    Steve, you make that look so easy.. truly masterful. I bought an Ashley Isles skew based on seeing you use one and all I need now is another 35 years full time production experience lol😂

      Maybe Ashley Isles will start selling years of experience to go with the skew. That’s the only way in getting 35 years of experience.

    Hi. Say, a lot of bad hss quality chisels out there. I am going back and buying older tools that are high carbon steel. I find the neck of the tangs are much thicker and the handles are made of better choice wood. What are your thoughts on this?

    • @woodturner21
      @woodturner21  6 місяців тому +1

      I find HSS far superior to carbon steel. I make my own handles I’m a woodturner after all. As for the tang I’ve never had a problem with a tang on a skew. The gouges tend to be from round bar and stronger than old tangs. The only tool with a weak tang is the spindle roughing gouge but that’s not an issue if used for spindle work only.

      @@woodturner21 , I do own some very good quality hss turning tools, but I'm finding the market to be flooded with cheap Chinese knock offs. In fact, DeWalt is experiencing a problem with counterfeits being sold. Have a nice day.

    I just read that your lathe runs with a loose flat belt that slips off when something was caught in the spindle. Would it be possible for you to demonstrate that on camera, or at least show the belt and explain this safety feature? Modern lathes don’t have that, they’d be spinning on forever. Your Wadkin RS 10 seems to be a safer machine in that regard.
