I cannot wait to see your tutorials on HL2 and MRTK. If i am trying to use MRTK 2.3 which version of unity 2019.3.x would you recommend? most of the time I have to use 2018 but it has issues when compiling for ARM64 but each time I try 2019 the project breaks telling me the asset database or the VR configuration is not compatible
They're in the process ;) At the moment I work with MRTK 2.2 and the latest Unity 2019.3.x version. Depending on if you work with the HoloLens or the HoloLens 2 you should use x86 (HL1) or ARM (HL2)

@@DineshPunni Awesome! thanks! I have compiled a couple of samples (hand interaction & gaze tracking) of the MRTK 2.3 in my HL2 device but the performance went down to 8-12 FPS, you have an idea why this might be? I used the HL2 config profile in the MRTK game object but it still went that way.

Hey Dinesh, thanks for the video! I'm teaching myself normal 2d web development right now and have secured some freelance clients already (after 6 months teaching). I've learned basic HTML, CSS and JS and am teaching myself React now. Do these skills help with AR dev? I am hoping to transition to AR in the next 5 years as I think AR is obviously the future. But it seems like AR requires lower level languages, or Unity. Are my normal web dev skills useless? Thanks!
Hey, great question! There are lots of ways to create AR applications. Your JS skills are definitely not wasted. There are Frameworks like 8th Wall or JsAR available that use JavaScript.
You can (and I also recommend) use engines like Unity to create truly powerful AR applications on any platform.
Of course that requires you to learn Unity and C# but both are very beginner friendly and I teach them on my channel here, so if you want to get started feel free to check out my other (and future) videos.

Hi, Thanks for this video. I'm architect and I use Unreal Engine for present my work in VR and RealTime render. I like to dive in AR and VR development with Unreal engine but I can't find any tutorials in UE, 99% of market learn AR and VR in Unity. What do you think? I must go and learn with unity or find a solution with UE? I'm so confused. Thanks

I think both should be fine but I'd definitely check back with Microsoft on that

Which laptop should i go for ar development ? Will macbook air be ok? Or i need a gaming laptop
It's important to know if you want to develop for iOS, Android or both. If you want to go with iOS you'll need a Macbook. Macbook pro would definitely be better but an Air should be fine too

- If you don't want to build for Desktop VR a normal Windows 10 PC will do just fine.
- Check out some of my Unity tutorials (depending on your needs) you only need to install Unity (free) and you can get started already :)

I had build my own 3D model and imported it in unity, i replaced the cube with that model. But when i run the app its too slow and hangs every few seconds , i mean the transition is not smooth.
So hopefully you can cover that area as well.

Is unity much better than unreal for AR?
That's really personal preference. Both work fine but I chose Unity over Unreal for a number of reason. Will probably do a video on that in the future

I personally work with Unity but in my opinion it's just a matter of personal preference. Both, Unity and Unreal Engine are amazing engines!

Hey Victor, welcome aboard!
Vuforia and AR Foundation both offer you functionalities and tools to create AR experiences. Vuforia is one of the oldest AR SDK on the market whereas AR Foundation is relatively new.
The 2 main differences are that Vuforia uses it's own implementation for all the AR features and Unity's AR Foundation is basically a wrapper around Googles ARCore and Apples ARKit. So you have cross platform development out of the box. Another big difference - and the reason why I personally go with AR Foundation is the pricing.
AR Foundation goes with Unity's pricing model which is free until you make 100k. Vuforia pricing starts with $42/month.
I will do a more in depth video in the future comparing AR Foundation and Vuforia so stay tuned :)

I think AR and VR are accurate terms for now but in the future they'll merge together, like they already slowly do.
That's why I prefer to go with "immersive technologies" :)

Development is going to be hard but you can definitely work in the AR industry without know to code.

That quite depends on many factores such as your level of experience and the country you're living in. In the US I'd say an average salary for an AR/VR Developer can range from $80k - $100k
Here in Germany it's around €50k - €80k
You don't wait for virtual realities
