Medvedev is actually so underrated. His style is unorthodox but it works and his movement is really good as well. Hopw that he wins more titles next year.
It’s not 2019 anymore people have been talking about how good he is for years. But if you are just talking about this year alone, then yeah i guess people have been a bit harsh on him he’s had some good performances just been lacklustre in finals and big matches

I think the opposite, he's overrated. Can lose to anybody these days, hardly won anything entire year. He's mentally destroyed after Australia.

Recently he is criticized for not winning close matches like AO vs Nadal, Finals vs Djokovic, and Paris vs Deminaur. But I think he is so, so UNDERRATED. His defensive skill and ability to hit counter shots from incredible positions or conditions are just tremendous. Actually, He is insanely good. If he manages to get out of his slump, he will definitely get multiple big titles.
underrated is a strong word and I think he is anything but, he's properly rated by anyone who knows tennis, can win any tournament on a hard court as he has shown

Not one player can have multiple successful seasons in a row. Daniil had amazing 2020 and 2021. Only logical to have a bit of downfall but only makes it exciting for what's to come next year! His true fans know that!

Still a favorite. Anyone can have a "bad" season for various reasons. Even Federer (2013), Nadal (2015), and Djokovic (2017) weren't immune to it. Here's to hoping he finds some form in 2023 :)

He needs to change his game a little. I really want him to succeed and win more slams, but players like Nadal and Kygrios really exposed his weakness: he can’t attack for shit. He really needs to work on that…
Why a highlight reel for someone who had an average year?
How many players reached Grand slam finals in a year? If that’s average to you, you must be Djokovic or Nadal?
Great HC player. But his results on clay and grass are not good. Cilic annnihilated him in Paris and then he lost to van Rijthoven on grass. Plus more and more players start to figure Medvedev out. Yesterday he was beaten in straights by Fritz, Tsitsipas starts to own Medvedev too.
He missed most of the clay court season so he may grab few hundred points next year
He had a good grass season, and he could have easily went 3-0 instead of 0-3 in year end finals

why would he rush himself to the net with the possibility of hitting a weak and predictable shot. Most tour players won't get close to picking up that ball, let alone hitting a winner like that. You have unrealistic expectations from tour players. Edberg's volleys are unbeatable, but he would not have been able to do any different with a ball dropping right at his legs. Not to mention the speed players have nowadays. Consider the advancements in technology, which now allows players to maximize their physical potential. Edberg would not be close to the speed of someone like Daniil.
