Ireland doesn’t often get much credit for our winners, but this is a truly phenomenal song and undoubtedly one of our best
Doch, höchste Anerkennung. Selbst mein Sohn war begeistert. Er kannte sie vorher gar nicht. Auf der Bühne hat sie so begeistert und ganz junge Leute überzeugt sie. Eine der empatischten Künstlerinnen .
Best Eurovision song ever
She controls her voice so incredibly. It's fascinating to watch and listen to her
The voice control and the ease of singing is so great here. She has no strong theatrics - she just stands there and sings. The song speaks for itself.
Totally, Iggy3, it’s worth watching again and again to appreciate the pacing, the vocal control & the build up of emotion. It’s perfect, a wonderful song, wonderfully sung.
Love your pfp
even a guns n' roses fan likes this
@@Million51169 lol yeah. Though i'm not a big fan anymore. It was more of a teenage years band. I just didn't get around to change profile pic.
Probably one of the best ballads ever written. And arguably the most worthy winner. I can't stop listening to this captivating song.
So true.
Absolutely my favourite Eurovision song
It is an extraordinary, emotional song and beautifully sung
@@a91170Let's not forget that the winner after her was also good
written by Jimmy Walsh from Dublin , living and entertaining in New York for many years .Brilliant siong
She sang the hell out of this song!
Effortlessly
She sure did!
And did not really sing before that, she worked in a bank no one had knew her before that song. and she went back to the bank job ,
indeed!
The most deserving of all the 90s Irish winners, IMO. It grows on you.
This and the 92 win were exceptionally good...
It definitely grew on me
Best song ever to win the Eurovision, sung by the best singer ever to win it. This was the Euro vision at its very best, it went straight down into the dumps after this.
Her voice is so incredibly powerful and confident, and yet she makes it look effortless. Truly a breathtaking performance.
One of the very best ESC songs. Niamh's singing is incredible - powerful, controlled, emotional. So glad it won.
considering this isn’t the music i’m into i’m absolutely obsessed with this song and i honestly don’t know why
me too
Because the lyrics connect with your life or its just bloody brilliant
Same here !! Definitely not my style normally. Just heard it on Ray D’Arcy a few minutes ago and I have no idea why I’m smitten by it.
Because it's such a beautiful beautiful song.
I heard it on the night and was entranced
What a beautiful lady Niamh Kavanagh really is and won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993
One of the best songs ever in the Eurovision song contest. Classic. Memorable. Great performance. 😊🇬🇷
❤️🇮🇪
I would agree. The second best is Ding a Dong by Teach-In who won in 1975.
@@phil7218 Jhonny logan lol
@@phil7218 Totally Agree And Miles Better Of Waterloo
@@ElBlogDeSalva_- Nope the UK should have won. The song sung by the Shadows was high & shoulders above a everyone else
Big time and she didn't have to be half naked to do it x
I am still in love with this masterpiece and it makes me so proud of being Irish and of republic of Ireland one of the best songs ever
Don't forget about Northern Ireland on the island of Ireland as well. 🇮🇪 ☘
Irelands Best Eurovision Winner,The Voice of a Goddess,
@@richardmacken9410 I agree with you she should have won the Eurovision song contest in 2010
Your Celtic cousins in Scotland loved it as well!
@@gmaccruyff55 ok that is good to hear
No autotune, just pure talent..they just let the singer do her job..and wow....she nailed every one of those high notes. Of course, that was back in the day when it was a SONG contest....makes me right proud every time I hear this ;-)
By far the most underrated winner of Eurovision
How can it be underrated when she won it?
@@irishking1414 it’s not as appreciated as other winners
@@josephshaulov5914 Leann rimes
Because it takes two minutes to build into something great
Since i discovered im eligible for an Irish passport (grandfather from Eniskillen) i cant stop listening to Irish Eurovision songs! Tremendous tune and brilliantly sung Niamh!
By far the best song ever, Deserved more that Eurovision status, Best ever euro song
I'm sad that this late 2000's that they don't have live orchestra anymore...
It’s a circus clown show now, that’s why
@@ventisette. Yeah, but there are really good songs equally. I watch eurovision every year because of songs, don't care really much about winners. Real winners are in our minds and memories
@@ElLuchador535 there have been maybe 2 deserving winners in the last 10 years, Loreen and Maneskin
@@ventisette. I rather die than say that maneskin was good winner, and i think modern esc is very overhated
@@patrykoo.The 1993 winner can actually beat all 2021 entries even my winner 🇨🇵
one of my all time favourites of ESC. her voice is amazing. no fuzz, no dancers, jumping around, light show, fire etc. just pure talent. what a voice.
I loved it 30 years ago..... I still love it today! FANTASTIC VOICE !
Me too. Why didn’t she have a huge career?
i am SHIVERING, my god does niamh have one of the greatest voices in the world or what?
No. She does not.
No...dimash kudaibergen holds that title. ...
@@ponyclub3198 oh but she does
Probably the best vocal performance of the live orchestra era.
what a fantastic voice.
I saw Niamh perform this tonight in Amsterdam and she was absolutely brilliant. Wonderful song, beautiful voice.
Stunning performance in millstreet vocally brilliant on the night some atmosphere well done Niamh 🎤😍
The days Ireland was proud of their Eurovision entry, great memories.
Murphy 903 and then there was jedward what a disappointment
@@mercurytaylormaydeacon9980 yet they were our highest placing in ages. Which shows how bad esc has become. No respect for our acts in 2014 or 2015 but 8th for high haired muppets
It was more about the fact they almost bankrupt the broadcaster. They were a victim of their own success and it cost a fortune to stage. So they put through terrible entries.... might win again soon though.
Its Ireland there own fault
Becouse what they are sending the last 20 years .. omg its aweful
@@EdjeMr1975 Ireland had a great song in 2018!!
Without doubt, was THE BEST SONG and THE BEST PERFORMANCE. WONDERFUL WINNER and ONE OF THE BEST SONG EVER IN EUROVISION. My 12 from Spain. 10 to Netherlands. 8 to Portugal. 7 to Malta. 6 Italy. 5 Greece. 4 Cyprus. 3 Germany. 2 Finland. 1 Bosnia Herzegovina.
My fave irish entry / winner ever, and one of the best years for voting intensity too
Hey Handsome 😘❤
Certainly. This is quickly becoming my favourite Irish entry of the 90s. While I initially despised this entry, I now believe this was a deserved winner. Also this means that to my taste, 1993 had the correct songs in the top 3 (albeit in the wrong order; my order is 🥉🇮🇪, 🥈🇬🇧, 🥇🇨🇭)
Perhaps the greatest winning moment in Eurovision history. With 11 points between Ireland & the UK & Malta's 12 remaining, that "and finally... IRELAND" call, and the entire of Ireland jumping & screaming in joy. Amazing moment!!
Might not be the best Irish entry because a log are good
I said I was only going to listen to about 10 seconds of this...
Ended up listening to pretty much the whole thing... stunning... and mesmerizing...
Obsessed with this song, was so proud to be irish that night.😊
Freundlich, lebensfroh und verbindlich so kennen sie alle Fans. Unkompliziert und sympatisch. Grüße aus Deutschland.
Great song and great voice. In 1993 I was only 20. Unemployment was a fact of life. I did a Fas construction course in Bishopstown Cork after 2yrs in limerick Rtc college. I had a good 👍 time in Cork going to the pubs and nightclubs. 😅😊 A pint in a pub in 1993 was around 2 pounds and 20 pence. You went out once a week.Thats all you could afford back then. Its the same today in 2024.
I’m an avid fan of Eurovision and this IMHO is the best winning song of them all. Absolutely stunning melody and beautifully sung. It has a very natural sound of its own and quite different from most Eurovision songs. Utterly beautiful.
I would agree. The second best is Ding a Dong by Teach-In who won in 1975.
@@phil7218Ding a Dong is so overrated to the point UK was my 1975 winner
Actually I heard someone put both Ireland 1993 and Netherlands 1975 as their worst winners
This is the greatest ever Eurovision song, and such an amazing singer!
She's beautiful!! Irish beauty!
Why do I find myself coming back to this song after..25 years! She's sublime. And now she looks like a predecessor of Adele from a less connected decade.
I love 2:45 ,when she takes a moment to prepare before singing the high note
Singing like that is like a sport
The live Orchestra is just on point!! Those trumpets giving me life
Absolute goosebumps listening to Niamh and her backing singers are excellent. I remember watching it live from Millstreet. Loved it then as much as I do now. Class performance 👏👏
Who is here after 2019
Amazing song like always good old days.
just looking at stuff that brings back memories, I met my husband in the pub the night this was on, he was just diagnosed with guess what.....waiting for the kids to visit to break the news to them

Showing no emotion, my feelings locked inside
I made myself an island, trying to take my heart and hide
I built a wall around me, afraid of letting go
But suddenly an open door I never saw before
In your eyes
I see the light leading me home again
It's heaven in your arms, my love
My heart is in your hands
In you eyes, seems so right
I see forever in your smile
This woman is a child again
(In your eyes)
Love's been building bridges between your heart and mine
I'm safe here on my island, but I'm out on the edge this time
I built a wall around me, thought I'd save myself the pain
Your touch swept me away, now I'll never play it safe again
In your eyes
I see the light leading me home again
It's heaven in your arms, my love
My heart is in your hands
In you eyes, seems so right
I see forever in your smile
This woman is a child again
I've never been this close
How do I know love will survive?
I'm walking a tightrope
Here, in your arms, I'm alive
In your eyes, I see the light
I see forever in your smile
This woman is a child again
Oh... in your eyes
(I see the light leading me home again)
I see the light, I see the light
(It's heaven in your arms, my love)
(My heart is in your hands)
Whoa...
(In you eyes, feels so right)
I see forever in your smile
This woman is a child again
When I look in your eyes
The winner of Eurovision 1993 in Millstreet,Ireland.

Great song from the days when Ireland could do no wrong in Eurovision ...... Niamh's a top singer, with a stunning voice ..... Jimmy Walsh wrote this beautiful ballad, i could just listen to it forever.
Best Eurovision song of all time, in my opinion.
I agree
The second best is Ding-A-Dong by Teach In 1975.
@@phil7218 great song ding a ding brilliant
Diggie loo, diggi le. ....Sweden always had the best songs.....no one will ever beat ABBA though. ...
i can agree same with Phil i really do think that one is the second best song
not cause im from the netherlands trying to support my country just cause i like the song and the performance
was just to laugh lmao
Diggi loo diggy Ley is definitely not one of the best eurovison songs ever. The most memorable ones in my opinion are... Niamh Kavanagh, teach in, brotherhood of man, ABBA, sandie Shaw, Johnny Logan, lena and Olsen brothers... Some great songs that didn't win are cliff Richard (robbed) new seekers (robbed) Liam Reilly (robbed) and Jalisse (robbed).
I've discovered this song just two days ago and I just can't stop listening, watching, singing or at least thinking about it! It's both musically perfect and catchy, Niamh is so naturally beautiful, her singing is explosive, yet so calm and efortless. I'm in love with this song and Niamh.
What an evergreen! I find myself listening to it still, and it ages so beautifully.
Real music. Beautiful song. Beautiful lady. Great hair.
Such a nostalgic song. Beautiful Irish Ballad. Greetings from Turkey!
The best Eurovision song EVER!! An incredible song! An incredible voice!!
One of the very best, this one!
So discreet and simple. That was the real Eurovision. If Ireland sends another extraordinary balad like this one, you are the ultímate champs
Amazing song. Obvious winner!
Hi from Sweden 🇸🇪 simply amazing I got tears in my eyes.
What a voice and what a performance!! Still great to hear after so many years!!
Goosebumps. Every time. Come on Ireland! Miss your cracking songs!! Johnny Logan come back!!
This is still a favourite surely, the vocals are perfect, she is glamorous and smartly dressed. The poem it’s soooo beautiful
One of the most under rated performances of all time.
I thought it won
It was hardy underrated. It was the winning song.
I knew it would win!
A Beautiful song.
In your eyes.....
This is when it was a pleasure to watch the Eurovision Contest. Over the years it’s gone down the wrong road ,not watched for years ,
God damn this woman was pure gold. Best ever euro song.
Geraldine Geraldine yes I agree it's right up there some vocals
One of the best song and beautiful voice by beautiful singer . Sharon. 🇮🇱
This is such a lovely song. Well deserved win for the Irish.

I loved this at the time and still do. Greetings from England!
The best Eurovision winner ever! A great song and a great singer.

Actually I think she had a chance of winning in 2010. The song was good, her voice was too. But in all honesty, Niamh's figure was no where close to 1993's and I think she lost points for it.
That's very sad to think about.
What an abolute Idiot you are.
lol
Are U kidding ..
Oké its all about taste but i dont like this song !
What a brilliant song and those vocals Niamh you were perfect and looked beautiful great day for Ireland one of the best eurovison songs.
I'm in love with Niamh's Irish accent :3
dublin specifically
Love this jazzy song. She was amazing. For me one of the best winners ever. Greetings from German fan
12 points from Sweden!
wow!! she really pulled that off!
The Irish Golden Decade...what an amazing entries, love it!
The *English* golden decade.
A good song in its own right, but what makes it stand out for me really is the ending; such an original delightful orchestral twist.
Great song and voice...
I can relate to this song very much, it's very beautiful, sentimental and melancholic at the same time...I was also born in 1993, so it holds a special place in my heart..Love from Cyprus ❤
I saw here tonight in Eurovision Song Contest Rotterdam and i love the song. So beautiful!!!
Yes !!
Hands down the single most difficult vocal performance ever on Eurovision and sung to absolute heavenly perfection by an amazing artist! Still a favourite 30 years on! Timeless
One of the best winning songs!!
This song was brilliant, just brilliant. Apart from Niamh's voice, the concluding three chords at the end just killed it. This is my all time favorite Eurovision song, with the Luxemburg song from 1983 just behind it.
The only CD single I ever bought. Listened to it at home most nights that summer of 93..... still gets me everytime.
I was a kiddo back then. I remember keeping my fingers crossed that she'd win. Still love her performance!
Can't ever fail to enjoy this song in 1993.
Well done Niamh. If you had not won this year the world would never have known Riverdance.
Such a great voice,
I knew this would win after the opening lines
I was 14 at the time, amazing memories of a special Eurovision and an Irish win in Millstreet.
Perfect 10
Still gives me goosebumps....and not much else does these days :-)
This is a beautiful beautiful song. A real piece of art ❤
Fun fact: the key change during In Your Eyes was suggested by Idina Menzel, now best known as the voice of Elsa in Frozen and the singer of the inescapable Let It Go.
Somebody was reading the Guardian today😂
👏🇮🇪 Happy 30th Anniversary to Niamh Kavanagh🏆So good to see her & the Lovely Liverpool lass Sonia 🇬🇧💫on the Eurovision Song Contest (2023) Still both great songs & both great girls too.. Full Circle Moment 💫👏💙💛🙏
Best song ever in the Eurovision - As I saw it being performed live that night it gave me goosebumps and made the hairs on the back of my neck stick up and I knew for sure it would win !!!!

This song is much too good for Eurovision
Niamh’s song won the Eurovision Song Contest in the year I was born! And I’m also Irish on my mom’s side, so it’s really cool that Ireland has had a lot of great singers enter in this legendary contest!
