise in the eyes of a dwarven competitor!
I have a goliath NPC that's a (4E) avenger with a two-handed flail. Is a Favoured Soul paragon class and is about to get her wings. Will happen while her party is backing up the PCs, for the visuals.
I really liek this video, super Informative and interesting and a greta help for developing my character. Usually in vids about goliaths people just shit talk them which makes me sad cuse I think they r neet
I'd put my money on the Dwarf I a drinking contest. +2 CON and resistance to poison and advantage on poison saves sounds like Dwarves could just shrug off all alcohol.
Most welcome.. I feel like there is more to say about the Goliath though, as soon as I had finished the recording of Audio I was like "Oh, I should have mentioned their tribal roles, oh, and where they live geographically on Faerun, oh, and more on how they respond to threats as a tribal group, oh, and why they don't fight along side dwarves, oh, and why elves weird them out.." Heh, player races are steeped in lore!
What say you to a dual shield wielder? I rolled one a decade ago but the campaign died after only a couple sessions. This reminds race me of that characters own...
Then I have to apologize for my more recent vids where I no longer add music intros like that. Due to listening to constructive feedback from viewers in order to improve the channel.
One my brothers is playing a Goliath who runs a farm with a kobold (npc) and a gnome bard(other brother), they only go on adventures because their farm cost 5 times what it produces to run(elementary school children are not great at finances). Its really fun just to watch the sorta brains and brawn dynamic. Favorite Example: So the party is in a black market, they all pay a hafling to pull a card from the deck of many, Goliath pulls the void card and die shit happen involving mugging their quest giver, stealing a diamond and paying a back alley cleric. Point is they revive them. Goliath immediately walks up to the hafling and punches him in the gut killing him. Gnome slips the void card into the hafling's hand.
Hi AJ Pickett, a question for ya... are male Goliaths naturally bald or are they able to grow hair? I heard some people saying that male Goliaths are naturally total hairless
One idea that I had is that male Goliaths are naturally hairless, while females have hair only on the top of the head, but female Goliaths are VERY proud of their hair (caring for it for hours, letting it grow long, making elaborate knots, etc), and male Goliaths find "weird" males growing long hair and having beards.
Spot on, not generally. It is interesting to note however, that in the 3.5 class Dawncaller (Races of Stone variant, p. 103), that it is implied that Darkvision is a latent ability that Goliaths may have once possessed.
So I like to have my Goliath tribes have *some* elders. Just a few. But because they seize being the best physically they instead become teachers, storytellers, artists and craftsmen. They'll care for livestock and the families. And they'll adopt those Goliath children that are orphaned due to their parent's need to outdo themselves. They're those elderly people who never stop learning
You have a nice selection of D&D sounds on your channel, and that is something I always find very handy in my games, since my tablet (and wifi speaker) are also gaming tools.
Am I crazy or did he, at one point, say that because they’re so interested in striving at things, goliaths could be quite adept ... rogues or thieves? I mean, I’m not a D&D expert by any means but this just seems like... why even have races or classes then?
Not all rogues and thieves are sneaky, I've played a number of thug characters.. case in point, Conan the Barbarian, was a Gladiator/Rogue, his first legit adventure with a party of other characters, was a robbery of a Snake Temple.
The Goliath is my favorite race and when I told that to my gf she said "that's because you act exactly like them you always have to be the toughest or one up people and you are constantly looking for fights harder than your last" I realize she's right because I even get into arguments with people over who has sustained

There’s a subclass in fighter that has a feat that stacks with the Goliaths Racial strength. It allows you to pretty much have an infinite carry weight and be able to pick up and throw a few thousand pounds!
Well, "It allows for" never overrules "The DM allows". :)
@@AJPickett Yeah....my DM forbid me from using it.
What a surprise in the eyes of a dwarven competitor!
intro's LIIIIIIIIIIT!
So I started another playlist on my channel home page, with the full tracks of music I modify and use in the intros.. Glad you liked it!
I'm thinking of a goliath way of the long death monk character to use in the future.
Goliath is my favorite race
8:21 FUCKIN WHAT? GAZELLE THROWER? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
UPDATE: OMG AJ saw my comment! Weee!
I have a goliath NPC that's a (4E) avenger with a two-handed flail. Is a Favoured Soul paragon class and is about to get her wings. Will happen while her party is backing up the PCs, for the visuals.
So a certain Resident Evil character would be known to the Goliaths as:
Chris “Rock Puncher” Redfield
I'm suddenly picturing a Goliath badgering Leon Kennedy to impregnate his sister...
Is there any info on Kavaki, the ram lord out there? Been playing a religiously motivated Goliath fighter and any information would be helpful.
hmmmm, not sure.
Isn't 20000 feet about 6000 metres? That would set the boiling point to about 93° Celsius, not all that low.
Luna Fowler Barely a noticeable difference honestly.
Pretty sure that changes with planetary mass. Anybody know the theoretical mass of their homeworld or base atmospheric pressure relative to earth?
I'm in the middle of " critical role " season 1 with " grogg" as a goliath barbarian. Pretty damn cool.
Any tips for a Goliath paladin? What gods do they have?
Tempus would be an excellent fit, Malar, the Red Knight, Torm, Helm, any of the nature gods.
Swwweeeet! Thanks again A.J!
Most welcome.. I feel like there is more to say about the Goliath though, as soon as I had finished the recording of Audio I was like "Oh, I should have mentioned their tribal roles, oh, and where they live geographically on Faerun, oh, and more on how they respond to threats as a tribal group, oh, and why they don't fight along side dwarves, oh, and why elves weird them out.."
Heh, player races are steeped in lore!
What say you to a dual shield wielder? I rolled one a decade ago but the campaign died after only a couple sessions. This reminds race me of that characters own...
Hmmm, depends on the shield I suppose, ironically, the lighter shields are much more effective as weapons.
@@AJPickett I've more to say at a later time. For now, it's time to get the kiddies to bed.
;)
Goliaths: the only tolerable shonen protagonists
So, Goliaths are basically Drax from guardians of the galaxy.. I could picture Dave Bautista being a Goliath character!
Yeah, pretty much, but, not necessarily on the spectrum.
An evil Goliath might be more like The Mountain, from Game of Thrones.
I am currently making a goliath bard, I think he's gonna be raised by halflings. His name is noodle. The halflings were hippies.
Im currently playing a goliath eldritch knight who has the entertainer background. Hes a lot of lol
Is see Goliath,but....where's David?
You mean a dwarf?
@@thecourtjester2610 Halfling?
My current group is a dragonborn assassin a goliath dualweilding greatswords a overly cautious paladin and a cowardly teifling bard
I am so making an outcast Goliath and a Gnome team where the Gnome rides on him and fires of arrows like a damn predator shoulder cannon.

*AGRESSIEVELY SLEEPS*
Hmmm... goliath archeologist bard 2 rune knight 18?
Whats up with the super loud music in the beginning? Normalize sound in post.
Mmm yes generic club music goes perfectly with my dnd videos
Then I have to apologize for my more recent vids where I no longer add music intros like that. Due to listening to constructive feedback from viewers in order to improve the channel.
They would be great speed runners
Theres one goliath in our campaign named grognak
I can’t believe that show never made it past the pilot.
What d&d book is the Goliath in?
Kenny Crites Volo's guide and Elemental Evil I believe!
0:16 Was that Grog???
Weird w/o the beard.😁
Wait what about Minotaurs. Aren't those taller? Or atleast the same size.
Minotaurs were not a player race in 5E when this vid was made
@@AJPickett ahh that would make sense.
Goliath fighter/rogue for the win giant ninja in heavy armor
I can see it, a goliath monk...
Do Goliath have darkvision?
Generally no.
Spot on, not generally. It is interesting to note however, that in the 3.5 class Dawncaller (Races of Stone variant, p. 103), that it is implied that Darkvision is a latent ability that Goliaths may have once possessed.
I would love to see a drinking contest between a dwarf and Goliath
I made a ranger/fighter goliath
I think the name you were looking for is Thanos
So I like to have my Goliath tribes have *some* elders. Just a few. But because they seize being the best physically they instead become teachers, storytellers, artists and craftsmen. They'll care for livestock and the families. And they'll adopt those Goliath children that are orphaned due to their parent's need to outdo themselves. They're those elderly people who never stop learning
I think these guys might practice infant exposure
So...an 8 foot Saiyan.
What’s the song?

Every time i want to start a youtube series someone already has started one exactly how i'd do it T__T
@@AJPickett intimidation rogue: you no see Grog
Yes sir, I'm sure i don't see anything sir
The Goliath is my favorite race and when I told that to my gf she said "that's because you act exactly like them you always have to be the toughest or one up people and you are constantly looking for fights harder than your last" I realize she's right because I even get into arguments with people over who has sustained
