@@corin164 Same here. I currently live in Texas (I'm a native Texan), but my wife and I are thinking about moving to NC - Dallas is getting too hectic. We've never had a bad experience when we've visited NC, the scenery is gorgeous, the people are friendly, and it's not too hot or too cold there - we have no desire to dig our cars out during the winter! 😏 Worst place I've ever lived was Boston MA - total cesspool and the people are absolutely awful!

NC is my home, so I’m a bit biased in saying this, but I think we’re really underrated. I think our geographic diversity, good economy, and our surprising mix of political / cultural groups gives us a lot of potential for growth. You know, my dad grew up in Gastonia. He did not like Gastonia in particular and North Carolina in general, so I did not get to experience the place while growing up. After having visited a couple of times, I'm going to have to say my dad allowed his own experiences to bias his view of North Carolina. Gastonia is pretty rough around the edges and lacks much in the way of attractions as it doesn't appear to have ever recovered after most of the textile industry left. I can say I too have no desire to live there. However, most of what I saw in my limited experience with mostly Western North Carolina was pretty nice. I don't want to leave.

High point also has a really big music and theater scene! We have many great fine arts related things like the historic Washington street which is where my high school Penn-Griffin School of the Arts (Class of 23!) sits. Penn-Griffin itself is full of history, the most prominent piece of history is that on February 11th in 1960, 26 Students from William Penn High School ( Penn-Griffin’s former name) walked down to the Woolworth’s Café on South Main Street and took part in the first ever high school led sit in during the civil rights movement. Every year, Students and Staff from Penn-Griffin prepare a showcase to honor all of the students who participated in the sit in. One of the most notable alumni of the school has to be legendary jazz musician John Coltrane, who is the namesake of our Hall of Music and Dance.
High Point is also home to High Point University, a gigantic private university known for its amazing programs.

I traveled through North Carolina about 30 years ago, from the Appalachians to the Outer Banks and loved it all! Such variety! Even though I lost my car keys on Ocracoke Island when a high tide wave knocked me over, I still had a wonderful trip. (Oh, if anybody finds some keys around the Outer Banks to a 1988 Mazda, those are mine, but that car is history, so you can keep 'em.) Ocracoke was the most beautiful remote beach I have ever seen.
A particularly cool place I saw was Mt. Airy, the real life Mayberry, in the foothills of the Appalachians. The town was not yet overrun with tourists dressed like Andy and Barney; it had a nice sprinkling of images from the show, like an Aunt Bea's Restaurant and a Mayberry Mall shopping center.

I love this new take on your US states feature video. Its more like a touristy video which is light and easy to watch. Hoping your next vids would be more like this one. Keep it up Kyle

This was awesome!! Learned so much even though it's not the traditional state profile; benefited especially from the pictures you had of the different cities and your direct comparison of them, maybe since more time could be spent on this. Watching from NC, my first trip to Ocean Isle Beach!

Wilmington has a MASSIVE film studio, and, as recently as 2006, had the largest US film studio outside of Hollywood. Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill, Matlock, the Scream series of films (there’re many more; these are just off the top of my head) were all filmed in Wilmington.

Unfortunately the State Legislature stopped the tax incentives and the film work moved to Atlanta. There still are a few films fine there.

Thank you for pronouncing Appalachian correctly. I know it hurts to purposely say it incorrect as well.

Asheville is one of the most beautiful cities. The blue ridge parkway is a must see/do.
The Biltmore is expensive to go into but worth It at least once(ive been numerous times).

I have an indescribable love for this state. Having grown up in the same county where mount Mitchell is in the literal heart of the Appalachian mountains I could honestly never live anywhere other than in the mountains. My only concern right now though is within the last 2 to 3 years there has been an absurd influx of people moving to this region. House prices have tripled and small town vibes you get are slowly dying with all the new ppl who dont know the culture here. Its changing too fast

I grew up in north East Tennessee and as a BoyScout we never had an issue with camping, hiking, canoeing, whatever.
I moved to Dallas as an adult... yeah. There’s not too much of that sadly.
