- May was a very busy month at the Railway for our lovely ladies. First off we celebrated all our wonderful Talyllyn Women with a day dedicated to them running the whole railway, and then we had Founders' Day - celebrating 72 years of Preservation with The Old Lady herself, Dolgoch, making a triumphant return!

I am glad that Dolgoch's overhaul is finally finished and it is back in service once again. Hopefully, the engine story of Dolgoch will be out soon.
It was especially nice to see Ann Hatherill in the film, well done to the Talyllyn for recognising the efforts of their female volunteers.

I saw Dolgoch whilst visiting Nant Gwernol for the first time on Tuesday. It was a very pleasant surprise to see her as I have not been to the railway for a very long time.
I'm very happy! I can't wait this moment. One of my favourite engine is back!

As a man suffering bad at the moment with his mental health, I'd like to say well done to those ladies. However, when is men only day? A day where men only run the railway? Again who diggs the coal out of the ground your trains run on?!
Great idea but it could be a two edged sword! Being a man it's not my place to criticise but the two observations I would make are 1. Don't women normally get an equal shot on the Talyllyn? and 2. Don't you then need to have multicultural or LGBTQ+ or disabled days to show the railway is inclusive, as I imagine it is. These may be addressed in your volunteering or employment literature of course. Just saying...
